- Over the next few weeks many of us will be jetting off for some sunshine all over Europe, which has been seeing record temperatures this summer. But neonatal nurse Charlotte Oliver has a stark warning for those of us who are planning on sun worshipping on the beach, after she got third degree sunburn in Tenerife just three weeks ago. Charlotte ended up in A&E where she was told it was the worst case of sunburn the doctors had ever seen, resulting in her needing time off work. Dr Sara joins us alongside Charlotte today to remind us why protecting our skin in the sun is so important.

I lost a friend to skin cancer, she was only 44. As the saying goes “There’s no such thing as common sense”. This is a good message even if it’s only a reminder for many.
When its cloudy its hard to realize that the sun continues to burn. The worse burn I got was a very cloudy day and my skin never felt hot. I now know to always protect.
I had blisters from constant snorkelling in kos but I just put a t-shirt on from there on in, scarred for a few years but now you will ever know. Never went for treatment, yes it was painful but I was young and you only saw your gp if you were practically dying in those days.
So didn't re apply her lotion, then didn't treat her sunburn and also continued to sit in the sun........People told her it looks bad. Why is she on tv.
To educate people to still be vigilant with their sunscreen even on cloudy days. You clearly weren’t listening.
Oh no I get that. But she should have been a bit more sensible herself. Common sense
These two are my favourite presenters!
Thanks for telling us about your bad experience, it will be very educational to others . Hopefully you stay healthy x
Oh please 🤦🏼♀️ if you don’t have the cop on to protect yourself from the sun properly, then that’s on you!!
Yes absolutely.
Cheap package holiday to Tenerife. Brits need to go a bit further afield and leave Spain alone.
I don’t believe she is a nurse, care assistant maybe
Cyprus has over 42 temp. !!!!!
Temp doesn’t affect sunburn what so ever
omg i wish she'd talk English correctly. surely people know to put proper suncream on frequently, they're not in the uk ,
What the heck does that tattoo mean?!
This is common knowledge
Oh ffs .. u go in the sun... u get burnt. Wow who knew? Then to go in the sun again the next day 💆🏼♀️
Sunburns make me want to stay out of sun
Her fault for not listening. ????
A nurse ?!! Lol
Why not put sunscreen. Is she going to sue the sun.
Lol
lol
Poor education
Alison and the doctor no need to worry, so stop pretending lol lol. You can stay in the hot sun as long as you like the sun ADORES you both and you know it!. Your beautiful Melanin is wonderful the earth loves you and it is getting hotter and was made for you.
Ok
You can still get skin cancer lol, doesn't matter what skin tone, you should always wear it
Yes. Melanin is only partially protective.
