Thank God !! Finally a hairdresser who doesn't tell you "OMG hair box dyes are bad, go to a salon". Like you said, a professional hairdresser is much more expensive than a box dye and everybody can't afford it. So thanks! Kiss from France
She's not a hairdresser though...
@@sarahbon421 Whatever
@@sarahbon421 she actually is, she quit hairdressing inside a salon. My cousin did the same, sheâs licensed but does not work inside a salon
Can I be honest? I watched this twice now and even zoomed in and I cannot tell the difference at all. Both sides look exactly alike.
The difference might be visible when she decides to bleach it againđ
Her right side is a bit brighter and a bit more purple. Left side is a bot darker and a bit closer to red than purple.
Oh so see a color difference my be hard for some but one side looked "washed out" lighter then the other.
@@honeybaby4740 It did :)
Prepare to have Brad groupies attack you. Lol. It's so entertaining.
Stella: This year I'm not going to touch my hair to become healthy again.
Also Stella: Let's dye my hait with box dye!
I honestly dont see the problem with box dye cos I cant afford salon dyes
@@tigerlily2194 just because itâs cheap doesnât make it good tho?
Idk cuz box dye never ruined my hair
@@tigerlily2194 if your going to dye your hair multiple times I recommend salon dye since (for me personally) it can do 3-5 dyes for like $20 aud instead of 10aud per dye for box dyes, I did use box dye at one point but Iâm so glad Iâve changed since I actually saved money
Theres some dyes that dont damage the hair
Ok but Stella really has the perfect profile. Every time she does her posing and you see a side profile of her face Iâm just floored
right like I didn't ask to feel suicidal today lol
Appreciate Video! Sorry for chiming in, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you tried - Millawdon Goodbye Gray Trick (Sure I saw it on Google)? It is a great exclusive product for learning how to reverse gray hair fast without the headache. Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my BF at last got excellent results with it.
That shirt really brings out your eyes!! It's lovely đ

@@user-pi8zk3pb8j her eyes are still blue. Yes, she wears contact but I'm pretty sure they are blue/green.
BRAD MONDO GET OVER HERE
YES PLEASEEEEEEE
No
Ahh well he needs to react to other people.
Brad Mondo made a video on box dye vs salon grade already and he switched up the mannequins to make it look like the box dye was worse but the box dye looked better lmao. Other people made a video comparing the same dyes he used and the box dye looked better
@@goblincatgirl low key feel like this video is a jab at that video. And I'm here for it. That video made me lose so much trust in him
I honestly don't get the drama over this topic. People has use box hair dye for decades and nobody has any issue. If it look bad, it was probably becuase the person doing it was not a professional. I use it once in a while, I've had my hair done at the salon by professionals, and honestly, there's no freaking difference. Just the price.
As a correction specialist, box dye is my nightmare. Im 23. So it's nothing to do with old styles or formulas either. I tell people only use a box if you plan on being that color for the rest of your life or will pay hundreds of dollars to get it safely out...
I think the problem with box dye is that most of the time the developer ist just way too high for the purpose it's used for which leads to unnecessary damage
Agree đŻ
Totally agreed......Amen for speaking the truth đđ»đđ»đđ»đđ»
I guess some brands of box dye may be bad, but we can just look at reviews now. So I really dont get the issue either. I guess the main problem is that people really donât know what theyâre doing. đ Also alot of box hair dye brands show the end results on the box for each type of hair, so you can see if its recommended to use the dye on your hair or not. If you just do your research and read the instructions you should be fine with box dye. (And make sure that you are not allergic đ)
Someone: nobodies perfect
Stella: I dont think we have met yet
For realllll
I wish I was a hairdresser! I dye my hair all the time with box dye or semi permanent bc I cant buy the professional stuff and its so expensive in my country. Im happy it came out so nice on you
Legit when I finish my computer science degree im gonna to study hair đ
@@katienoodle6712 yesss, enjoy! i'm gonna be a hairdresser on the side too lolđ
Same! I'm too broke for the professional hair dye
I absolutely love boxed color. Been using them for atleast 15yrs. I color my hair between every 3-6 months (to a different color). My hair is very thick and almost 3 feet long. It costs a fortune to go to a "professional" and any time I have, my hair is left feeling dead. With box color my hair always feels like silk (except with bleach). I will always choose box over a salon. And sometimes I buy those boxes that are only $3 so I can do my hair for about $9 myself or go to a salon and spend $100.
Same. Salons just steal my money and destroy my hair every time.
She can never go wrong with any colour. Literally. đđ»đ„°
omg that end outfit and make up, all of it was GORGEOUS
My God Stella đ stunning results †I love box hairdyes
I love the color and the difference between is very subtle.
You look amazing with literally every color! đ
Thank you so much for not shaming anyone using box dye!!
Oh wow. It came out so pretty! đ±đâ€ïž
I can't get over how beautiful she is no matter what freaking hair color she has. She can pull off ANYTHING. and this color is EVERYTHING
I love how you kept to the same brand to make it a fair assessment and even the developers as well. This was alot of fun to watch and thankyou for doing this đ„° love your videos
box dyes get such a bad rap and i don't know why? I think they fade a bit quicker, which honestly can be nice because your roots aren't as obvious. They are slightly cheaper, which is a bonus. They are definitely easier to use for the average person since the developer and dye is pre separated and you just have to mix them. Personally I dont see a huge difference in the quality of the dye. I also dont think they are more difficult to get out of the hair unless you are using a really dark color. I think people just like to bitch.
I think Brad has mentioned not liking box dyes because they arent clear on what developer they are using but I guess I just assume they are using 20 volume. TBH that doesnt really matter that much either unless its a 40 volume, they all sort of work the same in my experience.
Box dyes use awful ingredients, are high in ammonia and use straight up 40 volume developer. Because they need it strong because its "one size fits all". One size fits all should be enough to not use it, but everything else added up plus you've got so many better options that you just don't need to. Sally's has so much that isn't going to fry your hair.
It's all marketing, person A invents a problem to sell person B a solution.
It's either that or person A tells a flat out lie or exaggerates the truth a little to sell a product, for example, they say ALL box colour contains metallic salts, when it's just for men that has metallic salts, or at least the type that causes a bad reaction when mixed with hydrogen peroxide or ammonia....which funnily enough is included with a regular box kit, so why would a box kit that contains the same chemicals not have a reaction with ammonia and hydrogen peroxide, but have a reaction with salon product? Especially since in my experience there is higher levels of ammonia in box kits?
I have used both salon grade and box colour, used bleach on both, and there was no difference in the bleach's ability to lift out the darker colour. Ever. Nor has my hair smoked or turned green or disintegrated like all these horror stories hairdressers like to tell customers...and that's both at home with salon grade bleach, box bleach, hairdressers, out side, inside or with a side of green eggs and ham: it's probably an old wives tale.
I have been told that cheaper shampoo and conditioner is "bad" because it contains silicones and waxes...but then I compare the product their shilling to a bottle of good ol Pantene, and they are pretty much the same, just the salon brand is more concentrated than supermarket brand.
The only difference between box and salon hair dye is that box colour does make my hair feel drier and box colour triggers my migraines (both probably from the higher amounts of ammonia), and you can make the dye stronger or weaker by adjusting the volume of cream developer, but if you don't need to adjust the strength and you have no issues with box colour, keep using it!
They do that for the same reason why as any other company: they want your $$$. End of story. I live in Australia if that means anything as well.
@Martina Smith they usually are 40 vol, having said that I still use them all the time and wonât be stopping any time soon đ
But boxdye are 40 volume đ
@Martina Smith I've never used any that made my hair feel bad. It's mostly bleach that destroys my hair, and whenever I use a dye over my hair it tends to feel BETTER lol. But maybe the super duper cheap brands are more damaging. In my experience i haven't noticed too much of a difference tho.
Every color looks great on you đ
I once dyed my hair "chestnut brown" with some box dye from Palette. It was supposed to be a non-permanent color and should wash out in like a month or so. I had virgin dark blonde/light brown hair.
Instead of rich brown hair with red undertones (chestnut) I got a completely black hair with purple undertones. Never washed out completely, had to grow it out. Since then I use only semipermanent colors like Arctic Fox, Crazy Color etc.
Iâm late to this party but I was searching for videos on Schwartzkopf box dye color. This color is absolutely gorgeous on you. Stunning! Now Iâm inspired and looking forward to picking the perfect red/violet for me. âșïž
Looks so gorgeous.
Love it steela.
The best.
I started dyeing my hair with box dye a year ago and yes I dyed my hair black with box dye (don't kill me please) and after a month or so, my hair kicked down the box dye and I went beautifully back to my natural hair color and yes I followed all the instructions and I left it the proper time and still...my hair just said "nope I am not going to live this more on me" :))) so it depends on how your hair "absorbs" that color you're putting on it. Also I really like your videos, you always inspire me with new hair color ideas, I recently dyed my hair the exact same color as yours now :)) Love you Stella
Omg! I Love your top đđđđ
Thank you for the very open honest review! Very interesting to hear your professional opinion. Would love to see more videos of you doing other people's hair if possible!
I love this colour đ
Stella, small tip for the future. Mix the dye when you already have everything prepared (changed clothes, cream on face, gloves on etc.). All the time that you do those stuff after mixing, the dye is already 'working' and it should be applied right after mixing :)
Also: the second dye should be mixed after you apply the first one. It takes too long from mixing to applying. This may influence the test results.
I can already hear Brad Mondo crying đ
Me too!! :D
hes so annoying

that box dye is the one i use all the time! literally wearing it now omg!! *proud noises*
I loved color đ€©
I died my dark blonde hair brown once with LâOrĂ©alâs casting creme. It was supposed to last 30 washes.
It lasted a year and 2 bleaching sessions until I just had those hair cut off đŹ
Casting creme gloss use a little bit of hydrogen peroxide in the developer. It's not the same strength as permanent dies but depending on the hair nature I would suppose it changes your natural color. It "fades" with time but it doesn't go back to virgin hair.
@@julzalta6466 developer is hydrogen peroxide...
@@RavenfluxASMR I'm not saying it's not. Still, hydrogen peroxide do change to some extent the hair depending on its nature. Even in small amounts it can have a long time effect on some people's hair, and they won't get back their exact natural hair color just by letting it fade. That's what I'm saying.
It depends on how porous your hair is and blonde hair does stain anyway.
I had 'galaxy mermaid' ends which was a mix of pink, blue, turquoise and purple, which were all semi-permanent. After a few months it had all turned to emerald green and lasted almost 2 years before it all finally faded away.
I had so many compliments and people asking where I got the colour from, I wish I could re-create it but it probably wouldn't turn out the same.
I did the same thing and it took such a long time to go away!
You were born to rock red hair!!!! I love it
I am so glad you decided to try box dye.....since we are still in quarantine and sallons are closed, everyone is colouring their hair at home with box dyeđđđđ So thank you for this videođ€đžđ€đžđ€
Thanks Stella cinni for you're tutorial videos on CZcams .now I know how to dye hair at this pandemic
Nice purple hair colour xxxx
This video was a great idea. Both sides look good. Id love to see a follow up where you strip the colour and see if they both remove as easy
wow lovely color looks so good on you
I love your hair transformations so much, it's more hair art the way you wear it with your clothes and makeup, so visually pleasing!
U look amazingđ€©đ€©. U should also teach how to "MakeUp" on your CZcams channel. Ur makeup and hair are always on point with each other and I Love itđđ
The only difference I personally saw when I used box dye is that it washes out faster and leaves your hair dryer than professional color does...
I find that if u use a good color protection shampoo it's really good
i really like your haircut at the end !
another upload yass queen đ©đ
im gonna be colouring my hair soon, lets hope my hair doesnt fall out
in college i learned about why box dye's aren't great mainly because of the metallic salts present in in most box dyes and the metallic salts can sometimes react with lightening products causing major damage (some people have lied about using box dyes and ended up with their hair falling out dye to the metallic salt reaction) but it depends it might not be like that now
This Live colour is full of metallic salts. If she bleaches over this colour her hair will be fried.... Again.
@@sarahbon421 yeah, which is why i dont like live box colours
Hi, you are amazing no matter what you use on your hair. âđŒ
That eye shadow đ€©
Those smokey eyes are absolutely gorgeous!!! Whenever I try that I end up looking like a panda with a hangover đ
love all the videos here!
You look so beautiful đ„° in every color
I love it!!
Looks amazing
I did this box dye on me during quarantine and I needed only 2 kits to do all my length which was 25-30 cm thick hair. So should be fine for people ^^
Your hair is always beautiful whatever color you choose Ms. Stellađđ here lots of salon ladies use the box ones we buy at the store so mostly its like doing it at home.. just they use equipment if so.. and also if you ask to be bleached... and they charge for the longer your hair is.. which comes out expensive... so at home I do.. sometimes like every once or twice a year to let my hair recover with condotioners etc.. surely wont comw out as the picture in the box but we are ok with it more since we have brown or black hair đ€
i have used a lot of their red and purpley metallic box dye colors they are really decent
there is at least an allergy allert on box dye, at the salon noone bothers to inform you. Had a terrible experience after dying my hair many maaany years and got anaphylactic shock and almost died...so
...be aware and carefull
That's why reputable salons do patch tests before...
salons normally do tests tho? perhaps the salon you went to had low standards.
anyone I've none who has even considered dying their hair at a salon (even if they never did it in the end) went in and asked to have a patch test when they were getting a hair cut. Of course idk where you live, but there's probably some form of law to do with patch tests being compulsory for exactly these reasons. Although it is of my opinion to do architecture tests and just about anything that's going on your skin in case of these things anyways.
I have never had a salon do a patch test lol they all assume it's fine
I'm sorry that happened to you but aren't salons supposed to do a patch test first for that reason.
Why Stella is soo freaking pretty?!

What else bcause I sleep in the morning..
Very interesting video. Iâve used the igora hair dyes a few times, but I wonder what a booster is.
Like you used a similar color to the dye but what would happen if you had used an orange or purple booster with the same dye ?
I have managed to get rid of black box dye from my hair, I left it to fade and used a crushed vitamin c tablet/strong shampoo mixture and used that on my hair and it pulled it all out and I was able to go back to blonde. Although I doubt it would work if it is freshly dyed but yeah thereâs that.
