      My thoughts too. It doesn't matter how well done something is, if we don't know what you're doing or what kind of products or mediums you are using.
      My definition of a good video, is one that doesn't leave you with a heap of questions. Love your end product though.

    Some of the people here should seriously learn some manners. I read a lot of complaints and criticizing and way too few thank yous to a person who is filming and posting online a free video giving you ideas on how to make your own bookbindings. If you think they are not professional bookbinded enough for you then dont buy it! Go to a shop and buy a professionally made industry journal. These are handmade and that is the beauty of it. Nobody is forcing you to buy it. Nor to see the video. So please don't be rude. To the creator: Thank you for making this, and showing it and also for answering the questions about materials I saw nicely asked on some comments.

    I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of bookbinding and the point of parts of the books other than esthetic. Like the spine... You wanted the ribs that appear on old books. But those where made because the stitching from the pages were wrapped around cords and that was covered with leather to protect them giving you the ribbed look...
    Looks nice but I dislike the in-authenticity of the craft

    • @PichDextro
      @PichDextro Před 5 lety

      I totally agree. It sadly has nothing to do with making an actual old book.

    An instructive is useless if it doesn't tell you what you are doing, why you are doing it, what materials to use, where to get them.. and in this case, even does some things you can't see or that are behind the scene. I have no idea what those things are on the corners, what the colors are (paint? oils? pastes?), what any of the materials are, what the tools are, how and when to apply (are there wait times? drying times?), what kind of glue is used, and so on. Simply useless tutorial. But you have yourself a nice book, to be sure!

    not to bash or misunderstand what or why you're doing this, but having just watched a few actual bookbinders and their delicate craft and properness and it doesn't look too good in comparison, because its just a fun craft project, lol i kinda went in the wrong direction. looks fun though, if you're in the mood for it theres something cathartic about smashing and blobbing things together. maybe you could watch those pretty professional bookbinding videos, so you can better mimic the look?
