Her Daydream tour, Rushing butterfly album, 3 hours of sleep, Vocal Technique shift, Alcohol addiction is what caused her voice to decline. No matter how u age your voice will get preserve if you don't overdo things.
@@laxusdim147 nah it’s just aging, she had absolutely no time for addictions, she made 15 albums and a lot of touring, and she’s 52. A mother and still number one every Xmas… sadly great artists with addictions simply die. We should be thankful that we still have Mariah and Celine.
@@galagutierrez106 yup! And also people making blatant addiction comments dont understand the extent to which nodules affect her voice. Like her voice is different almost everyday and it makes it insanely difficult to find stability in those scenarios.
Mariah has always been a ocassional drinker and anytime she has been openly drunk she's been going through things privately or publicly.
Artists that drink dont just lose their voice, there's wayy too many artists that have admitted to drug and alcohol abuse that still have fully functional singing voices. Its the nodules and aging for Mariah as well as irregular sleeping patterns..
This alcohol addiction shit is purely made up. Its not to say alcohol does not effect the voice. Im sure it does. But it isnt a major factor that has affected Mariah.
@@snareyshot2879 Usually is not the alcohol what ruins a singer's voice. It's the alcohol need that does it. Usually, people abuse alcohol when they are not in a good place mentally, and THAT is something that ruins someone's voice. Take a look on Mariah during Butterfly and Rainbow eras, when she was dealing with a bad divorce, little to no resting, and some professional problems (caused by the divorce), how bad her voice was. If you compare with her, after breakdown, you can see that the resting and the good spirit made her voice rock solid (as solid as a abused and noduled voice can be). You want to see a real prime Mariah? Look at her performances while pregnant. Strong voice all around.
@@laxusdim147 Now... If there is any "for sure" reason for her having any voice "decline" during her career, keep in mind her nodules over time play a very huge part in that.

Vocal ability aside, her tone is so amazing and just pleasant on the ears.
Loved that part at the end. It’s very true. I think that people have always been reluctant to accept just how talented she is because of jealousy or insecurity and so they look for almost any reason to cast unnecessary doubt. The real truth is many people could not do what she is still capable of in 2021.
Jealousy, insecurity and ignorance. I met a person that constantly was trashing Mariah and saying he really knew what he was talking about just because he used to take voice lessons, but he was just a karaoke singer on the weekends, so no, he didn't knew what he was talking about, he was just too ignorant to even recognize how wrong he was.

Mariah is still incredibly generous to share her craft and her presence and sing her old repertoire even to this day.
The same agesist people tha shade her are the ones who after 40 can't walk straight but expect her to replicate what she did as a 20 year old..
I love that you said you're a sucker for 90s power ballads except when U2 does them haha. Mariah was up for record of the year at the Grammys but bizarrely lost to a U2 for an album no one had heard of. It was so unexpected that even the audio guys didn't expect it because as U2 was announced We Belong Together started playing then quickly shut off.

@@akinadik07 In our society everyone is to be straight until they say otherwise. When they are able and willing to define themselves. Many men and women go on this journey, some know they are gay, some are undefined. So many have partners of the opposite sex, because we are taught this is normal. However when ever in life you feel more comfortable or are able to define yourself, you can change that label from straight, to whatever you feel defines you. Whether it is gay, bie, trans, non-binary, etc because only the individual can define themselves when they are ready.

It's really nice to hear someone talk about Mariah's vocals so thoroughly and accurately from someone who has great vocal knowledge like you. I still haven't recovered from the biased video of "Ain't no other fan" . Anyone who knows nothing about singing should be silent especially a person who never misses an opportunity to belittle a legend like Mariah, literally made a video for it, just to belittle Mariah in different aspects. Belittle the singer who at her best has reached the highest level in mainstream music calling her "Studio singer" because now can't sing like she once did, but who really sang like her when she was at her best? NO - ONE. 30 years later she's still the higher standard to which any singer is measured not only vocally but also artistically. And then the Tori Kelly's things about agility. No words. What a shame.

I'm addicted to your channel, makes me see Mariah in a while different way and is far beyond her range. She is insanely talented. I think you would really appreciate her 2021 We belong together late night Mimi's valentine version, please do watch the extended version which lasts a bit above 7 minutes butt she sort of starts to freestyle, pushes a Jazzier sound, her use of the whistle in there is effing amazing. She approaches the song in a different way completely, she looses the beggy tone the 2005 version has and her vocals are angrier, it simply goes to show versatility in both her talent as singer and producer. Quite important is that she starts mixing in the climax instead of upper belt and that allows her to do even more intricate runs, her scales are spot on.
