Def looks easier solo. 1 because enemies scale with the number of players and 2 you don't need to deal with idiotic teammates dying all the time.

I honestly don't know what it is about the tormentors in the campaign, but they're harder than the bosses. Hell, I died more to the tormentor at the beginning of the Final mission than I did during the Witness fight and that was on solo legend.
