- An easy tutorial on setting up Synology DS418 NAS Drive on your network. All Synology NAS Drive devices can be set up using the same or similar steps.
In this video, i have set up Synology DS418 which is a 4 bay drive, i have used four Seagate Ironwolf Hard Disk Drives which are very high quality drives for NAS Drive systems.
DS220, DS220j or any other similar device can be set up using the same procedure.

What if any one of the disks fails in future (RAID 5 configured)? Does the new HDD easily connect and sync the backed up data? Or I might loose something with the dead HDD?
RAID 5 requires a minimum of 3 disks connected and the performance of raid 5 is equivalent to RAID 0. If you lose 1 disk and replace with the new one, everything would be synced and your data would be ok.

It requires power to be turned on.

Hi.I need help.I have connected my lan cable from my router to NAS directly .Then I have connected another eathernet cable from my NAS to PC .But I am unable to access internet connection in my pc .
I guess router one cable connects to nas and the second router connection is given to the pc. Then after following the steps as per video..

Yes you can make it a storage/download server. You will need a static IP and a very good bandwidth.

Yes it is possible with just ethernet cable or wifi router without internet connection

मेरे पास एक netgear का NAS है, जिसमे 2 हार्ड डिस्क 4 , 4 tb की लगी है। और RAID 1 कॉन्फ़िगर है।
इसकी स्पेस बढ़ाने के लिए क्या मैं 4 tb की जगह 8 tb की हार्डडिस्क एक एक करके रिप्लेस करके साइज बढ़ा सकता हूँ। वो भी बिना डेटा लॉस के ?
Raid 1की जगह raid 6 करने के लिए 4 हार्डडिस्क लगाने के लिए क्या करना होगा।
मेरा nas 4 way वाला है और 8 tb की हार्ड डिस्क सपोर्ट करता है। netgear का RN214 मॉडल है।
Waise to agar apki hard disk dono 4, 4 tb ki lagi hui hai to agar RAID 1 configured hai to wo basically mirroring hota hai matlab dono drives me ek jaisa data copy hota hai, aise me agar aap ek hard disk 4tb ki jagah 8 tb ki laga denge to issue hoga, par software se aap ise fix kar sakte ho, jaise hi 8tb ki hard disk detect hogi software apne aap apko puchega ki karna kya hai.
Synology me ye cheez kaafi easy hai, netgear me bhi recent update ke baad aap aisa kar sakte ho. Is par ek video zaroor banaunga samay lagte hi.

Qnap for best hardware which most home user don't require
Synology for user friendly operating system which is best for home users
So if you want powerful hardware but poor operating system go with qnap
If you want best operating system but ok ok hardware go with Synology
