I got 2 questions! I'd love to hear what your answer is to either or both: 1) What are you the most excited about on the design? 2) Whats 1 design idea you think we could fit into this house? :)
I can't wait to see the systems that you use to keep the house off the grid. I didn't see mention of anything related to the vacuum tubes you used with your home so I'm interested to see how you plan on heating the space and water. 😚
@@AmandaComeauCreates Cant wait to show them to you :) The Cubic Mini Wood Stove though is one of 2 ways we will be heating. It's the same stove I own and it's great. The later models have only improved as well so I look forward to using it!
I like the "great room". Considering most people don't move their tiny often, hiring a flatbed for towing is not a big deal and you gain that lower gooseneck second level. Air quality is important, especially in a small space, so make sure there is good ventilation; I put a Lunos system into my daughter's tiny house AND a stove hood and bathroom exhaust. I'm thinking a separately vented composting toilet might also have been a good plan.
Planning+Materials+Innovation=Genius. Rainscreen+Outsulation=Expert++. Systems Integration+Interior Design=Awesome. Double Decker+Foldout Stages=Rock Star. Blown Away! So much info in links=Great!
Those reference pictures in the video were so good right?? :) We have some fantastic ideas in the works. POTENTIAL SPOILER: I got one of the students on the project looking hard into infinity mirrors... google them ;)
I especially like the design of the trailer and how it allows for the raised living room/2nd bedroom as well as the master bedroom at the back which converts to a concert stage!
It's going to be so hard to give this house away at the end haha. I can just imagine using the stage wall set up + a mosquito net... having an outdoor office and sleeping "outside" at night but in ones own bed
Ok I'm most excited about the steel frame and heating considerations, I'm super excited about the convertable nature of the master bedroom.. Wow.. teaching permaculture and doing outdoor presentations, community movie nights, hosting pop up Burlesque shows( cause I do burlesque professionally) just wow.. I can totally see my family in this house. Not to mention with the convertible two bedroom space aspects.. coffee in bed hecks to the yea!! I have questions though.. about off grid and water situations and how much planned storage there is for water and grey water assembles, where you would put them ( that couch looks like it could totally hold some liters) and what kind of composting toilet are you thinking of? Gotta plan for enough poo pucks per volume! also If I may... that sunken bathtub.. a mini japanese style soaker under the shower... this is the bathroom dreams are made of.. I dont know if after a long day in the garden or dancing.... I could give up a hot bath. Have you considered water catchement systems from the roof? Yea I know ...Canada.. and winter.. but still why or why not? Love and mad respect for you and the design team, KAte and LAnny
Haha, sounds like you know where it's at! :) Permaculture + Tiny homes + Community + entertainment. I'm just waiting for the explosion of Caravan communities again. Like Oregon Trail. But more fun. And less dying from dysentery. We have a fake floor. Over a foot deep. This is where all the tanks and utilities will be going. Water catchment? Great for BC maybe. The rest of Canada struggles unless you got a LOT of roof. And maybe a way to melt snow.
This is a great design that will have broad appeal. I'm wondering, is there a pitch to this roof where the solar pannels are installed? As a fellow Canadian I worry about things like snow loads, will this design be strong enough to take a few feet of snow from a blizzard? Is there a way to get on the roof in winter to shovel snow off the solar panels? I design small homes/tiny mobile homes with Sketchup and I often find myself concidering design questions such as these. Eventually I'd like to develop a small tiny home community where people can grow their own food on a beautiful, forested, riverside property I have in Southwestern Ontario along the Sydenham river. It would be awesome if you could make it out this way for your workshops this summer - London, Sarnia or Chatham Ontario are close by. I also have factory space on the farm near these urban centres, I would be very happy to have your organization hold workshops here - out of the weather.
Hi Craig! Absolutely. Let's stay in touch! :) always got my eyes and ears open for the right opportunities. Perhaps reach out through the website contact form at www.kentonzerbin.com and let's chat over email and I'll get your contact info and more details. Also yes, there is a pitch to the roof! It's slight though and for heavy snow events a ladder is needed to access to the roof if shoveling is required.

A loft
@@jonlaughton7689 we were tempted but as we are giving the house away to an unknown person, we wanted to make sure it was ultra accessible.

Wow, you made me want axels. Never thought I'd ever type that. lol
Buhaha! best comment yet ;)
🙌🏼
I love this design! I really love the great room idea, the raised living room, and eating bars. Also really love how functional the master bedroom is.
😊 multifunctional ftw!
Love the mini cubic. I love the wood stove heater
Can hardly wait to see the bathroom design.

So cool! Looking forward to seeing the finished tiny-house!
You and me both haha.
Loved your workshop in Toronto last spring, please plan your tour to Muskoka.
Will try our best! Exact tour route is still being pencilled up :)

likey the drawbridge concept for the stage
Love the lower to the ground design! What is the measurement from the ground to the floor in the main area and on the upper gooseneck layer?
I really look forward to theses videos!! Thanks 🙏

The height that you mention 13.6 as the max is that including the trailer
I love the breakfast nook! I am wondering about natural lighting and windows. Will there be a sunroof or way to let all that in?
Sooooo many windows, though none on the roof! We have solar panels and a stage up there that take up all the real estate :)
Do you need to have a “trailer “if you’re not going to move it?
Can't wait to see that sexy beast on the road!!
Can't wait to visit you and show off Silent Monkey's handiwork throughout the whole tour
