Hi Fafa. Great recipe. I tried making abolo your way but had difficulty because of the yeast. I believe you only add yeast directly if it is fast rising or rapid rise yeast. If it is active dry yeast, you first have to proof it in warm water and let it foam up before adding it in. Is that the case? If so the list of ingredients should say fast rising or rapid rise yeast. Thanks for bringing a bit of EWELAND to Obroniland!

I was really excited to try this recipe (seriously excited since this is one of my absolute favorite dishes) but it just didn’t work for me. I followed your instructions to a T and even weighed everything for the exact grams. Mine was too thick I ended up adding some additional water. Then it just wasn’t sweet enough so I added a lot more sugar. But it also didn’t ferment properly. The consistency ended up too “doughy” and too firm. I left mine to rise 2hrs so I thought it would have been more than fermented. I also don’t have the Ghana corn meal so I used the regular white corn meal you can find in stores, similar to the one you used. What did I do wrong? Can you help?
