  • Nikko Pass is issued by the Tobu Railway which controls much of public transportation in and around the Nikko world heritage and nature reserve area. The pass covers transportation from Asakusa station in Tokyo to Nikko Tobu station, and then all local trains and buses in the Nikko area. In addition, a longer 4-day pass extends coverage to the Chuzenji lake area. There are so much to see and do in Nikko. The pass will make it all much less stressful, saving you time and money to do other things you enjoy.

    Hello and congratulations for this usefull video. Could you pls help us? Did you try going to Nikko with JR line? Thanks in advance

    • @travistravels8818
      @travistravels8818  Před 9 dny

      Hi there. I personally have not taken JR Line to Nikko however it can be easily done. There are two stations in Nikko, one run by Tobu and another run by JR. There are many routes possible. One route is to start in Tokyo station, transfer at Utsunomiya station, and arrive in Nikko JR station. You can find alternative routes on Jorudan website and filter to JR Pass. Good luck!

    This was super helpful! Do you think it is possible to explore the shrine area and lake Chuzenji area in just one day(leaving and arriving at Asakusa in the same day), at least partially? Because I wanted to do both (with the 4-day pass), but I'm not sure if I will have time.

    • @travistravels8818
      @travistravels8818  Před 5 měsíci +1

      It is possible, but it will feel super rushed. Take the first train out of Asakusa. Have fun!

    Thanks for your most informative video… my question would be what if we did not want the boat ride or gondola ride would the Nikko pass save me money on the Revaty train ?

    • @travistravels8818
      @travistravels8818  Před měsícem

      Hi there! Revaty roundtrip bought separately costs about 6700yen. 2-day nikko world heritage pass plus discounted revaty upgrade costs about 6000yen. 4-day nikko all area pass plus discounted revaty upgrade costs about 8500yen. So to answer your question, pass saves you money on revaty only if you go for 2-days. Hope that helps

    Great practical video Travis. If I purchase the Pass on Klook, is the pass activated from the App? As we are travelling from Kanazawa to Nikko, we are not travelling through Asakusa, so I understand I will have to pay for a different train fare from Tokyo to Nikko. However, can we still activate the pass when we arrive in Nikko? Thanks for your help. Enjoying all your videos.

    • @travistravels8818
      @travistravels8818  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Correct. Activate the eticket in the Klook app just before you board your first bus in Nikko. Show the eticket (which has a count down timer) to the bus driver or train conductor and you are all set. Happy travels!

      Question - Two of us are leaving Nikko for Kanazawa how do we avoid Tokyo and take the Shinkansen direct.

  • @carollynntran
    @carollynntran Před měsícem

    Hello! Thank you for the informative video. If I travel to Nikko for a day, do you think the 4 day pass is worth it? Or are we able to just pay individually for the buses we want to take there with cash. I will be going the kegon falls and lake chuzenji direction.

    • @travistravels8818
      @travistravels8818  Před měsícem

      From a pure economic and convenience standpoint, it’s worth it bc the 4-day pass is cheaper than buying all tickets individually. However, covering that much ground in one day will be incredibly rushed and tiring. You will spend more time in trains/buses than actually sightseeing

    • @travistravels8818
      @travistravels8818  Před měsícem

      Hi there! Yes you can buy the pass in advance either at the Asakusa station Tobu ticketing office or online. I bought it 2 weeks in advance on Klook. Have fun!

    There's a huge problem with this pass. You must pay the express ticket unless you want to miss the whole day because there are no slow trains until very late (leaving Asakusa at midday).

    • @travistravels8818
      @travistravels8818  Před 18 dny

      Agreed. It takes too long and several transfers to get to Nikko without the Revaty upgrade

  • @PioWx
    @PioWx Před 4 měsíci

    Question: the pass cover the train but what kind of train from asakusa ? Because the express is not included so which one is ?

    • @travistravels8818
      @travistravels8818  Před 4 měsíci

      Good question. Nikko Pass covers local and express trains that run on the Tobu-Nikko line between Asakusa and Tobu Nikko station. The upgrade is for the “limited express” train that runs on the same line, aka Revaty train

    • @traceyseto5183
      @traceyseto5183 Před měsícem

      If I get the 4 day nikko pass (even tho i just do a day trip) and the upgrade to the Revaty train I can travel from Asakusa to Nikko directly without transferring and back again the same day and it includes the local busses and the ferry around the lake ch.. area ? Sounds like a plan!

    Is the train seat reserved in the nikko 4 day pass?

    • @travistravels8818
      @travistravels8818  Před 5 měsíci

      Hi there! The 4 day pass by itself only permits you to use nonreserved trains. However if you upgrade the pass, you’ll be able to take the reserved Revaty Kegon express train from Tokyo Asakusa to Nikko. All trains within Nikko area are local trains and therefore are all nonreserved
