- Here it is! My final video from Anthrocon 2014, my annual mash-up of all the great fursuiting moments I was able to capture at the amazing con this year. Hope you enjoy some fantastic memories and I can't wait to see everyone back next year for more furry fun!

Watching this made me smile like an idiot. It's so sweet to see so many people being so happy and nice to each other. But it also makes me sad that people so sweet and kind get so much hate just because they wear an animal costume.
From being a furry, I totally agree. Not all wear suits and they still get hate. It is so sad but its amazing that people don't care!

this is so, so cute. It makes me sad that furries get that much hate. It just seems they're having so much fun, all of then qith their unique costumes, being nice to each other and hugging everyone. I believe people need to meet the furry community deeply. It's beautiful

I love it how the ferries in the furry community all care for each other. They hug each other and play around. I love their furry fights when it turns out as a hug in the end. I've always wished to go to this con but my family thinks their dumb and weird. They should understand the love everyone has. Including the furries. People try protecting their kids from those cons but look on the smiles on everyone's faces. I can't believe these haters. I love all you furries, and furry lovers!~ ♥
Sadly to say, that's so much easier, for many people, to hate things which they don't understand. To look closely to them and afterwards to change their minds is hard work. Many people don't want to learn about new things. They will never see how much joy furries bring in our lifes. If they would watch closely, they would see and feel all the happiness and the big smiles. And not to forget all the good charity things they do.
My ex boyfriend is a furry (not really ex, we drifted apart and eventually he maybe forgot about it and started dating another guy IDK)

Yes, this is who I want to be. The furry playing with the little boy absolutely killed me. This fandom and this community brings me absolute joy. I want to be a part of it.

Inquisitor Christopher Of course there is, but for the most part it’s pretty easy. Examples, If you are a minor don’t go to adult cons. Don’t online date or anything like that, and be careful of pedos and zoophiles. But that really should be it for the most part!

John Brown Interesting. "Coopertom" would have had to design the (headpiece? Mask?) himself, and it wouldn't have been easy to get the distinctive look just right. I've never seen a furry that could be called a "portrait" of an actual critter rather than a 'toon.

if you don't mind me asking how much is it to stay there the whole week?
tiger paw claw It depends which hotel you stay at, if you are at the Westin (main hotel), their con rate is about $180 a night so for a whole week it will be over $1,000, if you stay just the 4 days of the convention (Thursday-Sunday) it's about $720. Other hotels will be slightly cheaper ($130-$150 a night) but you will have to walk a ways.

But when you go to the con it's only $50 for the whole 4 nights

I want to tell my parents about my interest in furies so I can attend cons, but they don't really seem like furry people. I know that they just want to protect me, but I am drawing a blank here. Any ideas?
Sure, allow me to spill some ideas! So, first off, I can understand if your parents arent used to furries. While you are fully developed in this community and know all of the pros and cons (Hah, get it? Cons!) your parents, however, are complete strangers to it and unfortunately, the bad side of the fandom tends to come to light first. But, Im sure if you take your time with them and slowly introduce them to the fandom, theyll learn to accept it. Yknow, teach them about the communitys attitude. People of all races, religions, shapes and sizes, they are all contributing to a wonderfully accepting community. Most importantly, your parents will need to understand every single fandom has a bad side. You need to adress that bad side with them first, and make it clear that the fandom is not like that, and neither are you. You are in a family friendly fandom. "Yiffers" as they are referred to are commonly shunned. Most likely, if you approach them correctly, theyll understand. Also, even if they disaprove of furries, *they will love.you.regardless.*

Although there is no one definition of what a furry is or does, the most common definition is this. *Furries are artists who take a HEALTHY APPROPRIATE interest in anthropomorphic animals and objects in general. Furries usually create what they call FURSONAS AS ARTISTIC EXPRESSIONS OF THEIR PERSONALITY AND WHAT THEY PERCIEVE FROM THEMSELVES*.
Well its a hobby, not an identity. You dont need to "come out" as a furry. Being furry isnt the same as being lgbt, if they ask just say its a hobby. If you make them sit down about it they're going to think its something extreme

I love how when people are fursuiting that they act so free and like someone completely different, not caring about judgement and just doing what they want to. I also love how little kids love all of the fursuiters. I love nothing more than seeing little kids happy. :)

I have never brought up furries anywhere near my family so I don’t know what their thoughts on it
My friend however has spoken about it a couple times and she’s chill with it. She doesn’t get involved but she doesn’t hate it.

***** I told them I was a furry. They don't think it's harmful but they think I'm weird. They say the same thing about me being a pegasister and an otaku, so I'm used to it. My sympathies to you, and good luck with the whole furry thing with your parents.
***** No problem. There's a bunch of resources to help you explain it to them, though I'd imagine the hard part would be getting them to listen. Even if they don't come around, your decisions are just that: yours.

When I heard about Furry's and conventions, I was curious and did more research.. when I figured out what it was about, and what it's like I thought it was really cool and interesting! Now I'm planning on finding my Fursona and possibly going to conventions in the future! I'm a very shy, 11 year old girl but this seemed like it fits my art intrest, and a way for me to open up to the world.
Watching this while waiting for the paint to dry on my first fursuit's eyes. I'm a duck!
