Nice starter 1911 or one to pick up later in your Gun Collecting life because you happen to have missed it early on. My Son and I both purchased one last week. Thanks for your video! Keep up the good work! :) Beretta Sr.
@@TheArmedScotsman no question about that but it is still a good value because the more expensive firearms have gone up as well. Are used to pay about $1000 for a colt 1911 now they’re sometimes 1100 and even 1200. You can find a rock island basic G.I. model for about $550 sometimes even as high as 60 days till the Springfield Armory mil spec is still a great buy.
along with several other 1911's I have the SA '1911 A1' that is like that but blue more than parkerized. It actually shoots really well.. but was a bit more than $500... another good deal is the RIA.. My favorite is my Colt A1
Just ordered one. The list price was below 500, but by the time S&H was added, it was over 500. Love the way the parkerized finish comes out the perfect shade of gray in the sunlight.
Just picked one up at Atwood’s it came with 1-Mag, Black zip up pouch with Springfield logo real nice. Wood checkered grips, Manual and box. For $499 super nice 1911 at that price.
It's the same gun except for the plastic case and extra mag and them crappy plastic mag holders and holster that nobody uses. The grips are plastic mimicking an old set and if I'm not mistaken the rollmarks are smaller on the defender series. I also believe the defender is a different finish slightly then the more expensive gun with the plastic case. Springfield states it not but I held the more expensive one and it's darker/shinier. Yes it does have a metal mainspring housing
@Kyle G yeah they are great, I was impressed. Those a2s are nice, new and old put together. Can't go wrong with a DW they are a limited run just like the cza1 they had for 700. They only made 1k of them and then came the a2. I missed out on the first one and now I regret it
I just found this exact pistol at the local gun shop. I believe about 440 give or take. With my next paycheck or 2, I'll be picking one up after I do more research just in case.
@Jimmy S absolutely amazing. For a $500 pistol top notch. As a new pistol owner/shooter I out-shot experienced guys with their Glocks. Tight. Awesome quality. Accurate. Reliable.
I just got mine, I had to take a grip off when you said they were not wood lol. Mine are defenantly wood it a great gun had to order a new slide stop for mine, it was defective but found one on eBay for 20 bucks. First 40 rounds without a problem.
I'm not going to say everything Matt Stamp says, but he has a very informative video called: "1911s and how to properly use them," that you should watch.
@@UpinsmokeSmokey I understand pal, I’m in love with my new mil-spec, I’ve been polishing it and taking care of it like it’s my firstborn 😂 even though I’m carrying it
I bought one of these recently like two weeks ago and I thought the grips were plastic. They weren't! Maybe yours is wood?? My 1911A1 came in Black. I prefer the grey like yours but found they only comein black now! Now in 2021 I paid pver $600 for mine!!!
@@TheArmedScotsman I agree. I have a 1911A1 that was my father's in WWII but I only shot a couple of mags through it years ago and it is now my Safe Queen! Made in 1942 and issued to my father. I even have all of his military papers and things that he used during the war. He was a pilot and flew the P 47 over Germany. Of course he is long gone now and I am 76 but still wanted to shoot one so I finally broke down and bought the Springfield. Only because I wanted the closet thing to my father's 1911A1. I have found an old trigger for it and have replaced the stainless barrel bushing with a black Wilson Combat unit and had my gunsmith fit it. Otherwise the pistol is as close to a real Colt as I can get this one. Love it. Loved your video too. Keep up the great work.
I gotta ask...Have you considered any other brand of 1911 (Colt, or Auto Ordnance)? I've been looking around for the past few months, and I've been going back, and forth on which simple mil-spec 1911 to go with...Some sites (Buds Guns, Brownells, Cheaper than Dirt) have good pricing on the Colt, and Auto Ordnance.
FMichael1970 Metro Arms American classic! Search the vids...tight barrel, slide, great trigger and price that is mind blowing considering outstanding quality!
Was yours completely oozing manufacturing oil when you first got it? Mine almost looked like someone had torn it down and over-oiled it. It was everywhere.
@@Everlongsafehaven Thanks. I wasn't really worried, but it's the heaviest factory oil i've ever seen on any gun. After some reading, it seems 1911's love to be covered in oil. I guess I can't complain, compared to how my Canik TP9 arrived (no visual oil I could see).
Springfield makes only Series 70, so good to go with that! HATE series 80 mechanism.. not so much for trigger pull, but reassembly after field stripping is SUCH a pain with series 80!
Dude don't order from who ever you used again, with all this craziness going on, just picked one up myself. More then 500, but I still only paid 550. Not saying it in a way to insult you, but they are ripping people off.
@@andog6092 Yeah, I hear you. Looks like the gun market has calmed down a little since last year! More ammo is available now. I’ll shop around more if a purchase another gun.

The grips are real wood
Agree just got mine they are indeed wood!
Great gun for the money! Fit and finish are really nice and accuracy is beyond what I expected. I shoot it better than all my other guns!
Good weapon, I’ve had one for 25 years, around 10 k rounds though it . It’s my go to piece.
Good luck getting it for under 500 in 2023. I just payed 650 for mine. Great gun ultimately.
Yeah, prices have gone up :(

Thanks for sharing, this is a fantastic deal for a quality 1911.
I picked it up today, went out to the desert. Shot 230gr FMJ and HST, no problems, at 55 yards. Love this thing. Great accuracy, not modding anything
Yeah, it's such a great buy!
shoots better than it looks and feels which is great.
I have one 1911a1 best handgun purchase and my Allen company size 3 colt peace maker holster fits my 1911a1 perfectly.
The 1911 was actually designed to also fit most peacemaker holsters if you didnt know already

Under 500 not anymore. MSRP 725. I got it on sale for 599 came with 3 mags.
This is the deal of the summer, I picked mine up for 499.
How do you like it? I was planning on ordering one on friday on grabagun for $499. Is the mainspring housing plastic or steel?

Your grips are wood, nice!!!
In both WW GI 1911s doesn’t come with wood grips ! And you don’t need to find a slide to replace ? Why ? Cuz SA has a lifetime Warranty 😎
Picked up one yesterday $480 total cost out the door. It's to good of a deal to pass up.
I just ordered one today
Are there various grip colors they are randomly including on these? Mine has dull grey-ish brown colored grips, while these, IMO, look much better.

Its 850 bucks here in Canada. Not the best deal but in terms of cheap 1911s here its probably the cheapest

2 more years until I can get my concealed carry permit
Get something besides a 1911. Get something that isn't so heavy. I carried a 1911 for yrs and yrs. And switching to something lighter is much nicer
Really interested
