Squamish is a town north of Vancouver, in British Columbia, Canada. It's at the northern tip of the island-dotted Howe Sound, and surrounded by mountains like the Stawamus Chief, a huge granite monolith. The Sea to Sky Gondola has views of the sound and nearby Shannon Falls, a towering waterfall cascading down a series of cliffs. The Britannia Mine Museum has underground train tours. Bike trails criss-cross the area.

Great review Leonard ! I lived in both Britannia Beach, and then in Squamish for many years in each. So many great spots all over there, Just south of Britannia but north of Porteau is a place called Minaty Bay that used to be an outlying community for the Britannia Mine. It is still one of my favorite places here on the coast. In the hills of Britannia is Mount Sheer which was devastated in the early 1900's by a massive slide "Jane camp" was said to have the assay office which legend has it was at capacity holding the company gold as well as the payrolls for the miners. Neither of which was ever recovered...

Yes, squamish is unreal. Great community of people. It is expensive, but vancouver is close by for work.
Housing is hard to come by. Since it is sandwiched between mountains and ocean. You can find a two bedroom condo for 700,000 canadian or rent for about 2800 a month. If you are open to shared living you might find a room for 1200 a month.
