This story has several gaps just to mention a few;
1. Which document is this that he signed to transfer ownership to the first lady? Does he know that for ownership to be transferred other completion documents are needed?
2. How was he arrested for "promising someone marriage" while he was with another woman? No such offence exists in the Penal Code.
3. For him to be charged with Rape, it means that the charge was approved by ODPP, a different independent office from the police that investigates cases.
4. During his defence hearing, he chose to remain silent instead of defending himself by giving his side of the story, apparently because "alikua na uchungu". How now?
5. The courts/ Judiciary is a friendly space where they strive to ensure especially the accused understands his rights and go ahead to explain it to them in Swahili and even mother tongue if necessary....so how can he say he didn't understand what to say/do?
6. Lastly, for him to be convicted, the case must have been proved beyond a reasonable doubt.....

One thing that should be done in Kenya is to have transparent investigations that the public or interested parties can have access to. For example, the police should do their interrogations of suspects under camera recordings. That’s how they do it in the U.S. Then anyone can apply to have access to the recordings for educational purposes and cases studies. It helps in maturing legal processes and accountability.
The police are not interested with investigation,5000 ksh is enough for police to form a case that can punish one for 20yrs
