yes, it was poignant because the entire show was about people using other people, so he was yelling "I played your game, I used you, I know what your society is about!" (to Toranaga) At first I didn't understand the scene, now I do
He’s so wonderful and articulate. I admire him very much Edit: didn’t expect this many men to be offended over a basic statement lol. It’s so easy to make y’all upset when praising another man.. grow up
I watched the original Shōgun as a teenager, and I have to say that Cosmo Jarvis added dimension to John Blackthorne. He gave Blackthorne a more appropriate naivete at how he was being used in Toranaga's planning that wasn't present in Richard Chamberlain's Blackthorne. Well done, Mr. Jarvis.
Loving the show & Cosmo & all the actors are crushing it. So good. How awesome is Cosmo’s voice for Blackthorne - perfect for a salty sailor I must say…
At first I thought he was very much like Tom Hardy. But Coamo brings his own qualities to the character. I also see a bit of Michael Palin in him when he had to cause a hysterical diversion to protect Toramaga in the royal palanquin. Brilliant and captivating actor for sure

Anjin was a disturbance for Japanese and Cosmo got this part perfectly in his performance. Every scene with him felt like he was disturbing the ambience.
Yeah, he used the book well. For example: The way he walks, with the swagger of a sailor, comes directly from a description in the Original. He did well.
I agree that he's certainly expressed the inner monologue the character had in violent and alien situations. It's a challenge to pull of a natural oh s#** expression when thrown into a maelstrom of politics, war and assasins. Still has to navigate romance on top of the chaos. Expertly done.
When I first saw him in episode one, I actually had to do a double take and make sure it wasn’t Tom Hardy because he sounded like him and acted like him so much lol. Amazing actor though, he is the reason I’m so captivated by the show to be honest.

Same thing Richard Chamberlain did in the 1980 Shogun mini-series.

He's a very intense, articulate actor.
Can't wait to see where his career goes!
Yep! Reminds me in both looks and acting style, as Tom Hardy.
I like him in peaky blinders
He was a better musician
His style is more suitable for plays, than screen.
@subutaynoyan5372 Nope. Seen him in Shogun and 1 movie so far and he's by far the best actor in both of them, not even close.
man that episode 5 was SOMETHING. the tension during that dinner scene was amazing

Cosmo Jarvis played in a band at my dads house about 15yrs ago. He’s from Devon and played at my Dads in Modbury, Devon.
He sounds so different in real life than in the show and that's just a testament to how good of an actor he is
He is actually a great singer as well. Definitely a well-rounded artist. Love him
Cosmo Jarvis has to be the most British name I have ever seen
Jarvis is Anglo Norman so that’s fair but Cosmo is actually an Italian or Spanish name.
And he’s from New Jersey
