You talk of the Crusades as a mistake, or at least a negative mark on Christendom. On the contrary, were it not for the Crusades, Western Europe would have succumbed to invaders from the East and might not have survived. We had tolerated their attacks long enough and had to push back for the sake of Western Civilization.

War for the sake of peace has always been a controversial topic probably. For example the holocaust. Imagine if no one saved them. But at the same time it does seem Christ has asked his people to rather die (most extreme situation, obviously run away, talk it down, defend yourself non lethally/"peacefully") than physically, especially lethally, fight back. The phrase "love your enemies" is Jesus perspective on how to deal with them. Hence Jesus (partly due to wanting to fulfill prophecy or the belief that prophecy will/must happen) lets his enemies arrest him rather than lethally fight back. Paul in his many letters many times speaks of letting yourself get defrauded rather than retaliate in kind, of blessing someone when he is cursed, praying for someone in response to them persecuting him. He supposedly gets beat up, starved, hurt etc by people many times. It is HARD believe me. But if thats what he said we cant say it isnt. Your not loving your enemy if your plunging your sword into them, crippling them, killing them, etc. However this is NOTHING to say about the intent of those men who fought. They may have been fighting for what we would consider the most noblest of reasons (saving family, keeping horrible rulers from taking power, etc).

How true. ---- a complete derailment from what originally was intended.
And there was no thing as 'Jewish christianity' --- it was Nazarene/Messianic judaism.

this seems to perpetuate the evangelicals standard accounts of history and hop over the many controversial topics. another perspective: Paul never stopped persecuting the Christ Followers. He simply co-opt many of them, and some of the Jews. Read the New Testament and its apparent he's pushing his own agenda, not that of the Gospel, and he continues to denounce Christ Followers, as Paul proclaiming them to be false prophets. Read the Gospel, then read Paul's letters. Paul leaves the Gospel out, though giving it lip service, he never teaches it's doctrines. He leverages the body of Christ for his own political purposes.
    - - - - And apparently that may have included riots: In ACTS we read of the first Book Burning and Riots at the Temple or Artemis (Dianna) one of the ancient wonders of the world, less than 10 years later Rome was burned. The first Christians were Greeks and Hellenized Jews who wanted to visit the Temple in Jerusalem, and were persecuted because they wanted to be "included". They worshiped Christ as one of many Theos. Christ was the theos of Martyrdom-for-Justice, a man who became a superhero ("god") in the Greek Tradition. The first Hospitals were Greek Temples of Asclepius, who was born the mortal son of Apollo, later being resurrected to Mt. Olympus as the Immortal son of Apollo. The medical community still uses his symbol, the Rod of Asclepius, as a medical symbol, a snake crawling up the staff, providing wisdom (comparable to the serpent in the Garden of Eden). Later, the Greek man called Hypocratus learns his medical skills at one of these Temples of Asclepius (forerunner to a modern hospital) and introduces the Original Hypocratic Oath. The early editions start: "I swear by Apollo Physician, by Asclepius, by Hygieia, by Panacea, and by all the gods and goddesses, making them my witnesses, that I will carry out, according to my ability and judgment, this oath and this indenture... ".
    - - - - Modern Christianity is largely organized as a human-husbandry tool, to shame folks who don't reproduce into reproducing to increase birthrates, for the authorities' economy to exploit later. After World War Two, modern Bibles remove "Fornication" whereas the King James Version rebukes it in 45 verses. The Latin Vulgate, representing 15 centuries of dogmatic tradition, rebukes fornication, with the Latin stem word "fornicat" in many more verses than the King James Version. The following Bibles now totally censor all rebukes of "fornication": NIV, ESV, NLT, TEV, CSB and many others have Zero rebuke of "fornication". If you aren't sure if your modern Bible translation is one that censors the rebuke of fornication, you can use 1 CORINTHIANS 6.18 as a litmus test.
    - - -
    1 CORINTHIANS 6.18
18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. [KJV]
18 Fly fornication. Every sin that a man doth, is without the body; but he that committeth fornication, sinneth against his own body. [Doughy-Rheims Catholic Bible]
    - - - [modern versions] - - (post World War Two human-husbandry campaign)
18 Shun immorality. Every other sin which a man commits is outside the body; but the immoral man sins against his own body. [RSV-1946]
18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. [New King James Version]
    - - - So now, what does "immorality" mean? Answer: whatever the government says it means, and post world war two that means whoever is not making babies, for example "homosexuals"

How is it apparent Paul is pushing his own agenda? I only use 1611 KJV but I also go further and find the original tongue for each word. I've gone through my bible with a fine toothed comb and have only ever come to same conclusion. That the Bible is nothing but Holy inspired scripture and that The Word and Gospel we have today (KJV) has been preserved throughout time, BY God.. And he has made damn sure The important parts stayed intact. That includes the teachings of Paul and The Gospel Paul teaches. The KJV has some errors.. But only a few and they are easy to find and relatively minor.. So please do show me.. In the KJV Bible.. The verses that make it apparent Paul is pushing his own agenda?

@@mandirae9223 God's words certainly haven't stayed intact with ESV, NLT, NIV, TEV, CSB and other translations. They all censor the word "fornication" and "fornicator". In a few generations, KJV will be forgotten perhaps. When that happens, all God's words admonishing Fornication will be re-translated to "homosexuals" That's the general trend right now. It started in 1946 but will take a few more generations to cycle through to the antiChrists grand design of Totalitarian Control over our minds, and even our natural human emotions

The Jesus movement known as Nazarene sect of Judaism or Netzarim in Hebrew came to nothing in the 4th century as the book Nazarene Jewish Christianity confirms making him a false Messiah like the others Rabban Gamaliel mentioned in Acts chapter 5 34-39.

The gospels present Jesus as the promised Messiah, the Christ, the Son of God. The Jesus of the gospels lives and dies. He worships the God of Israel. He prays to the God of Israel. He calls his father 'God'. The resurrected Jesus has a God. (John 20 :17). The glorified Jesus in heaven itself is presented as having a God. (Rev 3 :12). He was not seen by his early followers as YHWH. He is constantly differentiated from YHWH .

Yes, it seems pretty clear. He wasnt the one God, he was the one God's highly exalted son, his suffering servant. Super exalted like Joseph was with Pharaoh, but not by becoming pharaoh himself.
