সীমান্ত দিয়ে অবৈধ অভিবাসনপ্রত্যাশীদের ঢল ঠেকাতে নতুন চুক্তি করলো যুক্তরাষ্ট্র ও কানাডা। অটোয়া সফরকালে মার্কিন প্রেসিডেন্ট জো বাইডেন এবং কানাডার প্রধানমন্ত্রী জাস্টিন ট্রুডোর মধ্যে এ সমঝোতা হয়। এবারের চুক্তিটি মূলত ২০০৪ সালে দুই দেশের মধ্যে সই হওয়া 'সেফ থার্ড কান্ট্রি এগ্রিমেন্ট' নামে একটি সংশোধনী। এতে এখন থেকে অবৈধ অভিবাসনপ্রত্যাশীদের নিজ দেশে ফিরিয়ে দিতে পারবেন সীমান্তের উভয় পাশের কর্মকর্তারা।
