- Rishi Sunak has called a general election for 4 July, saying "now is the moment for Britain to choose its future".
Harking back to his days as chancellor during the pandemic, Mr Sunak said he served the country while "the future hung in the balance".
"I will never leave this country to face the darkest days alone," he said, adding that he has "never been prouder to be British".

I can't vote Tories or Lib Dem. Don't really want to vote Labour, but our public services are in such a mess they're the only option to sort them out I feel. All the others will just continue with privatisation.
I am surprised he mentioned brexit, given the 100's of billions it has cost the country, and loss of 10's of thousands of jobs directly due to brexit, and our passports now effectively 26 times less powerful ripping unrestricted travel, work, live, retire to our closest nations, without restrictions or cost, away from our young.... and not one benefit, other that laughing at brexiters, who got everything wrong.
