My hair routine that helped me get strong hair growth is:
- Brushing hair
- Take a shower
- Carefully dry my hair
- Put hair oil (2 times a week)

This is my exact question. My intuition says to spread it into the entirety of the top, but I worry that's the wrong way and I'll just be wasting it 😬
You can use it over the top then. It isn't only specific to bald spots as far as I know. No need to wait for more thinning then.
The official literature says it's not for thinning hair from aging, only for hereditary androgenic hair loss. In other words, balding. However, our use is a known off-label use. Hopefully we will see results close to those from the required regulatory testing.

Use it now. It also can prevent further hair loss. I wish I would've started it as soon as I noticed mine thinned out. I'm still trying it to see if it helps, but I'm afraid it's too late for me because I waited too long
When applying minoxidil to my medium-long hair using the pipette, I find that a significant amount goes onto my hair rather than my scalp, and I feel that 1 ml is insufficient. Can someone offer guidance?
Wherever you apply the minoxadil part the surrounding hair. This way you can get your pipette directly to your scalp skin.

my minoxidil come in a tiny pouring bottle so 25 drop doesn’t really work for me

According to the instructions, it does not work for hair growth any where on the head except the back crown !! Even the package it comes in tell you where it works...
Im pretty sure the reason that it says it only works on that area is because the medical trials were only conducted on the crown of the scalp. I think using it on the harline should also help regrowth
According to my dermatologist, I should put it all over the scalp. The packaging also says the 5% solution is not for women but my dermatologist says women can also use it. The packaging says only for men because the trials of 5% were only done on men and that’s what was FDA approved but it can also be used for women.

I have a question for those using minox for hair growth. We are told to use it twice a day on clean scalp. So everytime we are to use it, we have to clean our hair first? So I'm assuming that we have to use shampoo twice a day so we can use minox effectively on a clean scalp right? Bcoz I dont think its clean enough to wash our hair only with water after using minox bcoz of its residue. On the other hand, we are also taught that its not good to wash our hair frequently as it will remove the natural oil on the scalp. So any suggestions regarding this?
im using for 4.5 months. i applied without care, sometimes once a day sometimes twice, without washing. and did not care about applying well on the scalp but i got amazing results. hope this helps

I am using minoxidil so i need to use dandruff shampoo,my hair becomes more oily sometimes, so can i use normal shampoo?is it okay to use normal shampoo on one day and dandruff shampoo on another dayy?
use ketoconazole medical shampoo (commonly found as nizoral) every other day or less. it dries out the scalp, so frequent application may cause irritation. avoid dandruff-treating shampoo which do not use ketoconazole as the active ingredient.
I use a foam one and have a receding hair line, is it better to apply on the parts that are receding or on my crown? Or should i alternate between the two?

@@andrjsjan4231 minoxidil feels just like water. Its not like gel. If you put it on your finger and try to get it on your scalp then it will drop off before you get your hands up. Its better to use the dropper that comes with it. If you are using the foam then yes put it on fingers then message.
So you CAN put on damp hair then blow dry?
Let it air dry. The foam isn't worth while. Get the liquid dropper. Part hair in a line, Apply down part. Rub in. Create new part an inch over. And repeat.
I am a 67 year old woman and I just noticed facial hair from this. I put it on at night and I feel like it gets on my pillowcase. is that what is happening?

its not a side effect. you just misinterpret what minoxidil actually does. it grows hair everywhere. its not only for your head
Wrap your hair in a silk bonnet. Also wash or change out your pillowcase daily.

yes, the half life of minoxidil is 22 hour. so no need to use it twice. once is enough

My doctor has an underactive thyroid and instructed me to use 5% men’s twice a day. She’s young and says she’s using it indefinitely along with dermastamping
