Beornings are a solid Valour on the list. I played in 22 tournaments in 2022. Played the Beornings in 5 of them. Podium’d 4-5, the 5th was 1000 pts lost podium to AOL. Sweet spot for the bears is 600-750. Absolute blast to play but, limit how often you use it or you will have no friends 😂

And here we Go.
Dale is valour without a doubt.
The addition of the Knights bringing D6 in to the army is massive as well as their special rule.
The ability to make your opponent stress over charging and giving you the +1 to wound or to just keep getting shot by S3 bows is a top tier bit of psychological fuckery that I've seen opponents crumble under.
The best option is to always charge tho.
The new hero's are pretty lack luster and I much prefer to run Girion. Now should the new heroes make Dale suffer in fortitude tier? Absolutely not.
Running Dale means knowing how to play and win this game with base line troops and captain's. You'll have the same amount of success with just cpts as you will with the new heroes or Girion, if you know what you're doing.
The new hero's do need to be cheaper.
On the topic of defenders of Erebor.
Shits belongs in 'The hole'.
It's anti synergy. You want the knights of Dale out front for their +1 to wound when charged but you also want the Iron hills dwarves for their +1 Defence.
The warriors of Dale with bow don't get +3 shooting so you may aswell just run Dwarven cross bows. The hero rules are themey but man how good is deliberately trapping your heroes.
I have more to say but I still have to talk about the bears. this is a trash tier LL.
Now the Big one, THE BEARS.
An army I've been playing alot with. Their current win ratio is 30wins, 1 Draw, 5Losses and I've had 3 podiums with them, a 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd.
This army is Cooked, like it's beyond amazing.
Scales from 300-1000pts with ease, Tho 600 is the sweet spot. This army can and does deal with basically everything at all points Lvls. Big hitters like, elendil, king ellesar, boz and gilgald are no problem they will never be allowed to stand up, bear bowling(hurl) is OP and as soon as you lose a fight against a bear your dead. It'll take 2-3 turns to kill a bear, but the bears only need 1 to kill you.
It's very hard to stop the bears, barg is the bears best friend, the bears always get where they wanna go and basically always get their monstrous charge off.
D4 is super underated, most things still need 5s to wound you, and if your facing S4 well odds are your winning the fights anyway as the Beornings being F5 2A with a banner effect, they just don't lose and similar to the bears odds are you are always killing when you win a fight with the Beornings.
Your not playing this as a traditional army, for the most part the Beornings sit and hide whilst the bears do the work, but they always stay close enough to the bears to be able to run in and peel models off the bears fight. This is how you lure in enemy heroes to the bears, make it look like they can get the trap and spam troops then surprise with the sneaky woods men.
I could go on and on and on about the bears.

I'm with you on the Erebor Legion being probably the worst one here but I do think it's playable. Boring but not totally useless so that's why it's not in the bottom tier.
Lol, had a feeling we were gonna hear about it with the bears! I wonder if this is a case of bears being that good or is it Sean being a great player?? Not sure... But yes, we shall talk bears soon ;)

Purzam is really good too!
Imho Assault on Lothlorien is better than Host of the Dragon Emperor mainly because it's way more flexible, whereas the Host needs to play around a single huge model (with a huge base)
That’s the conclusion we came to as well. It’s a close one though!

For mine, in order.
Assault on LL. Legend. Obviously a bonkers list.
Host of the dragon Emperor. Legend. Also bonkers but IMO more counters exist and struggles in certain missions
Bears. Valor. An absolute house in some missions. Up s*** creek without a paddle in others. Also match ups are important. With shooting heavy lists being a big problem.
Fell beings. A cool, and occasionally strong LL. Bat swarms, with a nice chonky hero and the spider queen is the threat, and the woodland creature is nice! Being bonkers against elves, who are a real bogyman is also great.
Dale. The laziest LL ever? Probably. But at least it makes them stick.
Erebor and dale. Urgh. Losing the 3+ shoot to gain character banners, but dain actually becomes a worse banner. This LL is only good when you can afford to take 3+ of the heroes IMO, so at 800pts + it's quite decent, but under that and it can stay at home. I'd just rather ally them under 800.

That's the goal! Although there are some smaller supplements with only a few Legendary Legions. Maybe we'll combine the smaller ones...

I have to imagine they nerf the Dragon Emperor once they feel they've sold enough of him. I do dislike how his legendary legion cuts out Amdur who, for decades, was the only named Easterling-specific hero (Khamul is also present in Mordor lists, of course).

Bears are the most outlandish and overpowered thing I've seen in the game. I fully expected some kind of nerf to them in the last FAQ and was surprised when there was none. I'd much rather play against Lothlorian or the Host, not just because it's a more diverse game with them, but because I'm confident I'd stand a much better chance of winning.
Are you from Aus by any chance? Seems like that's where the Bears are dominating haha. I think AoL and Host have a lot fewer scenarios they are worried about whereas Bears have a hard time with a lot more.

@@intothewestpodcast No I'm in the States. We have an active league with excellent players in our mid-Atlantic area. One of them brought the Beornings to our 800pt winter league and it dominated some tough lists and tough opponents: Lothlorian, Iron Hills, etc. I played against it once with an Isengard list. Was nearly tabled and only did 5 wounds to the army in total!
Interesting, I do try to follow the American scene but there are quite a few regions! I will definitely keep an eye out to see if Bears become even more prominent. Thanks for sharing!

The Bears are one of the best lists in the game right now, here in australia especially.
Dragon emporer is strong and popular, but has plenty of counters.
we barely see AoL. it's strong, sure, but it fades really quick and most people would rather play using big heroes, rather than a horde of squish.
Denizens is on the right track to being handy, but is way too Niche. The leaders 'F6 v elves' should have just been a rule for him in his profile.
the dale/erebor legion is a let down.
the dale legion is bad, and a waste of paper. girion dale is still much much better.
