    Cheap bins are not always a good idea for a store. Your store has to be behind what it sells, you have to consider things like refunds, or if the item is complete, working, usable. It also promotes haggling in customers, even on things not in a cheap bin, and gives more of a garage sale feel to a store. It's not worth the few extra bucks.

    I could never give away games, consoles, or accessories for free.
    Though I DO regret listening to my dad in 90"s and throwing out the boxes and manuals to games/consoles because "You don't need those. They're taking up space."

    • @JuniperMe
      @JuniperMe Před 3 lety

      I ran out of space for my game collection, so unless it was in a steel book or some other sort of unusual case, I ditched all my plastic a few years ago and put the discs into a wallet. But I did keep the covers and manuals in a storage box, so it's taking up far less room.
      I had giant boxes of Blu ray and various disc based consoles cases I tried to giveaway online, only had one reply and they never showed lol.

    • @devilmikey00
      @devilmikey00 Před 3 lety

      Oh yeah, sometimes you can still find them collecting nothing but dust on as shelf years after the fact. I picked up a WoW cataclysm collectors edition for 99c in a bin nearly 5 years after that expansion was relevant (I wanted the digital stuff it included). Same with the God of War 3 one where my local gamespot was stuck with 4 giant ass ultimate edition boxes they couldn't sell months after the game came out. Probably just got chucked at some point.

  • @Uncreative1
    @Uncreative1 Před 3 lety

    Definitely irks me when people buy "collector's/limited" edition things with the intention of reselling them (the ones that keep it sealed). The whole reason they exist is for fans to get something extra, sure it may cost usually close to double of just the game and realistically not cost much to be produced, but it something that is meant to be cherished or used; not just gather dust in its box and profited from.

    Wish the grocery store I worked at had the same business sense we kept products on the shelf that didn't sell some stuff over a year once it got its expiration date we threw the whole case out and they would reorder because they just charge it back to the company. Wouldn't it be better to just keep products that sell rather than waiting months to a year to charge for that one case? We did that with lots of items.

  • @hjalmarjohnson5846
    @hjalmarjohnson5846 Před 3 lety +1

    A couple of years before I started collecting again I gave away my SNES and games to a kid I worked with because he mentioned missing his offhandedly. While I consider this to be good karma, I realize in hindsight I should have at least kept the copy of Chrono Trigger I gave away with it. Everything else was pretty mid-tier at best (Donkey Kong Country 1-3, F-zero, Uniracers, and I think Illusion of Gaia.) Everything else has since been replaced, but I've never gotten around to replacing that Chrono cart. I also used to give my older systems to my brother once I had moved on to the current generation. He scored an Xbox, Gamecube, and PS2 off me, and sold our old NES games back in the day to get a Genesis. It took me 20+ years to replace that copy of Dragon Warrior 4. And all so he could play Mortal Kombat 1 with the blood. I still bring it up at Christmas. I am a small, spiteful man.

  • @benblem147
    @benblem147 Před 3 lety

    re: cheap bin. Have you heard of Japanese 2nd hand store Hard off? They have a "junk" section: all untested, bad condition or just not worth testing for instance copies of Wii Fit and other common low demand games or bad condition consoles when they have dozens of good condition ones.
    One might have seen that video where someone bought a Wii console for 100 Yen (no cables) from this and it had disc drive problems and the video output was messed up due to a capacitor fault (but said part could be replaced).
    While I'm not into collecting right now, magazines and boxes tend to be what I ended up recycling. You can't keep hold of everything waiting for the right opportunity. I've still got a pile of magazines I'd like to try and do something with but demand is poor and they're expensive to ship due to weight. Throwing them out feels wrong as I don't think these particular ones have not been scanned yet (and are deliberately wider than A4 to frustrate scanning) but at the same time they're pretty bad being full of mistakes and being more modern a lot of the contained info can be found online (that's why I stopped buying them).
