Thanks Robert. For those that aren't familiar with the fan cap ... if the "wings" to the fan cap are horizontal, the fan spray pattern will be vertical. If the wings are vertical, the pattern will be horizontal. I've had my fan cap for my PS-290 for a while and I recently got the Swallowtail fan cap. They are great when spraying a large area (like 1/48 scale aircraft).
That's my plan for 1/48 scale PBY Catalina 😂
I can see it already…20 years from now a Barbatos Rex airbrush holder with a low serial number auctioning off for hundreds of dollars on eBay. Worth every penny to own a piece of history created by the legend himself lol. Seriously, you got some great stuff going there Robert! And, I always wondered about trigger style airbrushes being dual action. Now I know.
I just got my swallowtail in today! Told my wife she could get me another one as a Christmas gift and they showed to be all sold out…guess I should be happy I at least got one.😊
A very simple concept... If you ever painted with a full size paint gun gravity feed... They are dual action as Well lots of the time painters set them at full fluid wide open meaning that the trigger is depressed and the needle is then turned in until resistance is felt and you stop there at full fluid when fully depresed trigger... Then First stage is just air then second is paint which when set to full fluid you can control the amount of fluid by how much you pull back on the trigger takes some finesse to learn to control but that's two stage paint delivery.. Aka dual action.
All the yes.
Ive argued with to many people about this very topic.
Killer shirt my man and thanks for the demo as always.
Dream Theater 😀👍
Thanks for showing the fan cap, I had not realized how useful it actually would be.
Sir Rex, you are the guru god of all things related to model hobby knowledge. Great videos and awesome job!
Wow, thanks!
My Swallowtail just shipped. I'm excited. I'm building a 65 Coranet and want to spay it
Just got my swallowtail, fan cap, and stand in today! Excited to try it out.
My fan cap and stand arrived today! Fantastic quality! I got #229
Your swallowtail brush looks beautiful and that fan cap is great too
Thanks, that will come in real handy.
My swallowtail airbrush and fan cap are arriving tomorrow!! Can't wait to try them out.
Hope you enjoy it!
Really nice Gundam in the background
Just got my barbatos airbrush with fan cap yesterday. And boy o boy am i digging this brush. Great job. And it just feels so awesome in the hand. Top notch for sure. ❤❤
Glad you enjoy it!
Thanks much!! Haven't tried my tried my trigger'd airbrush yet, but very helpful information!
My Swallowtail, fan cap and stand shipped Tuesday. Can't wait to try it. I have projects lined up to put it to work. Would love to have a fan cap for the .7 needle.
I'll ask if they can make one
Glad all the jars got there safe and sound . great Video on the airbrushes!
Thanks 👍
that dream theater shirt tho!!
Dream Theater baby 👍
Thanks, Mr Rex for explaining and demonstrating the trigger air brush.
My swallowtail combo kit arrived on the 11th. Sweet, can't wait to it and the fan cap out.
Thank you. My swallow tail with fan cap and holder just came in on tuesday. Its my first trigger style. I think others may have had the same misconception as i did in thinking dual action meant independent control over the air and paint. This makes sense that the trigger controls the curve for you. You wouldnt want a ton of air to spray a little stream of paint or vice versa.
Thank you so much for answering that question.... I really was wondering how it works. Again you help me to understand all that and I thank you!
Got my SwallowTail 3 days ago and have been using it everyday. I hate to say it, but my Grex may be second fiddle now. I haven't got to use the fan cap yet, but the atomization is amazing. I'm going to use it for a car body this weekend. Great Stuff!
Wow that's awesome, thanks for your support
Love the Dream Theater shirt!
Hell yeah, Dream Theater 👍
I want the butterfly so badly! I use createx paints often and that airbrush is absolutely perfect!
Back in stock very soon
Fellow Robert here. I enjoyed when you painted that car a long while ago. Do you see yourself showcasing painting any other kits? I'm unsure of how that video did statistically, of course.
Yes I'll get into painting more kits for sure
Fantastic!
Thank you! Cheers!
Received your Swallowtail last week and it has been working like a charm. Good replacement for my Badger.
That's awesome, thanks for your support
Best channel for this hobby, another great video. I have been curious about this myself, so thank you.
These work exactly the same way a traditional automotive paint gun operates... Remember the threaded knob at the tail of the brush, can be adjusted to limit the amount of pull back to very accurately control the paint volume. The fan cap also makes the brush spray just like a real automotive spray gun. This is useful in larger scale models with wider surfaces to obtain very even thickness, compared to round pattern spray. Really looking forward to arrival of my fully optioned Swallowtail.. Its going to be a great addition👌
Awesome video, think I might give a trigger airbrush a try.
Go for it!
Thank you for covering this!
My pleasure!
THanks Bob!!! Youre a big brother . Always teaching new things
Glad to help
Being an old auto body man the trigger type airbrush is a natural my third one (yours) with the fan cap is supposed to be here Saturday
Thanks for showing how they work I’m sure you just helped a few guys
Thanks for the info. Very appreciated. If I ever get a space where I can set up a spray booth I am so going to get that and a good setup.
Just got the swallowtail delivered with fan cap and stand, haven’t used it yet but looks fantastic, great work on this!
Thanks for your support Steve. The airbrush performs great.
Aight. That's it. Your swallowtail is a much better version than the Studio G I got. Idk if it's just the QC problem but mine doesn't do the dual action even with just a slightest pressure on the trigger for air. It blows paint right away and I tried all the needles size available already. Hope your swallowtail becomes available soon. Thank you very much, Robert! You're the reason why I'm now using a proper airbrush and tools. ❤❤
They should be back in stock before the end of the month.
@barbatosrex9473 looking forward to it. Great Great work!! I'm supporting you all the way!
What a fantastic video for those new to airbrushing, Thank you very much for unwavering dedication to your channel and your subscribers it's very much appreciated. Can't wait to see what's next. Everyone keep yourselves and love ones safe and healthy and remember to SMILE 😊God Bless 🙏
I can't wait to try this airbrush out. I'm excited for both of us Robert thank you for all that you do
Great news on more of the stands being available soon. I'm thinking of getting more, so all my airbrushes can have a proper 'home'.
Robert, are you going to explain the difference between a waterfall paint booth and a regular paint booth, thanks?
3 fans on the waterfall? One more fan and you could surf...LOL
Good. I was curious too.
I dont paint Tons of cars but sometimes if I'm doing a bomber I think about how a fan cap would be handy
Thanks for the information in ALL of your videos! Your awesome and keep up the good work for all of us that watch your videos. Here's hoping all is well in your family and Merry Christmas!!
Excellent! Wonderful reasons to get to the trigger type airbrush!
Hi Robert, i am looking forward to getting my swallowtail and holder in the next couple of days. Good to hear they are going to make more of the airbrush holders.
Thanks for the video Robert. I didn't know the Trigger airbrushes were dual-action. That will definitely change my mind about getting one to try out.
Great info again, always look forward to your videos. Now just waiting for issue #2 of your brush and accessories. See you
Im sooo excited for my my brush, stand and fan cap to get in. Congrats on all the stocking out, thats awesome!
That fan cap is awesome
Got my Barbatos Rex Swallowtail this week and I love it. Anyway you could coax Gaahleri to develop a fan cap for the .70 version?
I'll ask them
My Swallowtail with fan cap and stand arrived today.. Boy howdy, Iwata needs to take a good look at how this is packaged.. Beautiful box acts as storage case for the complete brush system. Quality looks very good. i have not yet painted with it, but am impressed with the fit and finish. needles are superb upon inspection. I think I'l going to love this airbrush. The handle feels completely natural.
Happy holidays to you and your family. Thank you for your videos. I'm looking forward to when you test those automotive colors they look awesome
Great video. Gotta order that 2k before it sells out
nice delivery on this vids, like you just give some information to a friend, which is nice. just some quick addition, please do consider buying a microphone, especially when you speak away from camera, the distance of the camera, when usually you speak closely behind the camera at the bench or the booth. just some recomendation. keep up the goodwork sir!
Information shared from you sure saves me a lot of trial and error, which equates to money. Thank you for sharing so much information and saving my hobby budget from needless mistakes.
Cool stuff, the way that alcohol was drying is kinda crazy looking😅
Super excited for that HobbyMio metallics test, been eyeing those since the craft store topcoat vid. That Aqueous Super Metallics test should be wild. Can never have enough metallics IMO.
Great informative video, have a good evening yall✌🏽
Thanks for the demo
Great video for new folks to airbrushing. Here's another one about ball bearings and mixing paint. Do you use a single bearing or two (or will it depend on the thickness of the paint) and do you leave bearings in the bottle until the bottle's empty or do you pull them out so they don't rust in the paint?
Didn’t know these existed. Seems way more intuitive than the other style, and more comfortable looking.
Thanks for the demo very helpful 👍
Hoping the Zurc paint test is still in the works
It is 👍
Thanks Robert
Another great video. Thanks!
got mine the other day and love it. plan on buying a few more.
You should be able to turn the fan in the opposite direction so you get a different fan direction
Of coarse. Any way you want it to go
Thank you sir!!
Looking great, hope to be able to purchase one as well during the next year. Keep up the good work.
Great information as always!
Awesome shirt Robert!
I see the Grex best one there absolutely the best airbrush
Great video. Thank you sir!
Very welcome
I got all my swallowtail and fan caps and very very happy. I would like to see smaller Needle sizes .I use the 0,15mm in one of my H&S v2.0 I really like the small needles for German ww2 aircraft and tanks. I'm surprised how good this airbrush is very happy I have to order some for Friends .good price. Very happy with the price and There Customer service is incredible.
That's great. So glad you like it. Thanks for your support
@barbatosrex9473 some how it came early I wasn't expecting it for another couple weeks, but man I really enjoy it I been using it for a couple hours now and very accurate and impressed they did really good 👍 👏 👌
I was wondering about that, thanks for the explanation.
I bought one, but I'm having some trouble getting it up and running. I'm currently in contact with support for some weird near out of the box air pressure issues. It FEELS good to hold, though!
Update: I dropped it back to .28 and had no airflow issues. My problems seem to be related to either the .5 nozzle or needle. Edit: Also, the suggested psi level is 30 according to Gaahleri support - I'm used to spraying at 20, so this was good to know.
Great!
Thisll be great for painting guitars
Great video, man. You do an amazing job. 👏
Another great video sir.
Great video 👍🏿
Great Video was just asking about this
swallowtail is on my wish list those are some great looking colors 😁🤩ps curious on the primer you sprayed on that wing been trying to find that vid all week😎
That's Modo Black Primer. E7 primer is just like it too
thanks robbert takin notes🧐@@barbatosrex9473
I got mine in the mail a couple of days ago. Wonderful airbrush, but I do not like the stand at all. It does not have a locking mechanism like the ones I already own. If you go and move the airbrush while it is in the stand, it just slips right out and leaves the stand behind. It needs threads so that a quick-release can be attached to it.
Very good! It's funny, but I never really thought about it in all the time I've been using spray guns that it's duel action. I use the properties of that action all the time, I guess I just always have associated that term with airbrushes. So glad that things are going so well with both your paint line and your collaboration airbrush. I wasn't able to swing getting the airbrush this time around, but I will later, so I'll be able to use it with my Grex and have the ability to switch between them on a project.
I'm new to this after being away for 50+ year, which style of airbrush would be best for a newbie to learn with for someone in there young 70s. Enjoy the videos things sure have changed since I last did any modeling thanks again, an be well.
Probably a trigger style like the ones I showed in this video
Thanks again.@@barbatosrex9473
first time hearing your pronounce the channel name/alias. I've been saying BAR-BAY-TOAST this entire time.
Thanks!! One of these days maybe :)
Man you’re a Dream Theater fan. I knew you were cool LOL
One of my all time favorite bands. I bought their debut cassette the day it was released
@@barbatosrex9473 I hated when Mike Pontroy left.I have the Live at Budakan DVD. Saw them in Atlanta back in I think 96
@@toytechyou must be thrilled he's back
@@barbatosrex9473 wow did not know he came back. That’s great
@@toytechrejoined the band last month. Recording a new CD early next year
Ok I will give that a go if it gets to hot o will just have to keep an eye on it Male sure it stays below 120deg thanks you
Got my Christmas bonus today. Went to buy the Swallowtail...Out of stock =(
Oh no, more coming very soon
Robert I bought your Swallowtail airbrush but the box was damaged in shipping. Gaahleri sent me a replacement but now I have two and only need one so I thought I’d pay it forward and offer to you to use for a giveaway to your subscribers. The airbrush is unused and undamaged only the box has some corner denting. Let me know and I will send it to you.
That's generous of you, send me an email so we can exchange info. Triggerfish65@gmail.com
Very thoughtful and giving. Wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
Still waiting for the new stock 😢
The fan tip that you offer is great! What airbrushes does it fit? I just bought one of the Amazon best selling trigger type of airbrush. I haven’t tried it yet, cause I was really considering the Galleria pistol grip. If you know anything about the brand I got. I’d like to hear what your thoughts are. If I should send it back, and get the Galliria(I know I spelled it wrong) but I like that fan tip! It looks like it would work well for what I need an airbrush for
Hi Robert thanks again for ur hard work to do these videos...I have a question about useing a dehydrator for speeding up paint drying I have a old school round 1 with I thing 5 trays ita brown in color from.as seen on TV from like the 80s or 90s Haha no temp control will this work or get to hot
Put a thermometer in it and test to don't go over 120 degrees
..
What is the spray gun in the video that you grab ? Looks interesting... jamb gun ?
wondered what you looked like......always see your hands lol
As a beginner, is there a difference between using a trigger airbrush vs a dual action? Which one would be best to start with?
It's a personal preference. The trigger pistol style is probably easier to stsrt with
Thank you for your feedback, much appreciated.
i haven't run my airbrush in a few months, anthing i should do before reving it back up?
Will that fan cap fit on other airbrushes from Gaahleri?
It will not
