In 1903, Alfred Noyes penned a timeless tale of passion and tragedy-The Highwayman, the story of a fearless rogue and his love, Bess, the innkeeper's daughter. Ever since I first encountered this haunting poem in junior high, I've dreamed of bringing it to life on screen, especially after hearing Loreena McKennitt's captivating musical rendition.
Now, that dream has become a reality. With lyrics inspired by Noyes' powerful words, I'm thrilled to share my vision of The Highwayman-complete with an epic sword duel under the moonlight, because what's a HiStory without a bit of blade action?
This footage was shot nearly twenty years ago, but I recently rediscovered it and knew it had to become part of 'Heath the History Guy.' So, sit back, and enjoy this cinematic journey through love, loss, and legend.
