In this particular case you don't put the sword to the grinding wheel but you take a grinding wheel to the sword.
At least it looks better than some of the clunkers I have! Why do I have clunkers in my collection at all? Some were bad purchases I haven't gotten rid of and others were donations 😂 you know the usual reasons.

IDK if anyone remembers when SwordForum Magazine did a deep dive on the problems that would arise with a titanium sword in that TI strength to weight is improved, but strength to volume or whatever is much less good .
They did a diagram of what a titanium sword might have to look like to have the size and blade profile necessary to match a decent steel sword and it was this giant 2x4 looking sword.
And I just have to respect Josh being like "2x4 sword is great but actually I want it in steel anyways" ;)

This sword is awesome. I was thinking of Buliwyf's Runding which is probably based on Beowulf's Hrunting (though I don't remember it being oversized). I've been eying a few of the copies of Runding that are around on the production market (Fable Blades is a bit more than I'd like to spend right now).
Happy fools day. I swung that thing at some tatami a few months ago, it will not cut, but it bashes crap pretty well.

How much weight could you shave off with aggressive distal taper?
Several pounds I imagine. I don't think it would get it into usable range though.
As dumb as this thing is as a sword, I do like how it looks in general and if this was in a video game I would consider it quite tasteful and good looking weapon that I could believe to be a real sword. Compared to monstrosities you usually see in games.
Agreed. Like I said, there was a lot of intention behind Josh's design here. He knew exactly what he was doing - how to make a sword that's incredibly ridiculous, but looks just right enough to be appropriate in a game.
