I didn't think visiting bands were allowed to ring at Merton - so I was told when I arranged an outing to Oxford in 2013.
dougdavis22 Technically, they still aren't. The band/organiser has to be vetted/trusted to ensure no one kills themselves.
You could not see me going up there to ring those bells as I am terrified of heights.
I think that and Pershore get my vote as the towers with the crappiest most unwelcoming ringing rooms.Oh yes of ourse Liverpool which reminds of some cold Victorian factory or workhouse.

Francesco Bellringer preshore is much scarier 70 ft of the ground
well at least at Pershore you aren't forced to look at a wide open chasm of death while doing the ringing!!
If I got practice with bell ringing I'd totally do this. Cause hey you'd get the best view of the service.
How high is that gallery?
There is a HUGE hole in the floor of the ringing room! I can fix that.
They have unusual head stocks
Is that Alan Reading on the treble bell
