If you're like me and you really listen to a song; you know, get all up close and personal with it and play it over and over again in your head when you're trying to fall asleep at night (haha); then you'll realize that all of his songs on the album "Ocean Eyes" make you think of the sea (especially Saltwater Room and Hello Seattle) and the songs on the album "All Things Bright and Beautiful" make you think of nature; especially "Plant Life." (duh)

For me, as an OWL CITY fan....... I think it is that way cuz when adam is recording and creating music even before the first album, he has insomnia. That's why instead of sleeping, he is creating music. If you know, Owls are nocturnal and they don't sleep at night which is also like Adam since he doesn't sleep at night. The City part.....I don't know but, I think he is just describing his environment and he lives in a cit..............LOL......
