Thanks for watching!! What are some of your favorite hiking snacks and backpacking foods?! Comment below 👇
I love treating myself to a payday candy bar. If you have an idea of a healthier version of that would be wonderful.
For long horseback excursions we often brought our version of Ranger cookies because they were filling and traveled well in your pocket or saddlebag without crumbling. They had oats, honey, walnuts or shredded coconut, brown sugar and some kind of dried fruit, usually sweetened cranberries in them. Even the horses enjoyed a bite!
I love that you use reusable bags! I wish more outdoor enthusiasts on CZcams would use them!
Hey Chef…. Dinner idea… stove top stuffing…. Packet gravy mix… packet of chicken ( like tuna ) … pecans… dried cranberries… add hot water an ready to eat in minutes…. Trail Thanks giving dinner… Keep on Cooking..🍺
I just looove your videos… I love the rythme, not to fast, the views, the music, everything, thank you 😌
You're welcome! So glad you like them!
Beautiful videography! 🤩
Love your meal ideas and that you use reusable bags 😊
Perfect timing! Was planning a short backpacking trip and was struggling with food ideas! ☺️
I love the homemade energy bites! We are always trying to find new snack foods for on the trail and I can’t wait to take some of these with on our next hike.
Loved this video! I love backpacking. Beautiful video and fun!!!
Great video. Even as someone who eats a plant based diet I can get something from the food you took. I love snacking on nuts and fruit and TJs has energy bites called Fooze Balls that I keep in my hip pockets to snack on. Similar to the ones you made. Beautiful scenery and cinematography. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
Thanks for the video! I'm going canoe camping at Kejimkujik NP&HS in July and may try that ramen recipe.
Amanda , thank you for this video , I have a question young lady.. Why do you guys like to walk so much ? I backpack behind the wheel of my Ford. I love your videos but at 69 years old I can't walk to much. Spent most of my adult life hanging sheetrock and now my knees are shot. I ENVY you guys I remember when I was able to do that. Once hiked 7 miles back in the beartooth mountains in montana. It was fun but can't do it anymore.. THANK YOU FRANK FROM MONTANA...
You ask why they hike so much and follow it up that you have hiked and enjoyed it; I think you answered your own question. Nature is beautiful, peaceful, and being active is better than sitting on your ass all day. And now their ad and other revenue from this channel is paying for them to do it.
Epic camp site Wow.... Ok so the Date Coconut balls are on my list of goodies, so are the Oloves... You should try the powdered Sriracha from Farm to Summit! Adds a bit of a kick to meals, and a pinch in Hot Chocolate is the bomb.
Love that idea!
Great video and great information
Love your videos, been a fan for a long time🥰❤️❤️👍👍
Your videos are always so fun to watch, the scenery is so gorgeous. Utah is my favorite place on earth, and even though I'm just up the road in Idaho, I don't get down there as often as I'd like. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through your hikes! LOL
So glad you enjoy the videos! Utah really is so beautiful, although we love Idaho too!
Ramen, looked really good!
Those time lapses ❤
Some great ideas there! - and beautifully filmed, All the best, Andy
Thank you for commenting Andy!
could you poach some of those jerky strips to rehydrate them and add the meat and extra sauce it’d creat to your ramen?
I reckon that’d be super tasty
It wouldn't likely turn out the way you think. If you want to rehydrate something, you'd be better off making pemmican where the meat is finely ground instead of jerky. The Natives and mountain men often rehydrated their pemmican after travelling with it.
Nice video. Looks chill out there. The energy bites look great. I really need to try the dehydrator. I could make use of all the fruit this time of year and make some fruit leather.
I love making fruit leather in the dehydrator!
I love your adventures...❤...great meals and treats ideas, thanks. 😊
You are so welcome!
OK, you've convinced me to up my dehydrator game, I've only used it for fruits. Care to share your jerky recipe? I do like your idea of using your dehydrated fruits in making your trail mix. Also like your idea of mueslix and powdered milk, a welcome change to my usual oatmeal. Many great ideas for backpacking/overnight camps, when space/weight is at a premium; you two ate very well!
Hi Amanda, thank you for your videos ! You are helping me to find some peace wanting to plan backpaking and camping !
Could you share the brand of your reusable food pouches ? they seem really convenient !
Good stuff! I ordered some of those olives for my daughter in law, she love olives! lol.
Thanks for taking us with you. Masterfully filmed. Ginger chews are a favorite of mine too. I have some with me most of the time. If allergies , sinus, throat issues pop up I reach for my chews and it makes it go away most of the time, for me. Could you eat that cold soak breakfast meal warm? Add raisins or other dried fruit. I really enjoy this style of video from you guys. You both look VERY happy and fit/ strong btw!
You can cook the breakfast with hot water too and I think it would be more like oatmeal. So glad you enjoyed this video! It was a little different and fun for us to make!
Sesame oil packets are incredible in ramen! Changes a lot
One of my favorites are 50/50 mix of Dehydrated Refried Beans & Minute Rice + Taco seasoning + equal parts boiling water, OK to add Cheese & Fritos if you got them. If I can only eat one thing it would be Walnuts, 3000 calories a pound, shelf stable, no cook, mostly Fat for energy.
I love that you make your own snacks with the reusable bags, but seems to negate the package saving when you buy all the individually package snacks and electrolyte mix. 6:49 6:50
Hi love your videos. The camp food videos and photography are truly amazing. Great ideas that I have used on the trail here and camping in the east. Since I don’t know much of the trails in the west, could you take a quick moment and share where you are hiking, the miles expected per day and how you keep your food safe from the animals. How much water you have packed in for the two days. I am thinking you store the food away from your campsite like we have to keep it away from bears and what is that like in Zion.
I love your videos! First, the scenery is amazing! You find BEAUTIFUL places to hike and camp. As a “hiker beginner”, I would love to get more into it. We love to camp, and our state parks have some nice trails to hike, but I’ve not ever done it before. How do I get started? I walk every morning, but it’s not hiking. Would love to see a video about getting started if you are a beginner:
Great montage of the shooting stars at 15:05
That's all Nick! I promised to get out of the tent with him if he took the photos!
Awesome campsite. As a carnivore I’m with Nick, where’s the meat?? Lol those energy balls looked great.
That was a risky move trying out a food combination you didn't know would work or not on an overnight trip. 😂 Glad it worked out!
An overnight is the perfect time to test different food options. You aren’t committed for several days.
Really?! Why?
I am totally addicted to GinGins. They’re hard to find where I live so very special. I like to make energy bites w almond butter, almond flour, cocoa powder, cinnamon and cardamom. Sometimes I’ll add mini semi sweet chocolate bits. It’s super easy! BTW your hike and camp spot are so beautiful! I’d love to get out west someday!
I can honestly eat an entire bag of those ginger candies in a day 😂 I LOVE them!
Oh yes. Absolutely. No answering the phone w a mouth full of GinGins!!!!
Nice ramen mix up! Did you pack in all your water or use your grayl along the way?
You amaze me with your food creations. Looked pretty tasty.
Was that West Rim? I think I camped at the same site back in 2019, I remember that huge downed tree.
Yes it was! I've wanted to do this trail for years. It did not disappoint!!
Really enjoying your videos 😊 can you link the bone broth that you used? Thanks
I will add it to the description. Thanks for reminding me. It's the brand Bare Bones.
Nick said where's the meat! Could have chopped up a few pieces of your jerky and rehydrated it, or if you take it again, foil chicken packs, or maybe even foil packs of Spam? Beautiful country! Thanks for sharing you two!
Are you both hiking in sandals? Which ones hold up to all those miles? (I hike in sneakers.)
What brand is the peanut butter you mixed with the ramen?
Where do you get the bone broth packs?
It's pronounced muse (like the band) lee, I like Bob's Red Mill the best, but also make my own. Really enjoyed the video!
Is there an alternative to oatmeal? Oatmeal doesn't sit well in my belly if you catch my drift.
What brand of powder milk do you use?
New backpacking food source.... Squirrels!
I am definitely no authority on this, but I think its pronounced Mew-slee. But honestly your way is so much cuter because it makes me think of a moose haha
Those ground squirrels are just rats with fully tails.
1:51 She pees standing up....I like your style😎
You like to eat, but you eat good and neutrinos food I like that in you two I'd like to go along w/you two so I'll subscribe 😊
