      Side note about these power banks and this step is extremely important and must be done, regardless, reference to the person that can not get past 2 bars .before solar charging you must fully charge with wall USB then here is the most important thing that must be done you use it drain it down to 25% then plug back in the wall takes 8 hours or so fully charging again once charged use it again this time drain all the way to ruffly 10% again charging fully in wall this being the 3rd time fully charged again qnd for the last time you use it all the way drain it. Plug it in charging fully again and your ready to go it amazing how long it last I charged my laptop 2 phone a tablet and had 35 40 % left the instructions tell you do do what I explained but its proven that 96% won't do it hope this helps

      Wasn't getting a green light at all, charge it to 80% first in the wall and now I got a green charge light so seems all good to go.

    I personally will go for a standalone solar panel charger then get a more reliable battery bank. It's a bit more hassle but since they're both standalone, if one breaks, I can just replace either.

    I generally keep my phone off. I use the batteries for lights and gps watch. Your phones lication works off satellite not cell service. It worked for ke on a naval vessel way in the persian gulf or working for trident seafoods. You touch the location and hold on the map and it gives you lat and long in decimal or you can download an app for utm. The phone gos isnt as good as dedicated gps with signal strength so i generally dont take it to keep it on

      @ONeillOutdoors  Před 2 lety +4

      Hey thanks!
      It does not have to be super sunny out. It will charge in the shade. Temp does not matter, just the rays of light. It will charge in the shade, and on cloudy days. But if it’s nearly dark out, solar won’t work. Again, this will work on semi-cloudy days!

    • @ONeillOutdoors
      @ONeillOutdoors  Před 11 měsíci +1

      It takes about 48 hours to fully charge if only using solar.
      But off one charge you can get 7-8 full charges on a iPhone. I carry 3 with me in the field and leave 2 out charging and use one to cycle through charging my phone, a tablet and GoPro batteries!
      If you cycle them and recharge the others during the day… you can go a week easy!
      That’s what we have done for the last couple years on 7 day elk hunts in the backcountry.

    • @ONeillOutdoors
      @ONeillOutdoors  Před rokem +1

      It can recharge while charging a device.
      How long to charge depends on the intensity of the sun light. If it is in direct sunlight sooner. It does take a while to charge, but it stores up a lot! I can get 7-8 charges on my iPhone from one entire battery and usual 3-4 on my tablet.
      I leave two of them it sitting out the entire day while I’m out in the field and can recharge my GoPros and phones when I get back during the night… I think it’s a great option for carrying less into the field.
      It will recharge faster if it is plugged into a wall outlet. FYI.

    • @ONeillOutdoors
      @ONeillOutdoors  Před 2 lety +2

      The packs had a full charge from the start. The first night I charged 3 GoPro batteries and my phone. The next morning I laid out the chargers in the sunlight and went out fishing. In the evenings I charged the batteries and my phone again. The chargers got put in sunlight every day and pretty much all day.
      I repeated this cycle for 4 days until my trip was over. They didn’t get drawn all the way to zero, so it did a pretty good job of recharging to full power.
      These did great.

      That I don’t know… I would only assume so. They do take a day or so to fully charge indirect sunlight…. So what I tend to do is use a wall cord to fully charged them before I head out and then rotate/cycle usage on them as I leave the others out to charge… since I can charge my phone or GoPro for camera batteries multiple times off of one full charge. I usually never drain them all the way down. This makes it a lot quicker and easier to rotate through the battery and chargers as I leave them out in the sun during the day.
