As a BattleTech player: Yes, all war games should be alternating activations and simultaneous shooting phase.
Clearly … I’m still amazed to see that 40K still run like that. Alternating activations can really boost the game.
MESBG is similar to battletech as those 2 game systems are ones that I have shown my wife and she took to Middle earth rather quickly coming from Alpha Strike.
Glad this is HH era, means armies will be inherently balanced, not loads of balance updates which never achieve true balance, not tooons of different army rules going on, codex stuff to keek up with etc. becomes a freaking full time hobby trying to keep up with all of that!

I already have models from Aeronautica and Titanicus (oh so many models), so getting a big Legions army is very easy now.

Helps that for 2k games you can bring a Warlord Titan worth 600 points and in a 3k game a Warlord then another 300 points in knights/allies. Going full or majority infantry drives up cost quite a bit.
Hyped about Legions and seems like a lot of people at the LGS are too. Took a big chunk of my hobby yearly budget, but went a bit all out at the get go since I had a 15% off entire order coupon on top of 15% off GW from online store.
Thank goodness for 3D printing. Craft these exquisite masterpieces at a mere fraction of the GW cost. :]
Please still by like just one kit or two though to support the game. Without support it'll just die out again like old epic did

Been waiting so long for this. I know the infantry holding weapons at certain dynamic poses have slight issues of blending but i hope with likely other armour variant sets they could fix said issues.
Besides that im lookign forward to getting my ordered goodies in aboit 10 days.

Whoa. Already fully painted. This looks a lot of fun but I wish it was in 40k so that we could have all the exotic aliens.
From a financial perspective it makes more sense to launch as 30k. Only if it succeeds would it make sense to expand into the many alien factions. That said, Skitarii would be cool for this game and AT.
I dunno if joe was one of the OG previewers, but the models actually shipping back in august. It was the rules that got recalled, so some people have had these models for a good few months now.

You can run a legal sit if you run 2 Demi companies (your compulsory core detachments would just be a lot smaller and you’d have to use some of the specialized infantry as support) and then you would get access to the tanks legally

This has always been my perfered Warhammer battle format, huge armies and massive battles. Regular 40k is pretty nice but this game is brutal
Does ignore cover on the sentinel missiles allow you to ignore the hit penalty for shooting at the infantry in buildings?

Why is the battle mat larger then a 2K Warhammer board!? it was 48 on one side and I would assume more then 60 on the otherwise at that point.

I think they want people to play Adeptus Titanicus for the crunchier titan rules, hence the streamlining of that aspect. I am considering houseruling the titan catastrophic damage table from Adeptus Titanicus into this game, just to add a bit of fun when a god engine goes down.
Not sure where it is in the rules (Aus/NZ won't see them for some weeks) but I am certain there is a consolidation move following wiping your enemy out in close combat.

You guys weren't happy that you couldn't Garrison after winning a combat vs a Garrisoned Detachment but... You can. Page 74, last paragraph.

The green screen dice box is a cool idea.
The points will be easy. You have 2 warhounds together, warlord titan or 2 and a couple of reavers. This game needs to be played in an epic scale but there is scope for smaller games as well.
I think you painted them fine Joe, TBH! Also unsure, if you have, but have done a playthrough of Warhammer Quest: Cursed City(2021)?

If gw sell two armies in there nexts box it should be 40k orks vs tyranids
The starter box doesn’t include any aircraft units which is lame hopefully future expansions will include them
Tyranids werent around in 30k they showed up at 745 M41 some claim they may have been encountered as early as M36.

Im still bummed this is a 30k game and not a full 40k. Still glad they brought it back.
Maybe look for fan rules or just come up with your own to play 40k imperialis and for models try getting someone to 3D print or buy the old epic models
When I get the LI rule book I will look at converting epic armageddon 40k data sheets to the new game.
Probably did it as it’s easier to put out of the models and rules this way to start and as a way to judge how much funding will go into the game based on boxes moved. Plus there’s also 24+ factions in 40K. Always going to be some group of people complaining theirs is not in the game.

And you thought painting 40k models was difficult.
Just spray them one colour and then add silver on tracks and gun barrels etc they are so small they will look fine IMO.
They are easier to paint than you think, very fast!

There is a "but", its Joes oponent first game..., terrain is horribly in favor for marines, and the forces are not balanced. I do not yet have the rulebook, but looking at this from old Epic perspective, there were some heavy gymnastics in both forces assembly.
Solar Aux may seem limited on paper, but they get flamer units in their Tercios which can ignore cover. Plus they are CHEAP! Can't wait to see Artillery get some action...
Terrain was too sparse? As the more terrain there is to garrison the more it favours solar auxilia.

Joe, why not play the games with the rules you guys create and make it as fun and fast as possible. You guys seem to know what would make the best combination so make a Joe version of the game
If you guys ever played Epic Armageddon you might be a little less excited about alternating activation. Check out the phenomena known as "activation overlap". It is a major flaw in this game, to such an extent that I have no interest in ever playing.

Illegal forces in starter. Welcome to standard gw style. They are very rarely legal matched play forces. 40k 10th is mostly by virtue of 10th not having restrictions to speak of :)
And point values in box is exceptionally close to each other. Not like one has 1/3 more points.

Shame to see even Games Workshop cave to this awful trend. Not to mention it's switch to objectives based play.
Well OTOH...Look at 10th edition of 40k. Virtually no restriction. Just take what you have points for. End result is silly looking "armies" and bad balance :D It's trade off. Do you want to have quick and easy method to build balanced armies or do you rely on players to hash it out in advance.

Are you being serious? GW always had the restrictions in their games up until their latest release of 10th ed 40k this year. So they're actually breaking with the "trend" (can't really call it a trend if every friggin' game out there copied GWs games and instilled instructions for at least 20 years...).
