I used to take ephedra in the early 2000s before it was banned. It was sold over the counter as yellow jackets. It helped me get through college, well before I was diagnosed.
This comment ! ❤️❤️I just pulled my medical records from my college’s clinic. In one of the notes the doctor quoted me; the patient says; “im so sleepy all the time I can sleep all day, the only way I can get up and go to class is to take these Yellowjacket pills I got at the gas station” 🤣😩😥
Over the counter energy pills , then when I got access to insurance the doctor called my accidents and brain fog … adhd he gave me adderall. lol 10 years later, I got the narcolepsy & Hypersomnia diagnosis, they were like here, take this adderall 🤦♀️😳🙄 .
I’m laughing at how she says, “i wonder how these patients felt when there was no treatment.” Is there treatment now? Lol 😂 As someone who lived their entire 20s on ephedrine pills because I didn’t have access to health insurance, thus, no diagnosis. I had no idea I was actually treating my IH& narcolepsy. Later when I finally got insurance and access to more “formal,sophisticated, treatment” known as adderall 😆🤦♀️🙄. P.S there is absolutely NO difference between the gas station ephedrine pills and the adderall my doctor gives me -- they are equally as horrible on the body and especially the mind . 😏. Once you’ve used amphetamines it’s very difficult to get results form the non-stimulating treatment options. The most effective treatment for narcolepsy is totally revamping your lifestyle to be more compatible with sleeping often and spontaneously. This is essentially the exact opposite of the wake-Centric American lifestyle. It can be very difficult.
I’m surprised you’re being prescribed adderall. I’ve never been presented with that as an option over the past 20+ years. Ritalin is as close as I got to that. Although it was when I was first diagnosed, but that was only as a crutch for times when provigil wasn’t working well.
The pills were slowly killing me. I switched to a wfpb diet and exercise and helped myself more than the doctors ever did. All they push is dangerous pills which make you worse in the long haul from withdrawls.
@@Poppacap79 I'm prescribed 30mg Vyvanse and 70mg Vyvanse it's the only thing that works for me. I was diagnosed with ADHD first. And when you are treated for a comorbidity first you are not recommended to take narcolepsy medicine. I tried it and had severe reactions. Each person is different. If you did research you would not be surprised by her treatment of Adderall at all.
I recently changed neurologists and after telling him I had had some hallucinations, sleep paralysis episodes and loss of time, he asked me if I had ever been diagnosed with narcolepsy. He referred me to a sleep study which is 5 months out. If anyone wants a willing participant who is not embarrassed to discuss any aspects or symptoms for a study or patient study, I would be willing to help. Leave a message and it will show in my e mail.
