No matter how old you are or where you are in life, I hope that this video can inspire you to go out and see more of the world, either by yourself or with people.

Danica
this is EXACTLY what I want to do next year
I’m happy I could give you some inspiration!! Stay safe on your travels and have SO MUCH fun! Document it and cherish the time you’ve got out there 😁❤️
Me too! I might meet you there 😎
Me too!! I’ve been wanting to go travelling since i was a little kid and now it feels so real because i can actually go next year🥺
So are you doing it ?
Something so magical about this video compared to any other travel vlogss
Thank you for your kind comment!
You have such a good voice for storytelling! As a girl who wants to travel solo so badly, but is a little bit too scared at the same time, this was truly comforting and inspiring!
Thank you Anita! I think joining the female solo travellers group's on facebook (link in description) would be the first thing I would do if you feel hesitant to go alone! I met a lovely girl the same age as me who was also visiting Thailand and we met up, which was one of the best memories I made on the trip.
The women in the facebook group can give you lots of advice and guidance as to planning and recommendations, I think this community we have built is such a safe and comforting space to gather inspiration and cheer each other on! You can do it! Thank you again for your sweet comment, I feel motivated to make more videos now... Have a great day. ☺
This was amazing like honestly thank you
Love the video and your kind words. I'll visit southeast Asia next month and will definitely take your advice
came here for SEA travel tips, stayed for the unexpected life advice gems you keep throwing in there 😊 ...at 18, no less. Great travel experience and you have the right outlook on how to do it too. Cheers!
Thanks for the video. Well put together' great narration.
I’m from the UK and backpacked solo in SEAsia at 19. I didn’t blog it quite so well 😬 but got so many pictures and memories. Video is great, I also recommend solo travel to anyone. Don’t be scared, 10minutes in and you’ll be hooked! Stuck reminiscing all of my travels now tho..get me back!! 🏝 ✈️
WOW! You're incredible :) I love hearing that you also chose to do the same, it is encouraging for other female travellers to know that this is VERY possible!! Thank you for your inspirational words
I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS 💖
Thank you for watching my video! I hope you are doing great. 💗
Such an inspiration; I'm so eager to get out there and see the world but terrified of doing it alone. This has really made me feel that I can do it :) xx
Incredible Danica!!! Simply incredible!!! No doubt you're continuing to smash the game of life 👍👍👍 x
And the same goes to you too, thank you for your kind words. I hope life is treating you well x
Great video, really well narrated. I can’t wait to travel again 🏝
I appreciate it, thank you so much!! And I hope you are able to travel to beautiful places soon.
Beautiful everything!!! 😍😍😍
this was so so heplful! I'm planning to solo travel south east asia for 3 months hopefully in jan 2021 so this was just what i needed!
I'm not sure if you have already embarked on your travels but if so, I hope you had an amazing time!!
I’m 32 but my daughter is finally grown and I’ve become successful w my career. It’s time !
Solo travel is amazing. Thanks for the video.
You're very welcome and if you are taking any trips soon, I hope you have a lovely time!
This looks like an absolute DREAM 🥰 you are so talented at editing xx
Thank you!!!! xx
You have the most soothing voice and are a talented narrator. I also like the unique approach you took for this video with the iphone screens etc. You should do more like this.
Thank you Kay! It means a lot to me. I hope I can improve my video style... I know that this video was a bit too fast paced but I am glad you enjoyed it :)
Oh loved this video! We were there at the same time before Corona hit and this brings back so many memories!
Aaand the boat to Laos was probably one of the best experiences, it is so peaceful and at night you stop in a village on the side of the river to sleep :D
Thanks!!☺️😁 I’m so glad you’re doing okay, it was such a scary situation at the time!! I managed to get back before the UK went into lockdown in March.
And maybe next time I’ll take your advice and go for that boat trip to Loas with a travel partner😂 The thought of it by myself was nerve wracking at the time haha.
But I can imagine how beautiful travelling on the river was😍it’s a historic river so you should be proud to say you’ve crossed between two countries trough it!!
Good Job Danica. Keep going what do you want to do. The life is to short. Enjoy your journey!
I’m so happy we met! Thanks, you too!!
I have to say I absolutely LOVED this video, this is so inspiring!
I went solo backpacking in Costa Rica at 19 and yes, I totally recommend that to anyone. This was the greatest experience I ever had and I learned so much about myself, met incredible people that became friends and now I know for sure that I’m not done with solo traveling. Thanks for sharing your sea travel, I am taking this video as an inspiration for my personal Costa Rica travel video haha
sounds so cool! how did you get around there? was it easy to navigate and find people? like good people actually
This is so calming and really made me want to travel again. Hoping to cross paths with you soon !
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to watch my video. ☺
LOVED this!!
Thank you Jade, ily!!
You're going to live an amazing life. I wish iI started at 18, 23 now but I love traveling so much. happy place.
That is so great to hear and I am super proud of you!! I think no matter what age you started, that was the time meant for you.
Good luck with all your future travelling plans! You have loads of time to make it happen. :)
I’m also 18 going to SE Asia. Going in Jan can’t wait
Wishing you all the best on your travels! I hope you enjoy your time out there, stay safe and make lots of memories :)
Brilliant. Well done to you. I did a world trip in 93 when there was no digital cameras or mobile phones, only memories and a few pics. Something you'll never forget.
To me there is just something more magical about keeping your best memories to yourself.
And regardless of having evidence to show for your trip, it is the memories and experiences that
are more precious. Just by your comment I can bet that you had a wonderful time! I also don't think a video just like this could ever come close to conveying everything that I experienced out there.
Anyways, I hope you get to re-visit the countries you love! And thank you for taking the time to watch my video! :)
oh my god
i'm so in love with this video,,
good job and support u from kuala lumpur
I miss you! Thank you for showing me around your city ❤️
Smart , adventurous and pretty brave to do this solo at your age , your parents must be proud the way you have turned out , good luck in life
At first they hated the idea of their only daughter travelling alone in a foreign country but when I came back they saw me differently. I still hope to make them feel more proud of me and your words are very heartfelt. I hope you live a great life:) thank you for watching!
Inspirational 💯
Thank you, that means a lot to me :)
Nice Video! Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see more content 😊

Dear girl, am blown away by your video and your braveness, maturity. Am impressed by your wisdom. Superb !!! Am still very young at heaty dispite the clock keeps ticking. Soon I turn 55, started travelling at age of 24 ... and it definately has changed me as a person in life. Keep growning and exploring 🙏💖. Like you I was/am a solo traveller too 😇
You seem like such a lovely person, you have made me smile so big! I also look up to you because travelling solo is such a challenge and it makes me so happy to hear that you're having fun. Thank you for the encouragement, I hope one day our paths cross but in the meantime, I wish you the best of luck for the future and stay healthy! 😄😇
Amazing video !!
Great video! I'm 29 and just planning my first solo travel all around SE Asia and have been feeling really nervous... this video made me feel a lot better about it, thankyou :)
Hey Hal! Thanks for watching and leaving a sweet comment. I believe that you can do it! No matter how much you prepare and research for a trip, it will always be way better than your expectations and S.E Asia blew my mind. It will bring you so much fun, adventure and joy. Everyone out there is in a similar position as you and if you surround yourself with travellers at the beginning of your journey it will make the transition of being in a new country a bit less daunting. If you need anymore advice I am reachable on IG:) Goodluck on your travels!
@@danicaangel Of course! This was really nice to read :) Thanks so much for the long reply and the encouragement!
Ahh I'm hoping to finally make it to South East Asia within the next year or so! I've been planning to go there pretty much every year for the past 5 years haha but things keep getting in the way! Maybe next year will finally be the one!! Looks like you had an amazing trip!!
I believe in you!! Hopefully everything falls into place:) Thank you for checking out my video.

so coollll, I have intention to have solo travel after watching your vid :)))
Thank you so much! I miss you and I hope you are doing well.
4K for 3 months ?! That’s amazing I thought it would be more
Yess! I travelled for 3 months and I mostly stayed in hostels which are so cheap in South East Asia for good quality! If you travel with friends you can also help each other out by sharing meals together. Also breakfast at hostels are usually included in the price... so that helps a lot!:) You can go on fun tours which are not too pricey and travelling everywhere is super easy too. I will do another video for more details about travelling
heyy super video hom many month did you travel
hi! :)) In january I'll also be backpacking the same route as you!! I was wondering, at what place in krabi did you stay??
Me and a few friends are planning on travelling after school! We haven’t exactly worked out where we are going but Asia is definitely on the list! Awesome video. How much did you save before starting travelling?
The only money you need are those for buying food and pay transport, because you can easily find a place where to sleep thanks to Couch surfing and workaway
For me I was able to travel for a solid 3 months with just under £4,000 saved up from my supermarket job. This includes extra money incase I needed help out there but it does not include my first flight from London to Singapore.
If you are going with a few friends it's worth comparing airbnb prices to hostels because it might work out cheaper or the same shared between you all. It really depends on how you want to spend your money, amenities, people your with etc. E.g. would your friends be okay spending their trip in hostels, if so... you'll save a lot of money if all you're looking for is a place to sleep and then you are out all day exploring.
And as Letizia Turrisi has commented below, if you are a solo traveller you can look into couch surfing which is free accomodation, but the risk is that you're living with a stranger who might have rules about certain things. You should read their profile thoroughly and make sure they are legit and it is safe. Workaway's also carry similar risks, they may be advertised as free accomodation to travellers but you will exchange that with hard labour. So research before you commit to anything is essentially what I advise. I hope this was somewhat useful :) I am also very sorry it took so long to reply! Goodluck with your travels.
Your experience made me emotional, in a good way. I am about to start my own pancake trail and my first stop is Bali, Aug 31st 2022. I feel excited and scared at the some time - what lays ahead?.... thank you for sharing your story ❤️ 🙏🏽 😊 ♥️
I am sorry for writing back to you so late. How is your travels going?! :D
I feel so happy that you felt more confident after watching this video because I really wanted to uplift other solo travellers to go out there and experience the world! Hope you are having the best time of your lifeee! You got this, keep going :)
I’m hoping to go backpacking in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and China next year 🌏
Same
That sounds like a really cool plan!! Stay safe and enjoy your travels!! Thank you for watching ❤
wow
This is a great vid!!! I’m planning to go SE Asia start of 2022 hopefully the worlds in a better place by then! This may be a stupid question but do you advise taking cash or card out and about with you? I imagine cash machines are everywhere but just asking :)
Cash. Trust me. Once u r drugged u r fucked
Hi! I apologise for my very late response. I hope I am not too late answering this question but here's my advice...
I definitely advise taking cash out because S.E.Asia has a lot of night markets where you can buy dinner from food stands that will nearly always rely on cash! Also some tours that you want to book with companies might ask for cash as well. So I took a good amount out that was not huge - incase your wallet was stolen. But enough that also meant you would not need to visit a cash machine daily which would cost so much money because of transactions fees.
Even though I had a starling bank card, the ATM's over there still charged a small fee of around £2-£3 so take that into consideration. But if you are visiting malls or restaurants in the city then I am sure they'll accept card, so make sure you have a travel card.
A hack that I found in Thailand is that:
If you go into a bank and withdraw your money inside and tell them how much you need out, instead of visiting an ATM then they will do that with no transaction fee.
I am visiting the country again in July 2022 so I will update if this still works. Anyways I hope this helped! Good luck with your future travels!
My dream!! how heavy backpack did you bring with you and whats something you wish you did and didn't bring with you?
Hey would you say 3 months is long enough to fully disconnect from life back at the uk and be able to see all the landmarks of SEA
did you already plan which hostels you were going to stay in or did you just decide when you were there?
Im planning on doing this next year. I have a question though, how much money would you need to travel for 4/5 months??
Around €1000-€1500 per month is perfectly enough for SE Asia!
I hope you can go backpacking to Indonesia for another chance, Danica
Thanks for watching! And that is my next dream destination! I have heard so many wonderful things about Indonesia... I would love to try the food and learn more about the culture. :)
Did you get a SIM card or anything? or just connect to local wifis etc
what kind of visas did you have? Because from my research i understood, that you have to show proof of a plane ticket home or to your next destination to get approved for the visa... Did you plan everything out beforehand or was it a spontaneous decision how long you would stay in one place?
Hi! I did a lot of extensive research beforehand on each country I planned to visit. I have a British passport so it helped to look on the gov website, for example you can search: 'Gov UK Thailand Entry Requirements' and it will tell you how many days your passport can allow you to stay in that country without paying for a visa. However, with a specific country like Laos I read that I needed to apply for a visa and pay for it. This can be done pre arrival or at the border if you were to cross it via car instead of plane.
On the other hand, showing proof of a plane ticket out of the country you want to enter is not always essential! It depends on the airline company you fly with... which is why it is can be tricky if you like spontaneous plans and you're unsure how long you want to stay for. I was only asked once by Vietnam airlines to show proof that I was leaving the country by the time my visa ran out. At the time I had not bought a ticket yet so what happened was they asked me to buy a ticket out of Vietnam at the airport, right before they could allow me to legally enter the country. This has happened to a few traveller's I've met on the road! So I would advise that you try to book a flight out to your next destination to avoid this hassle. It's funny because not all airlines would ask me for proof of a plane ticket out of the country, usually they'll ask how many days I plan to stay and where I'll be staying (give them a hostel address).
But now with covid and travel restrictions... this has probably changed slightly :( I have not tried to travel yet so I have a limited experience of what I can tell you that would help and that will apply to the present day. I think now with testing and quarantine, proof of a ticket home might come under new rules and regulations most airlines will check for now. Anyways I hope this was some what useful to you and I also hope your travels go well, stay safe!! ❤
Where exactly are these waterfalls in Chiang Mai?
Hey, I love ur video, it gives me so much inspiration for a trip of my own. I’m 18 and I wanna go for three months all around se Asia in September but I want to meet people online who shave the same idea so I’m not completely stranded when I get there. How did you meet people with the same idea online before ur trip? Thanks
Hi Ariel, thank you for taking the time to watch my video. Travelling solo is such a great idea and I completely understand how nerve-racking it feels to start and meet new people. I highly recommend joining Facebook Groups such as 'The Solo Female Traveler Network' and 'Host a Sister'. I will link them below this comment for you!
On here you can learn how females have travelled solo, their journey, food and places to recommend etc! It is such a lovely and supportive community where you are free to ask other ladies on their experiences and also write a post about where you plan to go and if anyone else will be there too. That is how I met my good friend Christina but we made sure to facetime and get to know each other before our trips.
And even if you can't find someone who can travel with you, I can assure you that in hostels you will meet so many more people who you can chat to and join on tours with etc. You're never really alone when travelling and I hope this helped. If you have any more questions please DM on Instagram, I'd be happy to help! Have fun planning your travels

How much money did you save up before starting your travels? ❤
im doing 8 countries 3 months
What websites did you use to plan this?
How much did this whole trip cost ?
Amazing........how did you manage to fund all this?
How much money did you spare? I'm also going in february with my girlfriend to thailand, vietnam, laos etc. We will live on low budget.
How much did it cost overall?
How did you find the girl from Romania? I'm also thinking about solo travelling in Myanmar this summer (after i finish my school) and I want to meet other people doing the same thing
On facebook you can join a group for solo travellers around the world. It's a great place to find people who are going to the same destination as you! :) Just make sure you video call them before you meet up so you know they are genuine. Good luck on your travels!
Could you please share the name of the company with which you booked most of your tours? Sorry in case I missed it 😋😊
Hi! Thank you for watching my video. In Krabi Town Thailand me and my friend booked the '7 Islands Tour' with Mariam Travel Company. We found them from leaflets that our hostel were advertising. I think wherever you decide to stay, its best to ask the front desk of their available tours because sometimes they have better/cheaper rates for guests :) and the tours are basically the same, it's just a different pick up location and people on the day. I hope this helps
Loved the Video ✌🏼
I am kind of introverted, do you think I can make Friends though while backpacking😅?
First of all thank you!! 💙
Secondly, of course it’s possible! At first you might feel uncomfortable or shy, but you’ll soon realise everyone is so friendly. I was 18 at the time so i completely understand how you feel. I was intimidated at the beginning but I shortly realised that it was ok! The simplest thing to do is smile, travellers will ask how you’re doing, where your from, what your plans are for the day and how long your staying. It becomes so common you’ll get sick of saying it to everyone you meet! 😂😂
And when you least expect it, travellers will approach you and ask if you want to join them to see a tourist place or go for lunch/dinner. If it matches your plans then it’s easy to go as a pair or group which will make your travelling experience more enjoyable!😁 don’t be afraid to be the first one to ask as well, people are always down to making new friends and doing activities.
I’m sure you’ll have such a fun time!! Good luck on your future travels💜
hi! what camera do you use?
All the footage was filmed on an iPhone 8 Plus! :)
where online did you meet your friend??
Hey what travel insurance plan did you go with? Which company?
Hi alan Voong, I went with Cover for you insurance company. You fill in a quick form about where you plan to travel, how long and what you are going to be doing. They will then tailor your trip and recommend you a travel plan, so it was super easy and hassle free for me. Make sure to read the terms and conditions and that is also covers the regions you plan to travel to. If you have anymore questions please let me know.... Thanks for watching! :)

Thank you Venk Putta! That is a very kind comment, thanks for watching!
And I have confidence in you that you'll travel the world as well! You might feel too young or unprepared but as long as you are responsible and can take care of yourself, then have so much fun, make new friends, learn about the countries you visit and the planning/expenses will all be worth it!

Omg this is my dream to do! How much did you save to go to all these countries x
I’m not sure how much she had but I’ve heard it’s possible to do all this with about £3500 - £5000 depends how you want to live, hope this helps :)
@@leonbaker3508 Exactly!:) thanks for the help.
I worked at sainsburys and saved just under £4,000 to take out there. This does not include travel insurance and my first flight to singapore (around £500). Whilst I was out there I was staying at hostels and the food was also cheap.
Helpful websites to check flights: Flyscanner

Oh how i miss my bodega hostels hahahaha
I was not ready for what a Bodega hostel experience would be like haha. So many crazy stories came from there!!! :)
Is Thailand safe to go as a female solo traveller? I want to go so much but Im also very scared
It is ok. Just watch ur cocktail or whatever u drink.
did you go through a travel agency or plan everything yourself? how does the travel insurance work when you move around for country to country?
Hi Matt, thanks for your patience!
I planned everything myself, by watching youtube videos of solo traveller's giving their advice on what to bring, to hostel recommendations, locations and activities to do in each country. I think there's lots of information out there to help you and its great to take advice from videos or blog posts which have been 'recently posted' because after covid some countries have changed slightly, e.g. I recently re visited Phi Phi Islands in Thailand which is known to be this party island full of foreigners but after visiting this summer in 2022, lots of shops have closed down, the businesses are still recovering and the island has not been looked after properly so the beauty of it was taken away unfortunately.
So my recommendation is check out recent blogs and youtube videos. You can follow the exact routes people have done if you like a structured plan. For me I took notes and I adapted to it, like what would suit my arrival time, the activities Im interested in, take into consideration the season you are travelling in- some sights are best in colder temps or hotter seasons!! Most of South East Asia in summer is rain/typhoon weather so expect mostly rain so then plan to go early in the year like January if you can. Cater your schedule to you but take in all the inspo thats available online.
useful sites for South East Asia Travel Guides:
1. www.lonelyplanet.com/asia
2. www.nomadicmatt.com/travel-guides/southeast-asia-travel-tips/
3. www.introtravel.com/travel-blog/ultimate-guide-backpacking-south-east-asia/
For me I chose to go with "Cover for you Insurance" which I read online was a trustworthy company and I read through their Terms and conditions etc. The reason why I went with them is because you can fill a short survey about your trip, they will create an insurance plan that suits you. And it made finding the right insurance cover easy and hassle free for me. I made sure it covered the region of where I was travelling to. I hope this helped your re search! Good luck with your travels :)
@@danicaangel OMG thank you for replying and the links and the advice! :D Im leaving and starting in Philippines at the end of January but still got a lot of prep so thank you for the tips!
@@matt_deguz13 Wow! That sounds amazing. I am from the Philippines and I think you will love it out there. January time will be warm weather and little rain for you! We have a lot of islands, please check out Siargao Island, Coron, Cebu, Bohol, and Palawan...
Good luck on your travels! :D
As a fellow foreigner in my own country the mosquitoes love us, so bring lots of repellent spray, suncream, a hat because the sun is pretty powerful too. Plus having cash and coins on hand is helpful because to get around there is a lot of motorcycle cabs!
@@danicaangel im actually from Philippines too and im going with my familyhahaha still planning for a few days in palawan then to Bali next moving upwards around asia which ill be doing solo from there but a lot of planning and still quiete anxious to solo travel😬
What kind if things would you recommend to avoid getting lonely as im quiet extroverted and like being around people?
Who wants to backpack Asia and meet up in 2022
I really wanted to watch this video... but it’s way to jumpy and made me feel sick after a few mins... slow it down a little and it would be perfect. PS the comment about people would find an 18year old mixing with older odd... is an extremely immature comment to make! People in this world want to have fun regardless of age!
Hi, thanks for your feedback. I'm new to videography so I'll l definitely try to improve my editing skills for future videos.
However, I would have to disagree with your opinion that my comment on age was 'extremely immature'.
This was a journey told from my perspective which was that, the people who were around me at the time such as friends and family. All told me that it was crazy for a young person to travel on their own and that I would be lonely. This was obviously not the case when I was out there and my intention to create this video was to actually reassure young solo travellers who are inspired to see the world in the future- that they should not carry such fears and doubts in their minds.
I had no ill intentions to suggest that young people or older, should be deterred from interacting with one another. I am simply stating that connecting with people who are not close in age as themselves is not as worrisome as they think. I wanted to get that message across because travelling for the first time is scary, it's an investment and people want to know if they'll have a good experience before they take a leap of faith.
@@danicaangel it’s great too hear you made your own views and opinions... regardless of age if your both travelling abroad then there is certain mentality that both people possess making it super easy to connect! If people have the view point that socialising with older people is odd... then maybe it’s not for them and they should holiday instead!
Ultimately... it’s what you make out if it! I’ve just turned 30 and travel when works allows... but the biggest advice I recommend is too remind people that we all see things differently, take on board what people say... but reserve judgement and make your own assessment! Make your experiences yours!
