Such a fun trail. I can confirm that the UHT is just as bad, if not worse, than the Jack and Jill trail. Did it last August and it was turrible.
There is a 3rd trail that skirts even higher than Jack and Jill which is likely the best option. All Trails recommends that one. Probably adds another mile or two but stays even higher in elevation.

Awesome video! You had some amazing shots. I was on it two years ago. It definitely took me back. In Painter Basin, we had a deer that circled our tents all night.
The spot you camped below Anderson Pass is used a lot by outfitters and people packing in with horses.
I took the Unita Highline through the burn section. It was a nightmare, at one point I had to regroup, check the map. I was off trail by 1/4 of a mile. Other told me Jack and Jill was much easier.

Planning another trip to the Uintas this coming summer - did some of the Highline a couple years ago. Very much looking forward to going back!
One night while up Death Canyon in the Tetons I had my Zpacks tent set up with my hiking pole cork handle down. I woke to a porky about 24 inches from my face chewing on the handle. The rangers had warned us about them. Said they really liked the sweaty waste bands of backpacks. We heeded the warning and hung our packs but I never thought of the cork absorbing sweat. Only make that mistake once

I’m hiking this solo next year. Very excited! Thank you for a great video! Would you be willing to share your itinerary for this hike? I too am flying in. Are there any hostels near that offer shuttle services? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
I was lucky enough to have a friend in SLC who drove me to the East end. But I’ve heard there are shuttle options. I would say study the map or goggle earth and plan your route accordingly. It’s a relatively hard hike IMO. Having your own plan is key. Thanks for watching! Good luck🍻

I used AllTrails on my desktop to tailor my route. Just broke it up into 6 days. I recommend studying the map a little and tailoring a route that best fits you. Thanks for watching!

Man you got lucky with the spectacular weather. Some of the other Uinta's vids I've been checking had nasty storms nearly daily on some trips shown. Usually later afternoons it seems. So I'm wondering what week you did this trek? Hoping for some of the same decent conditions. That a Z-Pack pack btw? Shopping around for a ultra lite pack right now and kind a narrowing it down to a Durston 40/55 or a ULA Catalyst so far.
I went the last week of August. I anticipated some nasty storms but yes definitely got lucky. I used my Z packs arc haul. But just bought the Kawa 55 from Durston so I’ll be s swapping that out. For me the Z pack is great but it’s like a wet noodle when it’s empty. Best of luck to you and thanks for watching!🍻🍻

I used an ursack. I never sleep with my food. 🍻
@@BackcountryTreks ya I hear ya. People on the Colorado Trail will sleep with their food over a certain elevation. Freaks me out.
It’s all fun and games until a critter chews a hole in their expensive gear. Or worse case a bear comes sniffing around when you’re sleeping. 😬

How do you prep meals?
@@jl4608 I typically dehydrate my own meals and vacuum seal them. Then rehydrate with boiling water. I also bring lots of high calorie snacks.
