Wrestling - if you’re under the age of 18 and there’s a program in your school to join for free. Wrestling shoes are needed obviously but other than that Usually shorts or sweats and regular T shirt will suffice
Boxing - it attracts poor inner city kids as a positive outlet for their anger and is taught in a lot of community centers on top of being an Olympic sport. Can box using running shoes, boxing shoes or wrestling shoes which are cheaper btw.
Judo - also an Olympic sport and doesn’t have all the flashiness of expensive bjj gi’s. Though pure judo schools are going to be rare nowadays if you live in the US at least
That being said all three are more competition oriented since they all are Olympic sports and attract competitive people. Except maybe boxing if you make it very clear you’re just doing it as a hobby and don’t want to actually be a fighter they probably won’t even pressure you to spar if you don’t want to

No, HEMA is way more. Good armor is not cheap trust me.

Im spending 500$ each 6 months repairing/maintaining armor and around 250$ for my weapons. Not even saying how much lessons cost.
You get what you pay for.. the most effective anyway.
