The problem is simple - rent is too damned high and people can't afford to live in a proper house or apartment even if they have a full-time job (or two). Keep on electing people like the Gavin to run your state and I'm sure you'll get good at helping out the homeless.

If I drive into Yosemite and try setting up camp without a paying a fee and getting a permit, the park authorities will cite me and throw me out. If I drive up to Oregon and enter a BLM area and try the same, again, fined and tossed out. So, if that is the way those situations are handled, tell me why setting up camp in city parks, on city sidewalks or open spaces along side waterways cannot be treated in like fashion?

The answer seems obvious: because you have a home to return to.

Nice try. But Democrats have been running this state and Silicon Valley for decades and have done NOTHING. Except import millions of illegals who take up available aprtments. The bunch of illegal guys split the rent for a unit, while a senior on a fixed income can't. And for the real crazies, it's "compassion" and virtue signalling from the liberals here. Now they all get upset and don't understand that thier voting blue no matter who for decades results in this. The local media never reports on the real reasons, but pushes the liberal narrative that you obviously believe. I live in the SF Bay Area, 4th gen, I know.

It's not so much the homeless encampments (yes, they are dangerous and unsafe and unfair to business owners), it's the godawful filth, stench and and safety & health hazards they bring 24 hours everyday.. Being homeless isn't an excuse to live in, what basically is a nasty dump.
What are homeless advocates doing to at least make an effort to try to come up with humane solutions. Not everyone who is homeless wants to be homeless and should not only be the focus on finding housing but how about job training that is stable, like trade work interwoven with tech?
How about taken mental health actually serious in the open instead of glossing over it or just completely ignoring the obvious. SF and Oakland (as other cities with problems and no cares.) mayors, I'm looking at you!
I bet if SF, Oakland mayors as well as other cities and California had an actual forensic audit of all of their books, there is tons of money that could be put to better use than all the waste govenrnents not only waste of frivolous and useless spending, but also unnecessary overspending on government employees an and those who have roles in government.
What did the governor waste all that surplus money in the budget? It certainly didn't go to schools, better teachers, better run hospitals and mental health and addict access to medical, etc., it didn't go to law enforcement or protecting the electrical grid (oh, wait PGE is a monopoly that shouldn't be!), public transportation that is 100% safe and clean and just overall strengthening California's infrastructure that needs to be modernize and able to handle the ever increasing house building, traffic, medical, etc. . There isn't enough water now.
Even cities and counties should audit their books too. Sorry that went way off topic, but, California like all states and even the federal government, is wasting tons of money without full disclosure on things no one needs or is useful or beneficial and just politicians' greed. We need to have the books audited and get rid of the unnecessary spending. NO BUDGET EVER IS when budget cuts are "needed" while cutting the most needed and shouldn't ever be touched unless putting more money into investing in those services to just get better. Politicians sure don't care about the people and communities they needs votes from. Because they certainly have shown they don't really care about anyone except bettering their pockets and useless projects.
