Hey all, just wanted to provide a quick update on the survival game course. We want to ensure that we can focus on the quality and frequency of the training material to ensure the best training value possible and to ensure that we can meet the demand of the community. With that being said, we're putting the survival game course on a temporary hold until we can deliver the first person shooter course in it's entirety so we can focus all of our efforts on the survival game course to do it the justice it deserves. We're planning to get the FPS course complete with high quality training as soon as possible and we'll keep you all up to date on the survival course.
As a content creator for UE tutorials myself … I can say it’s hard to not have some cross overs and similar tutorials … there is only so much to cover. What you hopefully find is an instructor that covers something you are interested in. Virtus Learning Hub has always been a great source for easy to digest tutorials. There are many other great resources too and it’s best to view as many as you can. I learn something new from almost every tutorial I watch.

Ideas I'd like to see: 1. Creating blueprints for items to build with assets, like a wood fence blueprint you can place in game, then pick up logs you cut down from a tree, and place them in the blueprint to complete it. 2. Fishing, getting a fishing rod and fishing line and hook to cast into water, have fish nibble but not always bite the first time it comes close, catch a fish, reel it in with a chance for the fish to escape.
What if i just want my pickaxe floating like in minecraft with no visible arms. Ive made my idle animation in blender for my own modeled picaxe how do i add that to the screen?
i have tried this totorial but my camera is way further into the arms then yours so i cant see my arms is there a way to move the camera back ? when i try to move it my arms go with it do quite stuck fyi im using UE 5.1.1
I followed the steps to attach the pickaxe to a custom animation I made in Unreal, but it doesn't move with the arms, what might I be doing wrong? Edit: It's definitely the animation that will not allow the pickaxe to follow the hand positions, and I'm not sure what I need to do to allow the item to follow.
17:00 the camera is to close to my hands i can look at the ground see the pickaxe's shadow but unless i rotate it out ridiculously in front of my fingers i can't see the pickaxe.

I hate that you just say copy my settings, but dont explain why that is important. It will never teach someone to do something on their own, they will just do what you do and they will be stuck in tutorial hell. If the paid lessons are like rhis, its not worth any money. This is definitely free tier content.
Does anyone have issues with the PickAxeRunLoop? Mine looks a bit funky on some frames (the arm position is reversed) I've unticked "Import Mesh", set the Skeleton to "SK_Mannequin_Arms_Skeleton" and ticked "Force Front XAxis" ps: the 3 other animations work fine thanks
In Fine-tuning the attachment section, when I was about to change the parent socket, a "cannot change socket on inherited components" message popped up. This is literally my first day learning Unreal Engine 5 and I've tried searching for a solution but to no avail. Do you guys have any suggestions?
I'm new to this. In the start of the video the arms are in the pickaxe carry position. Using ue 5.1.1 the game starts without showing the arms. Following the steps the arms and pickaxe are not displayed. Am I missing something? However it does work with 5.0.3.
@@VirtusEdu I would heavily recommend towards the end of this series or even a split series using these tutorials and progress on how to run basic multiplayer nodes or explanation or anything to assist us with that. Even if it is just peer to peer and not server hosted related.
is anyone else having issues importing all of the assets I do what he does but it wont let me import the pickaxe into ue5 if anyone could help that would be great.
i really dont understand why it has a first, and third person template. why not just the third person with a switchable camera view for all the templates could it really be that difficult?
i have to say this is top notch had me and my misses in fits of laughter as i messed things right up.....i cant see a pickaxe but i can see its shadow......im not a noob honest
Long time watcher here. Virtus, I love your videos, but please, for the love of GOD, finish this series by ending with a fully completed game. I have like, half a dozen projects that are sitting incomplete from when you just decided to stop making videos for them. I know content creation is difficult, but following you for 40, 50, 60+ videos only to have it end with no resolution is so frustrating. My survival horror game, my 2D sidescroller game...are very sad face in their half finished state. At the very least, please have the project in the final video mirror the project in the series' thumbnail. You're a great tutorialist and inspirationalist, but completion isn't your strong suit. However, I believe that together, we can overcome this deficiency and work towards an amazing completed project! Who's with me!?

@@VirtusEdu Unfortunately, the full course on your website is nowhere near enough to make a complete survival game. This is a very early partial course as apposed to the advertised full course. Additions should not only be added based off of user feedback.
All of the Unreal Engine 5 courses that we've started have been finished. If you're talking about the RPG/FPS courses in Unreal Engine 4, both of those courses have over 50 videos and is considered finished.
Appreciate the reply and love the content, but your survival horror and 2D sidescroller series were totally left unfinished. It's your channel and you can complete what you want, so no judgement here, but you can't say they were finished lol. Honestly, I'll watch pretty much any series you produce regardless, but it would be nice to have a fully completed project at the end, or at least a final video summarizing what we've done and announcing that the series is over. If my memory is correct, both of those series' last video ended with "in the next video, we'll ......" but the next video never came.
Looks like an unfortunate coincidence! Virtus has a bunch of videos already made/up on the site (not just on CZcams) for this survival series. Curious if there was a chance at a potential collab 💔
UPD: the issue is fixed now. see the comments below Telling people you can download assets without actually telling them that you have to buy a course in order to download them is just dumb and disrespectful towards your subscribers.
It should be mentioned that we will be receiving an incomplete tutorial for free and we'll have to pay for the course later, so people can decide at the beginning whether they want to invest valuable time.
I'd happily pay for a complete series, but as far as I'm aware he doesn't offer complete series, not even behind a pay wall. His survival horror series, his 2D sidescroller series, they just ended mid completion. I'd have happily paid for the remaining episodes if they were available but I never even saw that option. Where do you see the option to purchase the remainder of those series?

Hide the hands by disabling the visible option inside the skeletal mesh details, im not sure but this might work (:
also look for weapon sway tutorials, its a great thing to implement, it adds some cool sways to the weapons.

If you have cant see the pickaxe in the camera view, you should comeback to BP first person and sellect first person mesh and move arms.

You don’t need to buy it I don’t think. I believe you just need to enrol to get the assets since that’s where they’re hosted
