This is the only movie in which I hated SRK. Preity is right, he is wrong. And Rani is the bitch who adds fuel to the fire. Langda goes and sleeps with her. All of Rani's and SRK's tears failed to evoke any emotion in viewers, except in Karan Johar. Both SRK and Rani have loving spouses, yet, they're looking for something else. Talk about insecurity and jealousy when you've been deprived of that one thing that you're best at!, his character met with an accident and left him limping and he couldn't continue a career in football, he just didn't let his wife complete the sentence that was his mistake, don't go about ranting on men, cause I'm sure you would support a complaining woman who couldn't pursue a career in the same situation, and BTW this is just a film, and director has full freedom to show his perspective.

This is reality. Every man has this inside - its how they control it. Even if your husband lets you work and earn more - deep inside there is that feeling of emasculation. It is the successful woman's job to PUT EXTRA EFFORT in Home - which Preety was struggling to despite loving him. Men will always want to lead his woman - no matter how much she loves him back. Its in our DNA, our genes, the word is called vertigo.

Rishi made a great point at the beginning of this movie when he told Maya that she's always willing to break their marriage while Rishi's always trying to maintain/mend their marriage. Maya called him immature when he was the only one acting maturely in their marriage by expressing the importance of a marital bond and the effort required within it.
Dev was always an egoist, sarcastic, and jealous towards Rhea right from the beginning, before his leg accident.
He taunted Rhea over their income difference and level of success. He was always bitter, negative, and contributed nil to their marriage; hence, their marriage turned sour, and Dev failed as a hubby! He treated his poor child terribly, a failure as a father, too!
Maya always played the victim card selfishly without a thought for Rishi's feelings. She knew she never loved him yet still chose to marry her bestie and never tried to love her hubby with all heart. She was shown as a romantic by waiting and believing in a soul mate (i.e., sacha pyar) but she never understood that the ultimate romance is marriage - union of two people and that once you marry someone you do your damnest to make it work but if you don't then you're at fault not the other person. She failed as a wife!
If anyone was mistreated then it was Rhea & Rishi who deserved better spouses & had better reasons to betray their partner but they were loyal and believed marriage is sacred for life & respected their partners unlike Dev and Maya!
Nobody can sympathise with these 2 as they crossed all moral boundaries. If they were unhappy, they should've had the decency to end their marriage and then commit to one another but not commit adultery! A cowardly approach and then have the audacity to expect they will be forgiven post confession!

This scene really gives a hidden character trait of Dev. Him not getting any revival in his career was not because of a lack of talent or hard work, mainly because of his attitude to life. When he won a game and was offered a million dollars contract, he poked Reha with the jealous taunt but when he couldn't recover a bit in 3+ years, he did not humbled down but became more obviously bitter and humorless sarcastic. He was sarcastic earlier as well, but then he was at top of his game and was happy with the success.
But even the affair with Maya did not make him happier but just found someone who would take his shitty attitude and mood swings.
A person like SRK playing such character shows his acting chops.

He was very selfish and didn’t care about his wife’s feelings and pain. It was always about him.

I loved reading Karan’s perspective as a writer and as a filmmaker during the shooting process with the cast after viewing the film. Despite the constant fear production houses maintain of taboo content in films and unconventional endings, Dharma pulled this film off with complete elegance and Karan’s brilliant direction and writing made this film a blockbuster in India and overseas. Many people criticize his films and underestimate his ability as a director, but films like Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna prove that KJO is still one of the finest directors we have today. They may be considered “ over the top” or “cheesy” by critics and audiences in places, but he really knows how to extract great performances from his cast, and Shahrukh and Preity prove it here like Ranbir did in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

    The marriage fails......
    The relationship fails........
And all that both sides are left with is broken pieces of heart reminding us of what once was........

Best part about this scene is that the most successful man of my Generation is acting as unsuccessful in life and Nailing it.

the fact is, When Maya and Dev saw Rishi and Rhea together exchanging flowers. they assumed that both are having an affair and cheating on them. this shows that they both are so insecure and don't trust their partners. when Maya and Dev were started meeting each other at coffee shops, Rishi and Rhea never doubt on them. If Rhea and Maya start meeting each other at coffee shop as friends. Maya and Dev will get jealous as fork

I loved Abhishek also very much in this movie. Rani s and srk s character should be hated. Their decision Should be discouraged.
