Cave Story 3D is a 3D version of the game developed by Nicalis and published by NIS America as a retail title for the Nintendo 3DS. It was released on 8 November 2011 in North America, 11 November 2011 in Europe and 26 July 2012 in Japan. The game was built from scratch using 3D character models, featuring a dynamic camera system and another additional level, as well as a remixed soundtrack by Danny Baranowsky. The Japanese version features crossover content from various NIS franchises such as Crazy Climber, Ikki, and Dragon Slayer. In order to devote more time to perfecting the title, Amaya quit his job as a software developer to become director of Cave Story 3D.He remarked that the transition to 3D was difficult because it required the consideration of so many more details.

So weird seeing the game look like this after playing Cavestory+
Its even more weird coming from the original
So infinitely better.
@@GenMaster Primarily much darker, but also much more detailed.
I don't know if I'd prefer this over the original.
I'd like to see an Unreal Engine rework of some of the areas though.
@@Littlefighter1911 I own both versions and there's just no comparison. I'm no "graphics whore", as I love 8-bit graphics (my all-time favourite system is an 8-bit system) but one has to experience the 3D version on the 3DS in order to fully appreciate it. I also prefer the soundtrack in the 3D version. Check it out if you haven't, it's great.
24:45 it hurts me that he won't just shoot up.
this is cool but, i don't know... the game kinda loses it charm not being in 16 bits
No way.
@@GenMaster yes way
just play it....you're welcome...:P
I feel sorry for whoever first experienced this game with 3D
I feel sorry for those who don't own Cave Story 3D. 😊
@@GenMaster is it good? I havent play this cave story game yet but i only have a 3ds and a laptop
@lack The original PC version is freeware, so everyone can play it.
@@demiurge7676 It is amazing. I played the original PC version first, then the DSi ware version and then the 3DS remake and I tell you, the remake blows the original out of the water.
The gameplay is practically identical, but everything else has been revamped to monumental proportions. With the 3D effect on, it's like you're there, in those environments. They come to life. And I'm not even a huge fan of the 3D mode, but they nailed it in this game, despite it being a mere 2.5D platformer.
Yo momma feel sorry for you
Whoof, Polygons don't do much for making this game's environments readable.
Sour grapes.
This may not be the most charming version of Cave Story, but Mimiga village for example seemed much more expressive in a way...I prefer the original, but this was cool to see.
I thought the graphics look pretty good.
11:30 sounds like an awesome ringtone XD
Hey, ever heard of shooting up
Honestly, I hope they remake it someday. A 3d Cave Story is 100% worth making well, and it showed a lot of potential.
This looks like a PS1 version of the game. Kinda cool except some enemies blend in with the backgrounds and it's a bit too dark in general.
If the game wasn't so dim and if the models were a bit more polished, it would be a lot better. The enhanced music is really good, so there's that.
GOIABexp The music is present on the Steam release. You can also mod the original game to have this music
@@theobserver4214 I know.
I mean it's cool the soundtrack and the graphics but holy shit these models...
If I could ask King anything my 1st question would be "Are you a rabbit or a goat?"
a rabbit, dont confuse him with the goat that was created by that other indie game developer
He LOOKS like a rabbit
@@CurlyButCZcams he IS a rabbit
He’s a mimiga
Basically, he's a mimiga
8 second intro that is too loud. Here, have a downvote.
Those backgrounds are eye candy, and you can switch to the sprite characters from the original game but in the HD landscape
I personally prefer the ds version. must be why they shut it down
They shut it down because they made a port of + to the eShop. The only way to play this remake is on a cartridge.
I heard that this 3D version is notthat good, is it true?
The truth is infront of you, it looks like shit.
Obviously not dude
It's the best version.
depends on who you ask
It plays the same, people hates it, just for the way it looks.
I don't like how it looks. Can we change it back to the original aspect?
David Gomes There’s another copy the is in the Nintendo eShop. It looks like the original and is $10.
and sound pls
Klonoa's cave story
You can play it on the 2ds :)
U should try the original one
a good idea made in the wrong time, with the wrong bases of the game
Ngl seem good to be a 3d remake but these models...
Why are some things 2D sprites but some are 3D? Hopefully it looks better on the hardware cause its UGLY here.
Some things in 2d?
@@rosergio7227 yeah, some enemy projectiles are their original sprites, probably modeller oversites
Hello, adore you, bref no english moi français
OLOCKNH MEWU
I was thinking of buying this but watching it - there's just too many interruptions where you have to talk to characters who spout inane drivel. I wish it was all action, and not dull talking sections.
The game has really good action gameplay and story. Almost every game has talking sections dunno why that is a problem. Give it a try. It's not very long but has great replayabilty. It will blow your mind how good this game is. There's a reason this game was one of the first indie games that brought indie development to light
xlight1994 I think he is talking about the crappy 3D version
I might be late, but don’t make a judgement of the game based off the 3D version, check out any other version (except maybe Wii, but that’s shut down anyway) and you would get a better idea of this game.
lol @ all the salty kids who don't own this (superior to the original) 3D remake and try to downplay it in the comments. 😏
If you're joking, lol.
If youre not joking, how is this superior to the original? I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying, unless you REALLY want cave story for 3ds, why would you want to buy this game that costs $50 at the minimum as opposed to, say, Cave story+ for switch for $30 or PC for $15?
@@faultyvideos2215 Sorry to burst your bubble, but of course I'm serious. Why you'd think I'm joking is beyond me.
That aside, you're trying to make some sort of argument about the 3D remake's quality (or lack thereof, from your perspective) and the only parameter you manage to bring up as a point is the purchase cost...
Let me break it down for you a little, since it's obviously called for: the 3D remake is superior to the original in *every* way (save for the general premise of the game, I guess, since that aspect has practically been left untouched). You also can't tell from the video, but the 3D feature adds a lot of immersion to the game. It's like *you're there* . Mind you, I'd already played - and finished - the original before I played the 3D remake.
I bought it when it came out, for $34.99 or something of that magnitude so I don't know where you're getting that $50 price tag from. Unless you're talking about scalper prices...
Of course, it goes without saying that a remake with better graphics, a better soundtrack _and_ a 3D feature will cost more. That much should be fairly obvious to anyone.
I thought you hated Nintendo. Wouldn't the "Ninshito" version be INFERIOR to the original?
@@goiabexp Ninshito didn't make the game...
Gen the Master
A+ troll m8, keep up the good work
Ugly colors.
