I'm 24 and i used to like that kind of music. I don't dislike it, but I'm asking myself if it brings glory to god. Just feels different, but if I'm right god isnt just speaking to me about this and thats why I'm asking if someone feels the same.
I was at this conference and I really felt God moving through this entire worship set - certain things will always offend certain people. Being there, in his presence, there was no doubt it all gave him glory.
It's good to ask questions and to do it with a right heart attitude; not condeming or offended, but with a genuine and sincere interest in the answer. However, we can get so bogged down with seeking the "bad guy" that we get consumed with looking for the counterfit, that we loose sight of what we are really here for: WORSHIP unto the Lord. We get so caught up in doing the accusing, that we easily forget that He will confirm His people/word.
I think you're right. Some Christians will feel offended by this and some will say they feel God's presence. "Feel" being the key word. Our feelings are pretty subjective and we probably shouldn't be basing too much on them. I think what we should be looking for is lyrics that exalt Jesus and reiterate truth from God's Word. I think the music behind it does matter as well, but it's hard to know where to draw the line between worldly sounding and God honoring. But that's just my opinion :)
Jesus is the son of God who died and rose three days later so you can be free forgiven healed delivered saved baptized and so much more. Believe in Him as the son of God and you are saved eternally and will live eternally. He's awesome and wants us knowing Him and spending time with Him. Ask anything in Jesus name and He will do it.🙏 🔥💕🕊️🙏
got to consider the audience.. its not my usual style, but to be honest i think its kind of epic. some things grieve the spirit other things just grieve our flesh.. ihop is based on a principle of enjoyable prayer and if the 12-15 year olds can engage in prayer with this backdrop of music then i got no worries
The sound doesn't make a difference. There's Christian reggae, metal, rap, or pop. The heart is what God looks like. Everyone likes different music, and that's the way God made us, as long as we're giving glory to God, you can make anything happen.
I've questioned the same thing. There are times, like the part you pointed out, when I have to ask myself, is this glorifying God or simply pleasing man? I just feel that we shouldn't have to conform to the sound of the world to attract people. We should be a little more set apart. Rom 12:2. I'm not trying to dis IHOP. I really do love their worship, especially Misty. Her passion for the Lord amazes me. I hope I didn't open a can of worms here :)
Music comes from God, so why should a certain type of music be rejected because it's labelled 'the sound of the world' and not viewed the other way around (that the world has been tapping into God's sound, but twisting it to suit their intentions)? Why would hymns be any more glorifying than this, or vice versa? Each individual expresses their heart cry differently, I don't think it makes a difference how it sounds... it's all the same to God if it comes from the heart.
Yup! That's the Holy Spirit. The more into God you get, the less you enjoy the things of this world. I listen to almost entirely only Christian music. I'll occasionally listen to (what I feel) good metal like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, and even Behemoth. I definitely feel the sin in it, but I don't think it's bad to it for the guitars.

If it is or isn't of Him He will let us know. Either way: Praise the Lord, and pray unto Him always.
Just thought I'd put that out there. ;-)
well, it blesses me :)

haha I still use this song for my worship time so it doesn't faze me nor the anointing anymore haha
I'm not sure if that is what it is called but it is the music you are hearing coming from the electronic piano. The guy with the laptop.
was this the fascinate conference in July? @beautyforashes613

the DUB seems more distracting at first because I did not expect that coming at all lol. So that is probably why you feel the way you do
What does DUB mean ?
Tell me what you think but at minute 9, I find the anointing stops.
