So many people are ignorant to the fact that there are black Mexicans too, the fact that his god parents said he looked Puerto Rican is funny because so many people think only Puerto Ricans, Cubans, and Dominicans can be black but there are millions of Afro-Mexicans in Mexico it's not just Carribean Latinos that can be black. Veracruz, Acapulco, Oaxaca all got black communities. And that goes for most Latin Countries, there are black communities in all of Latin America
Yes Mexico has some places like Veracruz that have dark skinned Mexicans because of the slaves brought to Mexico long ago mixed later with the Mexican people that's the only reason there are dark skinned Mexicans in several places in Mexico. Rico is half black, half Mexican not Black Mexican there is no such thing . darker skin Mexicans are usually addressed as Morenos. Which is dark skinned.
@Daniel Tirado false, there are black Mexicans the same way there are black Colombians and black Dominicans. Mexican is not a race, it's a cultural heritage and many different races can be Mexican including Black people, Europeans, Native Americans, Arabs, and Asians. Being black has nothing to do with having dark skin, it has to do with having West African ancestry, you don't have to have dark skin to be black. There are many black Latino people with light skin, and there are many Latino people who are NOT black but still have very dark skin from their Indigenous ancestry. Rico is half African American and half Mexican, that still makes him Afro-Mexican regardless. Moreno refers to anyone with brown skin, not just black people; *Negrito* refers to black people, both terms can refer to a black person but Negrito is more about race, whereas Moreno just means you have brown skin and it has nothing to do with being black
