To any XJ40 owners: Leaky injector seals can register as a fault 44 on you VCM. You'll bang your head against a wall trying to cure this - and if you've already addressed the usual suspects, I hope this is helpful! It's an easy fix and relatively inexpensive.

Yes that's correct. Orange light goes out when jag in motion.

I have seen this before.....does the rest of the display, so fuel, temp, oil, battery gauges, flicker?
The VCM itself, if you dismantle the cluster, is a seperate module.
      I would be included to.....
      - Check the VCM matrix has not let in air (there is some silver coating near where the vacuum would have been extracted, which goes a milky colour, if the displays vacuum is lost)
      - check the connector pins have no solder dry joints, re-solder if needed.
      - Main cause of issues, is dry joints around the transformers that supply the displays......this can cause flickering, or a loss of display.

Sensor lights on dash, door open seat belt etc. I have a 1987 xj40 Sovereign and it lights up orange but no symbols show anyone know how to fix.

Do you get the orange surround on the VCM, but no symbol in the inner matrix display?

I am fighting that exactly now, most of the time is cold solders on the power board (the one with a transformer on it) on the binnacle, so you must take it out, remove the white rear cover and resolder everything carefully.
