    Absolute master of the guitar...been listening to Kenny ever since I first heard him with Jimmy Smith and Grady Tate in the 60’s.

    Mr. Burrerll has more talent than I can ever hope for. On a bad day he is much better than me. After a rough start he found the groove.

      C C is the master of brushes. He played for Sammy Davis Jr for almost a decade in the earliest part of his career.

    Good to see him develop his arrangement from his big band version of about 40 years ago. 83 years old and still swinging as hell :))... BTW what's the drummer's name ? He did a fairly good job, very secure timing and good solo.

    I have the same guitar, a 67, i hope one day i can make it sound like Kenny does. well lets be real, maybe for just a minute or two.

      the guitar doesn't matter, the guitarist makes his own sound! i bet you have your own awesome sound as well! :)

      I know what you mean dude..the comment about "the guitarist making his own sound" is absolutely true of course..like Bird with the Grafton alto in Toronto or Clint Strong playing a dinged up Parker Fly ( A Parker Fly is a fabulous solidbody so I hope that people see my point of irony and nothing more here..)..and this being acknowledged,there are people who have held a Gibson Florentine (As Kenny calls it--"The Cut") and there are people who have not.
      ..and so..
      I really know what you mean dude.
      A 1967 Super 400?
      OF COURSE you hope you can do it justice!
      All my best to you Sir.

    What model Gibson is that: an L5 cutaway and different head stock inlay?

    • @Westwoodmusic
      @Westwoodmusic  Před 6 lety +2

      Hi Richard, I believe its a Gibson Super 400CES.

    • @johnattina8725
      @johnattina8725 Před 6 lety +5

      For many years Gibson's most expensive electric guitar. It has an 18" body & was designed to be loud as possible for big bands, (introduced in 1938 I think?) Early versions have no electronics so the body really rings out.
      The Super is for super jumbo body size. 400 is for $400. CES is for "cutaway electric Spanish". Super expensive during the Great Depression also. Meant strictly for professionals. The equal of $10,000 today - which is about what they cost now. Hand made one at time by special order only.
      Another reason I would be sorry to see Gibson fail, and they still make great guitars I think.

      @butchjackson4428 Před 2 lety +4

      @@testtone5523 - Burrell's go-to amps are Fender Twin Reverb, but he'll play any amp that gives a similar tone.

    Does anyone know how Kenny is doing healthwise these days? I know he's getting quite old.

      He's about as good as a soon to be 93 year old man can be. Won't travel (his wife won't let him) so he won't be at our wedding when I marry his daughter on September 21st.
