    I was looking at this video cause I just switched from Canon to the Sony a7III as my first full frame so I was looking for accessories. I didn't expect to see my bag in the video! I've had the blue version of that camera bag for about 2 whole years now, and it's still just as great as the day I first got it. I love it, and would highly recommend it!

    Great and informative Video :)
    Definitely going to buy some of those things, except the camera bag!
    I travel a lot, carry around a lot of stuff and it would be annoying pretty fast to wear that kind of bag all day long.
    Also, in my opinion, most of the bags look like normal backpacks, not like I’m carrying a camera.
    And the most important reason why I would never buy it is safety.
    Someone could easily walk behind you and take your camera out of it. If I’m wearing a backpack I need to take it off before I could take the camera out.

    You may already know this but coming in April is a 3.0 firmware update for the A7iii that will add an intervalometer to its features. Why they didn't include that when released is beyond me. Most cameras have that as standard these days.

    Love the video! I have a question though. For a timelapse, can't you use the s&q mode on the a7iii to get a timelapse?

    • @robb.sutton
      @robb.sutton  Před 6 lety +1

      Yes but you would be limited to a max of 1 fps and at only 1080p resolution. The timelapse of the clouds that I had in the video was 1 shot every 8 seconds vs. 1 shot a second you would get with S&Q and it was at the full 24mp. For longer timelapses or ones without a lot of movement...1fps will just look like sped up video vs. a true timelapse. I have never used one shot a second in timelapse footage. I think the lowest I have gone is one shot every 4 seconds to get that classic timelapse look.

      Completely depends on the situation and what you are trying to accomplish. I like to keep a 6 stop around because it is in the middle of the road when I don't want to carry a lot of filters. You can also get a ND filter that adjusts by rotating the outer glass like you do with a circular polarizer.

    I’ve watched a ton of videos on this camera and sensor cleaning and only a handful actually recommend using a rocket blaster to clean the sensor. Do you have any concerns that you could possibly make the sensor dirtier by doing this? How often are you switching lenses and in what conditions where you feel the need to clean your sensor every couple of weeks? Are you taking a picture of a white background and pixel peeping for dust and then cleaning or just blasting the sensor because you think it might be dirty? I am only asking because these are the concerns I have and questions I have been asking myself. Owned the a7iii for a couple months and haven’t felt the need to clean the sensor yet.

    • @robb.sutton
      @robb.sutton  Před 5 lety

      Outside a lot. The Rocket Blaster really helps in situations where you can see the dust on your images (bigger particles). You hold the camera upside down and blow up into it so they fall out. For very small debris that would require pixel peeping...you would want to use one of the alcohol wipe kits. I rarely do that.

    • @superbeanboy
      @superbeanboy Před 5 lety

      I feel like swapping lenses quicker and using discretion when doing so will go far beyond using a cheap accessory in terms of preserving the sensor.

  • @PauloRicardoSantos

    I agree with you on everything except for the Adobe plan. I don't understand how you can say its not expensive when it cost 100 bucks monthly (after one year you have paid 1200 bucks after four years that would be 4800 bucks and after 10 you would have bought a house) I don't get it why you don't suggest Final Cut Pro, or sony vegas (for windows) when for less than 300 bucks you can get Final Cut for life.... no monthly costs....

    • @aaron-bieber
      @aaron-bieber Před 5 lety +1

      For photography only, that's just false. The Creative Cloud Photography plan is $10/mo., which includes Lightroom (both versions, the new web one and "Classic") and Photoshop.
      Premiere Pro single license is $20/mo., so that's $30/mo. for the apps mentioned in this video.
      For ALL Creative Cloud apps for individual use, the subscription is $53/mo.

  • @terpion
    @terpion Před 6 lety +2

    You do not need UHS-II for video. At 100 Mbits per second your write to card speed with overhead is ~10MB/s. Most good quality UHS-I cards can handle that with ease and not even break a sweat. Where UHS-II shines is when shooting high speed uncompressed RAW and A7 iii can shoot at the rate of 10 per second with each file being about 50MB, so you are filling your buffer at the speed of 500MB/s.

    • @robb.sutton
      @robb.sutton  Před 6 lety

      The UHS-I chokes on 120fps and 100 bit 4K. Everything else...it is rock solid. SD cards are rating on max write much like audio amplifiers are rating at RMS and Max. I have tested it and the UHS-I throws an error in those situations.

    • @terpion
      @terpion Před 6 lety +1

      @robb.sutton  Před 6 lety

      Might be. Flash memory isn't the most reliable thing in the world. • @SONYAdicto
      @SONYAdicto Před 6 lety +1

      Artur Predi I agree. The A7S II only has one UHS-I SD card slot... and it also has 4K and 1080p120...

    • @houseofintent
      @houseofintent Před 5 lety

      The UHS-I card that you're using is only rated a U1 which is why it isn't going to work for 4K and 120fps recording. It has to be a UHS-I with a rating of U3. This is the SD card I've been using on my a7III for all my video and photography :) www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Extreme-128GB-UHS-I-SDSDXXG-128G-GN4IN/dp/B01J5RH06K/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1533580352&sr=8-7&keywords=sd+card

      Yep, time lapse was the biggest problem for the a7rIII. It’s the only major hiccup that could cause the current Nikon 850D fans to steer away from the Sony altogether. Granted, a lot of Nikon fans will most likely jump to the new Mirrorless when its released, however, it could have been a great chance to get Nikon fans to jump ship, and Sony dropped the ball here. The fact that Nikon fans will be starting from scratch on lenses etc would have been Sony’s chance...

    • @justinbuice
      @justinbuice Před 5 lety

      Carter Lloyd I bought the time lapse app for my a6500 and it sucks. From what I can tell it can only record 1080p timelapses. And the app itself is clunky and takes a while to load. They could have done a better job intergrating it with the camera’s firmware rather than something you have to load seperatly. Not to mention you have to pay $10 to unlock such a simple function

      BREADCRUMBS reviews on amazon these days are basically useless. People leave 1 star reviews because they aren’t smart enough to use the product and blame the company when they break it.

      Andy Gee yes it is. You just can’t use it in the menus and stuff. It is still a touch screen which can be used for focusing and checking focus when looking through images.

    I would disagree on the charger and battery. I have yet to meet a professional photographer that uses aftermarket battery & charger for any DSLR or mirrorless.

    None of these were A7III specific. Two thumbs waaaaaaaaaaaay down. Good job on the bait and video quality though.

    A rocket is not an accessory FOR the A7iii...

      John Walsh It is used to CLEAN the a7iii SENSOR. Does that not fit within the definition of accessory?
