If i'm being honest, back in early 2000's Ive never taken LCW seriously. He was just a skinny guy with average skill from Malaysia. But boy was I greatly mistaken for underestimated him? LCW was a symbol that hardwork and dedication would always overcome natural talent in the end. Taufik had all talents in this world, yet modern fans and young badminton players rarely remember his name which kinda s*cks if youre an Indonesian like me.
@@keithsamuek8268 Taufik won 2 Asian Games gold medals (2002&2006) and 1 Olympics gold medal (2004) when he was just 25 years old. Imagine the hype if a badminton player did that today. He was prodigy shame he lost his thirst when he was just about to enter his peak years as athlete.
@@harukrentz435 to me Taufik is my favorite player in term of technique, he won major titles that LCW did not have. But the level of Taufik decreased quickly after 26 years even it was a young age, means he doesn't really work hard. I rejoin the point that LCW wasn't really my favorite player before 2010. But his hardworking, his dream to win a major title for his country even he lost finals again and again but he always came back to the final after a failure, touched my heart and he is to me the most respectful badminton player ever. He deserved to be a symbol that people cannot forget and to be remember
I'm Malaysian but I have a special place in my heart for Taufik Hidayat. None of the Indonesian Singles players have come close to his standards and achievements.
