Being German, I was a foreign exchange student in Russell / Ashland in 2004/2005. Today I live in Shanghai with 25 Million people and all the attractions but here I am … homesick for Ashland, KY.
Did a 'show' in middle school at the Paramount theatre IIRC. It was about the flood of 1937 in Ashland and Catlettsburg. Can't wait to see the town again.
I lived in Ashland in the early 90s for about a year, we were up on a hill facing the river, I'll never forget waking up and watching hot embers and ash raining down over the neighborhoods below. I guess the steel mill popped off...That mill was disgusting, there would be a red stain in the river from the outflow from it. All very eye opening for a kid from NorCal....thank God my dad got transferred outta there.
That's why we need more sustainable energy and to turn the old coal mines and factory lands into jobs. I heard of a lavender farm at an old coal mine somewhere in KY.
Went to Ashland on a business trip about 8 months ago and let me say....there's nothing there 😂😂😂 most unusual Walmart ( tons and tons of canned goods). Just stay at the Delta and get drinks at the Winchester 😂😂😂. Everyone there was telling go see the bridge, it lights up at night. Im like 😂😂😂😂😂😂 That whole tri state area is trash...
Ashland's best days have come and gone. Ashland Oil, CSX Railroad, AK Steel all gone and nothing to replace them. We are still recovering from the Braidy Aluminum debacle. Check out the number of people that leave upon graduation. This place needs an enema starting with the replacement of our city government.
@@RealBradMiller not with any attitude. The paramount occasionally will have some decent shows come through but other than that there's really nothing to do. In highschool my friends and I went to Walmart to walk around because it was the only thing open past 9pm. Ashland had a decent bowling alley but they closed it down. So other than Walmart and the theatre there's nothing to do.

Been living here in Ashland since 2020. I’m new to the area. I feel as if Ashland is a hidden gem. It’s got everything I need…
😂😂😂😂 you need to get out more, and not in the mountains making moonshine 😂😂😂

As someone who lived in Ashland for the better part of 8 years trust me when I say there is nothing to do in Ashland spend your money elsewhere.
Not with that attitude, mister! Lol
