This is the most perfect little bass boat for the person who can't afford the luxurious bigger bass boat. Thanks for the info dude.
I fished out of one for quite a few years. They were call Bass Hunter boats back in the 80’s-90’s. Perfect for smaller lakes. They go pretty fast with a 55 lb thrust trolling motor on the back.
The wire in the boat what is it hooked to? Is there power on those wires?
It’s also a good option for people like me who are appalled by the prices of used aluminum boats. 😅
Two years later this motor is going strong czcams.com/users/postUgkxBZWgzfpS2Jj7JqIHyaSZjyVHNUgCKCBf Just uploaded a video of it after 2 years. We use it probably a dozen days each year on our small raft.-original review- We got this motor the other day and tested it out. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems good to me. It has all the features advertised - the motor housing is metal. We will see how it performs longer term and I will revise this review if needed. Some initial observations:- Good thrust, moves our boat around really well- It comes with a circuit breaker but no switch - so there's no way to kill the motor other than yanking the connection off the battery. I installed an inline switch.- The mount bracket is plastic and I worry it might break- There are a number of plastic parts that I worry about, but the most important ones are metal or some kind of composite
I had one of these style boats when I first started fishing. It was a water scamp brand and it was awesome. These boats are a great option for getting off the bank.
Stellar review! Thanks for sharing your wisdom. I've been waffling about purchasing a platform like this or a "real" (and much more expensive) boating rig, but your intelligent/thorough review convinces me that my 11 yr-old son and I can get it done with a rig like yours. HUGE thanks for enlightening me! You rock!!
I have one too and have loved mine for many years...many many bass caught in mine...super durable and easy to load and unload even by myself...fits right in the back of any full sized truck
Thanks for all those details, batteries, etc. The fact that I can put it on my roof rack is fantastic. Very, very helpful.
Just sold me on one...thank you for an excellent video and description of how to use it.
New subscriber. Just wanna say I'm impressed with your well planned and articulate video and look forward to viewing more of what you've created. Been looking at small fishing boats for months and couldn't decide. This video made up my mind. Love the boat. Thanks and God bless.
This is a VERY informative and helpful video! Thank you!!! After watching your overview of the Pelican Bass Raider 10e vs a review of the smaller 8' Pelican boat, this one takes the cake!! Now I know what I want and just have to go after getting it :)
I've been watching your videos now for 5 months and enjoyed everything. I'm picking up my bass raider this weekend all because of your videos. Thank you.
That's so great!!! I'm sure you'll love it...
Thanks for your support!
I just wanted to say thank you for the great information on the pelican bass raider. I just bought me one because I watched you enjoying your pelican bass raider and it seems like a great way to get out there and fish. Keep up the great job and I just subscribed to your channel.
I appreciate very much how you get right to the information, and talk fast enough not to be boring, yet understandable. Thamks
I don't comment too often on youtube, but seriously don't know how you don't have more subs. I recently became more active with fishing (mainly bass and walleye) and your vids help out a lot. Keep on fishing brother!
I've been looking into getting one of those bass raiders. After your videos I think I'm going to get on this spring. Awesome work as always.
Cornell! You're awesome! We respect your opinion. I'd like you to share with us your top favorite lures.
I LOVE the simplicity of this.... a "lightweight" Jon boat.... the stable thing the best...
years ago was in one nearly identical to this one... there were 2 of us.. that tried to sink it.. get it to flip... never did..with both of us in one corner even....
Agreed on an excellent review, I am in the market for one of these and you've helped make this decision simple, thanks!
Outstanding review. No fluff. Hitting all cylinders. Thanks!
So glad I found your channel. Awesome tips and well spoken. Thank you
I've been looking at these. I believe this video has convinced me!
Thank you. Great review.
I just bought one looking forward to taking it out this week end...thanks for sharing helped out a lot .
Mine come Thursday this review convinced me to pull the trigger and purchase it. Thanks for the in depth review
Just got my pelican bass raider .
Can't wait to hit the water .
Looking to take it to the lake at Seneca.
Maybe out to rocky gap as well.
Thanks for your vids
I just found them looking for reviews on the pelican.
You do a great job. I can tell you are having a blast.
I can tell you that from my on experience you will have a absolute AWESOME fishing experience with your little Pelican ‼️Many years ago , when I was just getting into bass fishing , I bought one of these fish catching machines. I fished in lots of ponds , rivers and even in the big lakes around here. I caught my personal best largemouth bass out of that same boat (11lb. 14 oz.). You certainly are in for many enjoyable fishing excursions and most likely will catch more fish out that rig than you think ‼️Brings back many a good memories just looking at your video ‼️
Great video man. Ive had my raider for 3 years now and love it. I do have a 3hp gas motor on mine so I just carry one battery now. Keep it up man, love watching you show.
Thanks bud!!! Will do...
A horse trailer rubber mat makes a great floor mat and adds to the stability due to the additional bottom weight when standing.
Thank you for sharing. Hopefully I will have one of these this summer of my own too.
Great review and the way you break it all down is very simple, clear, and total common sense approach. Thanks!
Thanks!
You're welcome!!!
I wasn't even interested in one of these boats but after watching your review now I want one 🤔🤔🤔
Durp
Same
same
I put my trolling motor on the front; it helps with steering (especially in wind) and it allows me to make quick adjustments while I fish- while protecting my propeller. I busted up one on Lake Fork timber using reverse for positioning.
Thanks for the review. I have watched this video several times. I can't wait to get me one. 👍
Thanks Cornell, great review, this really helps me in my decision, cuz I been debating on whether or not to pick one of these pelicans up. Great job, really thorough review.
No problem!!! Thanks Steve...
I always wondered about your pelican. Thank you for the video you actually answered everything and then some!
Cool! Your'e welcome...
Recently came across your channel and I really enjoy your videos. Not everyone has a $30k Bass Boat. It's refreshing to see someone doing fishing videos from shore most of the time, proving that you can catch bass walking the shore line. Great incentive for the younger fishermen, or someone brand new to the sport.
I've had my Bass Raider for a few years now and have made 3 modifications/add-ons that has made things very convenient. First thing I did was add a 7 inch pedestal to one of the seats. I'm very tall, and that extra 7 inches makes a world of difference. Not only is it more comfortable on the knees and circulation, it also allows me to sit higher while fishing and be able to see just as well as standing up.
The second mod I made was bolting 4 small D-rings to each gunwale, 2 inside, 2 opposite of them on the outside, with about 4ft between them. That allows me to strap down Rods I'm not using at the moment. I unfortunately learned the hard way that eventually you will knock rods off sitting them on top of those sides. I lost 3 rods at one time having them sitting up there unsecured. I caught a fish and as I was unhooking it, the rod I was using fell and hit the 3 sitting on the side and over they went into 30 feet of water never to be seen again.
The last mod I made was a make shift rod holder that can hold 4 rods. I used lengths PVC pipe that fit snugly in the corner holders on the boat that extended about 3 inches above the plastic bracket. I added a 90 degree elbow to each piece, an between that I have four evenly spaced 4 way cross fittings mounted so the open parts of the fitting are straight up and down. Just stick a rod in and it stands perfectly. Been quite a while, but I believe it was 1 1/4 inch PVC that I was using.
I'm glad you found my channel!!! Thanks man!
This is exactly what I was hoping for with this video. Thanks for adding some great ideas for the crowd to consider!
This was my first boat. Three boats later I still miss it. Absolute fish catching machine.
Dang!!! Bout a kayak for about the same price as that setup! 1 year ago! Didn't know about the pelican! My kayak is a pelican. I need to sell it for the raider!!! Great video as always!!! Love it man!
good job on the description... I've got one of these and they are awesome... I've added awesome mods to it and use it in the south Padre island bay... hey it catches fish just the same as being in a bigger boat..I love my raider
Finally and excellent review. Thank you sir
I just realized I'm gonna be able to have my own bass boat. : ) AWESOME.
true dedication to your passion nothing fancy but enough to go out satisfy your fix for the Big Bites 🎣. I'm feelin that set up sounds very cost efficient too!👍😉
Cornell, I'm a big fan of your videos. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Thanks!!! Will do..,.
.... First off, don't know if you rehearsed or did this off the cuff but it was what everyone wants, short, direct, to the point, no um's, ah's etc. YOU did a GREAT job speaking. .... I have a 24' Triton 240 LTS Bay Boat but for back waters (snakeheads) I would like this type over a kayak for the simple thing of being higher off the water to see better when fishing shallow cover. Easy to stand up then sit back down. More stable.
Will be keeping my eye out for used one.
Great review!!!! Subscribed.
.
Very good and helpful information. Thanks for posting. I have been dithering over my choice of pontoon style, canoe, Jon boat, or kayak for a small fishing boat. Leaning towards one of these. All of the options seem to be similar in cost when kitted out. The Pelican and Jon boat are the heaviest options, but the pontoon is the most stable design for similar capacity. I do not foresee portaging my boat often, so the weight is less of an issue in my expected circumstances.
Great review. Thank you. I'm really enjoying your vids.
Thanks!!!
Awesome breakdown, this was very informative and I will be looking to get this same setup come March Thanks!
Thanks!!! Cool...
You're welcome!
Just stumbled on this video. OUTSTANDING REVIEW!! I was looking at a kayak but I think I've found a better and cheaper way to go. Thanks.
Nice review, spin that trolling motor head add a foot switch and put it on the bow with a handle extension and you will love it. Great fishing boat, thanks.
used them for years, Have a bass Buddy with rear molded in wheels now-Wonderful , 55 lb motor, we use suspender life jackets, and always take one paddle. Great article and we are both on the same page. Fish Strip Pits mostly. Missouri is full of them. Thanks a bunch
Sounds like great setup! Thanks bud...
The pits sound great!
Well I'm getting one. Thanks for the awesome video and thanks for the help. Keep up the good work!
You'll love it!!! You're welcome & will do...
man me and my dad have been staring this boat down ad we are finalley going to get on today, im so hyped
Very cool! Congrats!!!
You're going to love having a trailer for the BR. Especially since you fish alone on it 90% of the time like I do. I'm older so it makes it way easier to hit a couple of spots in the same day because you don't have to take the whole thing apart and reassemble again. This will be the third season with my boat. I also run the Endura Max and never even came close to running a group 24 battery down. I average 6 to 8 hrs a trip.
I
Thats a nice little rig man! glad you went over it!
I had a Grumman 17ft bass boat. 40hp mariner outboard. Foot control trolling motor. Hunt grass print seats. Very nice bass boat. The pelican bass raider by far more joyful to fish in than any boat available. Stable and floats in 8in of water. Goes up in small coves that big boats only dream of venturing. Even saw video of someone installing a canopy and tastefully done. I have a late 80's sundolphin mini bass in peach condition. And a pelican bass raider 8ft. If someone's thinking about purchasing one. They won't be disappointed.
Been doing research for months on kayaks and canoes and you sold me on this instead. Awesome
Good deal! You'll love it...
Love this video brother. Thanks you for the overview. I have the non electric version and I love it.
Great video and a cool fishing rig!
The wife and I just bought a pelican bass Raider 10e with a new Minn Kota trolling motor 40 lb thrust and we got to the 27 group deep cycle batteries from Everstart. 109 amp hours. I hope it works out good for us.
How’d it work out? How many hours would you get
Awesome video! I've been waiting for it for a while because I have the same boat. I run it almost exactly like yours except I bought a Bullnose Rudder for the trolling motor and it helps position the boat quite a bit. Thanks for the video!
Thanks man! The rudder sounds like a good idea...
I have the same boat, I love it! Well worth the money. I only have a min kota 36 thrust but I'm planning on upgrading to a 55 thrust in the spring.
Nice and simple boat to enjoy fishing. No need of hi tech fancy gadgets that's what I like. Your uploads are enjoyable to watch. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks & you're welcome!!!
Awesome review!!!! Love the vids. I'm a fan
Thanks Danny!
Awesome vid brother. That is the EXACT setup I want. Keep up the awesome vids man.
Thanks! Will do.,.
Super good video about your PELICAN! I own a PELICAN MONACO DLX PEDAL BOAT with a Minnkota 35 lb trust troller with variable speed plus multi speed reverse. I even have ultra bright port/starboard lights, a tall stern light w/flag and a warning horn that can carry 3-5 miles 😎. It's the perfect size boat for me and my style of bass fishing. Can't say enough good things about the PELICAN line of boats. I can load and unload at ponds, streams, rivers , and lake areas where the bigger boats can't get to. It, too, is a pontoon boat by classification. Weights 135 lbs and weight capacity is 775. Holds me, my husband, our 🎣 gear and a full YETI. Not bad for a "micro" pup of a boat that thinks he can run with the big dogs !! 👍. For me, I thought through my fishing needs VS price. Hands down the PELICAN won across the board. Like you, I have ZERO regrets about my choice of a "micro" boat for fishing.
Ive had 21' Bass Boats and Yaks but love fishing out of my 2-Man. Suggestion: Take your trolling motor partially apart and reverse the direction of the handle as it relates to the motor. This way you face the motor and it pulls you where you want to go. You have much more control this way! Try it!
Best review on Bass raider ever thankssss
Subscribed! Great videos, in my area in Wisconsin I have 20+ 100 acre and less lakes/ponds within 20 min and backing the big boat down these little narrow launches was getting old so I sold it and just got the bass raider 10e! Years back I owned a bass raider 8 and loved it but was just a tad to small so I’m hoping when I get the new 10 out it’s the best of both worlds.
2 month update! I’m so glad I went with this boat thanks to your video. I been using and abusing this thing! Out of all my big bass boats and fishing boats I owned in the past I’d take this boat over all of them. No trailer, no motor maintenance, no more squeezing a 40 ft truck/trailer combo down a tiny launch. Just back the truck up and throw it in the water and go! I’m 6ft 250 and my buddy is 6,4 300 and we both stand in this boat... really can’t thank you enough for this video again!
Solid review!
Pelican International Thanks!!!
Sweet set up so simple, I have a hobie and I'm thinking about selling that for one of these thanks for sharing
I've been debating on whether to get a kayak...I am one of those big guys you mentioned, but I had a disk in my back do some spinal cord damage a couple of years back, so lets just say I'm not "sure footed". Now not being sure footed shouldn't be an issue when you're sitting in a kayak, but it's the getting in and out that has me concerned. I wen't fishing with my dad in his 17' bass boat...I backed it in for launch, parked the truck and walked out on the dock where he was waiting.....FML that was scary as hell.
I think this is going to be my best bet for on-water fishing, given my limitations. Thank you for your review, and I'd be interested in seeing more vids of cool mods for your boat.
Great video. Here’s a tip if your interested. Turn the head of the trolling motor 180 degrees by removing the bolt that holds the head. Then bolt it back up. Mount the motor back on the front of the boat now. Take a piece of plywood and make a skag-rutter and mount it on the transom with a couple small c clamps. Now you can sit at the front come on on spots holding fish and target them by sight fishing. It’s way better and produces a lot more fish for me anyways. Thanks for the video loved it!!
Just retired at 50 years old. I was looking small Jon Boat or a Fishing Kayak then I came upon some comments of a Jon boat vs fishing kayak vs? and the person had said dont discount stuff like the Pelican Bass Raider...and i thought Hmmm whats a Pelican Bass Raider 10e? came to a few videos..yours and another guy who really modded his out a LOT...how great..I think I just found what I want...in this I have a much more stable platform to stand up in and fish than a Fishing kayak...can carry more and its relatively transportable with a trailer..even just a flat utility type trailer. I will probably have one of these next year for fishing season..looking forward to it! Thanks for the video between yours (running it almost stock) and the other guys(with all the mods) for me fishing 99% of the time by myself on lakes where no power motors allowed or on a slower moving river(Susquehanna between Williamsport and Harrisburg PA) where a 3.5 HP outboard would work just fine..I cant think of a better choice. I do have a old 1950's era 8' row boat BUT this Pelican platform is much roomier and STABLE than the old row boat ;)..TY for the video!
YOU PROMISED ME AND WE GOT IT! THANK YOU CORNELL! I would love to find out how you transport this boat to your local lakes!
I happy to do it!!! As I mentioned, I just put it on top of my vehicle and strap it down...
Great vid. Just watched your warden video and this one! Subscribed now! Great videos and positive attitude! Refreshing!
Thanks Greg! I'm glad to have you...
Great review, Cornell! LOVE your videos!
Thanks man!!!
I'll be modifying a 1974 14ft Sea Sprite tri-hull boat this spring. Got the boat from a friend for free and been upgrading here and there. Once I finish, I'll take a short video and post in here. The next time your at your in-laws place, maybe swing up to southeastern WI for a great time fishing a friend's pond. There's some 5 lbers in there...fun stuff. Would be great to fish with you. ;-)
Great review. I fish almost exclusively from a kayak, but I like your setup. It seems like a nice affordable alternative for the times when I have wanted to fish further away from my launch point than I feel up to paddling to.
Thanks bud! Having both would be a great thing to consider...
Awesome set up, man! Enjoyed this one
Thanks bud!
Awesome my man, thinking about investing in one this summer! Thank you!
Cool! No problem...
Very nice, thorough review. Thanks. Subscribed.
Thanks Adam!!!
Man I love mine like you say very stable I`m 315 lb. no problem with boat tipping . I also have a Mercury 3.3 hp. motor on the back trolling motor on the front . I bought mine from Academy . I have one battery but I do have a gas motor on the back . I took my depth finder cut me a piece of poly board it looks like a plastic cutting board cut the about two inches longer than my deapth finder base mount a wide enough to fit in the gunnel track so all I have to do is set it in the floor till I`m ready to use it then set it where ever I want it on the gunnel . Yeah I only fish one person out of my bass raider also . Enjoyed the video wished I could show a pic. of my set up
Bought the 8’. Wanted one for so long. Paired to 55# minnkota. Returned it. Mainly bc I’m 6’3 400#. Had to be in center. Best part was putting motor straight in 2-3 speed and stand up. Lean left or right to turn. Great for fishing. Found a steal for diff boat I’m happy with. Saving for a paddle qwest pontoon myself tho.
awsome video I like your videos for the reason your very informative an you take time to explain things keep em coming
Thanks Sam! Will do...
Great video, I have almost the exact same setup! Bass Raider 10e, Endura Max 55, and no mount for my sonar.
Nice meeting you on Saturday brother, you were the reason why I wanted to get a boat like this haha that was my first time taking it out fishing
You too!!! That's great to hear!
I enjoyed this review. I'm definitely in the market for a small, durable, lightweight boat like this. I love fishing the bayous around Texas. Plenty of bass, catfish, bluegill and gar . I'm thinking of purchasing all of the equipment you showed here.
Thanks again for this review. I've just subscribed to your channel.
Tight lines 😊
Thanks man!!!
Excelente viejo !!!
Como siempre, muy buenas reseñas...saludos desde Monterrey México.
Awesome !!!
As usual, great review.
Gracias amigo!!!
Great vid! Should have bought that!
Awesome review.I enjoy all your videos.
Thanks Matt!!!
Fantastic review my man!
THX!!!
Great presentation 💯💯💯
Great review, the only thing I would add is I would recommend Rod Floaters for the fishing rod. Rods in these small boats are easy to get knocked over the side and having them be able to float has kept me from losing my hard earned cash. Unfortunately it didn't work for my phones... :)
I'm 310 lbs and i can stand all day on this thing!
Awesome Review.
Can you stand on the edge, and how is it now?
Love the idea of only taking one seat with two people....good on ya.
Can't wait to see ya out on it again
I can't wait to get out on it again!!! LOL...
Thanks for the vid! I'm considering purchasing one of these boats.
No problem!!!
That's a sweet little boat man love the vids!
Thanks bud!
awesome video. great looking boat.
I'm 275lbs and I am now seriously looking to get one of these.
Great vids and awesome tips always.
Keep them coming.
Take Warden Warden fishing one day.
Thanks man! Will do.,..
I should!
Great video!
Super informative! Been having an eye on one of these for some time . How would this do in a river?
I need to get this and get it hooked up like you. Great video about the Pelican.
You'd love it! Thanks man...
Hey brother, I started following you after watching your blackened fish video. Similar to that video, this one is also an awesome awesome video! Very thorough! I really wanted to point out, for what it's worth, you have a real knack for being a great speaker! I was really impressed and felt like I was watching a bass pro commentation. Keep it up!
Thanks man! Will do...
