Lol for me it literally was! In high school one of my teachers has us team up with a classmate and play this game the whole period.
I think we had to track our progress and note down how well we had down by the end. We got to play it a handful of times and it was always fun, but I feel like my friend and I were always distracted by the horrific character designs

It was the issuing of non-fixed loans to subprime lenders and selling the debt in order to add those debts to bonds to get a high rating from a bond rating board due to the bond being diversified (high number of loans) and the selling those falsely high rated bonds to every major industry as a sure way to hold value and then those lenders defaulting and dropping the value of the bond below the issuing price is what crashed the economy.
Subprime lenders taking out loans to pay loans, and the general practice of increasing the debt a lender had to sell to bondsmen to add to bond is only the balancing act that the entire crash rested upon.
One could argue that that practice delayed the crash to 2008 instead of around 2006 when it probably should have happened

The reason why the crash happened was because people who are bad with money were taking out loans because the government called the banks racist for not giving people who are bad with money loans.
