  • Hey guys,
    today I want to share my personal custom function button assignments on my Fujifilm X100V.
    You probably know that on the X100V - like on all Fuji-X cameras - various buttons can be freely assigned with functions so that they are available quickly and easily when you need them. And without having to search through any menus. How I chose my assignments and why, I'll show you in today's video.
    I hope, this is helpful, have fun!

    Great. Not a single wasted second from start to the end. Very informative and rationale for each custom assignment well explained too. Newbies can simply follow your setup and expand from there to their individual taste. Thank you.

    Hi Jochen, this video you made a year and a half ago is still timely. I just got a lightly used x100v and your suggested button function assignments make a lot of sense, so I've adopted them to see how they work for me. I was a bit intimidated with how this works, but your explanation simplified the process of adapting the camera for one's own use. Thanks for the cogent and useful tips. Cheers and Merry Christmas from Lafayette, Louisiana, USA

    Great suggestions on settings as I am new to X100v, regularly using XT3. One suggestion I’d have is just set AF to AF-ALL. When you do this when you push in the joystick you can scroll thru all the AF selections. That let me keep FN to AE photometry as it is easier for me. I personally keep touch off.

    Thanks for sharing your setup buttons. I shoot with a T-3 and just recently added the 100v as a second camera. I do miss the D-pad but using the touch screen and buttons it's still very easy to use your favorite settings. I use the back dial (press) for viewfinder changes. I like shooting with just the EV when I place my eye to the sensor, but having the dial set to viewfinder changes I can easily switch to using just the LCD. I've had point and shoot cameras many times but none have the control of the 100v. It's very powerful and the best part it's fun to use. My only problem is my wife likes it also! Thanks, Jay, your videos are just right. Not a lot of scruff, just what people want to learn. I can say your 100v videos helped me decide to purchase the camera.

      Thank you very much. This is the kind of feedback that keeps me motivated. And interesting point with the LCD switch. I hacked the sensor by taping it a little bit, so that the Eye sensor works a little better. Thx for watching!

      @@Jayshooter_photo The more I dig in the better the camera seems. The leaf shutter with the built-in flash is really useful. I'm going to try and just leave it on for a while. I also watched your videos on the digital zoom vs add-on lenses. Rotating the front ring for 50/70 mm is so easy. I did my own test and I'm impressed with the results. It's certainly not like zooming with a smartphone. Thanks again!

      Agreed. Ritchie over at fujixweekly.com has made a bunch of custom profiles or "recipes" that allows one to recreate in-camera jpegs of old school film stock like the original K-12 Kodachrome and Tri-X pushed. His recipes are excellent and he might make for a good interview. This could be easily addressed over two or three videos.
      Also a video about the new color chrome and color chrome blue effects would be interesting. Being able to bring increase the blue channel while keeping red and green channels unchanged in classic chrome seems interesting.

    What I like is setting up MY MENU - top of list - to AUTO ISO command...Then on the fly press Settings button TWICE and you have command ready to change, so I dont waste another function button for this...I am not a big fan of the swipe screen, rather they just added 2 buttons on the back

    I use the ovf/evf lever for flash when my settings make it to dark to see live view. say I'm at 1/2000 , f5.6 and iso 160, nd on, on a bright day photographing a flower and I want a black or near black background.I can just switch the viewfinder to ovf and see my composition. On my X-t3 I have a dedicated function button to change preview exp. w/b, but I find that changing to ovf using the lever is much quicker and simpler for me. Thanks for your tips!

    First of all thank you for the video! I have a question I can't seem to find anywhere: do you know if it is possible to assign the shutter button to any other button? In other words: can I use, for example, the "Play" button to take a picture?

      Thx for the Feedback. Regarding ViewMode: Unfortunately, there is no longer a dedicated button for that on the X100V. You have to put the function "View Mode" on an Fn button, if you need it more often. I put it on the Fn button next to the shutter release button. Thx for watching.

    Hello; I have a problem that I hope has a simple solution such as, I'm doing something completely wrong. When I go to the quick menu, and then want to change a specific quick menu item, the rear command dial rotated does nothing. Any ideas? I really hope to see more of your videos, I really enjoy them)))

    • @Jayshooter_photo

    • @bobrosberg55
      @bobrosberg55 Před 2 lety +1

      Hello; thanks for your reply. I think I've solved part of the "problem". I had the back command dial on AF-on, which gives me a back button focus option. The quick menu button is assigned to the small Q button. So when I open the quick menu, the back dial does nothing. However, if I assign the back wheel to Q-menu, then it operates the options for each Q item. So, I'm looking for back button focus AND to be able to quickly make changes via the Q-menu. Please forgive me for my wordy response and again, thanks.

    Ich grüße dich,
    kannst du mir vll was bezgl. der custom settings erklären? Ich habe die 100V neu bekommen und habe grundsätzliche Einstellungen vorgenommen wie RAW, ISO und AF Einstellungen. Nichts an allen möglichen anderen Einstellungen. Für JPEG habe ich mir unter c1 bis c7 einige individuelle film recipes angelegt. Nachdem ich nun eines ausgewählt habe sind alle base Einstellungen quasi weg und zu „default“ würde ich es mal nennen komme ich nicht mehr zurück. Ich habe jetzt immer BASE C1 zum Beispiel. Ich muss doch hier etwas falsch machen, es kann doch nicht sein, dass ich alles was ich als quasi ,,Grundeinstellung“ abweichend von einer film simulation ansehen würde nicht wieder bekomme oder mir ebenfalls als custom setting abgelegen müsste. Auf meiner x-S-10 habe ich die C1- bis C4 Funktionen auch belegt. Aber wenn ich dort zurück auf M gehe bin ich quasi wieder in meinen default Werten. Das muss doch auf der X100V auch möglich sein.
    Lieben Gruß 🙋🏼

    • @Jayshooter_photo
      @Jayshooter_photo  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey. Ich muss ganz ehrlich sagen, dass ich leider nicht ganz schlau geworden bin, was Du meinst. Geht es darum, dass Du eine "default" Einstellung, also quasi ohne Customizing auswählen möchtest? Dann musst Du dafür ein "Rezept" anlegen. Also, es gibt keine mir bekannte Möglichkeit, ganz ohne Custom Setting zu fotografieren... Habe ich die Frage richtig verstanden? VG!

    • @AufKohleGeboren
      @AufKohleGeboren Před 2 lety +1

      @@Jayshooter_photo ja genau das meinte ich, dann ist das bei der X-S10 tatsächlich anders. Da bleibt die ursprüngliche Base quasi unberührt außer den Einstellungen die ich tatsächlich dort mache. Wenn ich auf manuell zurück stelle von c1-c4 werden überhaupt keine Einstellungen aus den custom settings beibehalten, eine Bezeichnung wie BaseC1 zum Beispiel gibt es dort nicht. Es gibt dort auch keine "allgemein gültigen" settings, ich kann unter c alles individuell abspeichern auch Aufnahmemodus, ISO etc. Als Beispiel ich bin in C1, habe als Format nur JPEG ausgewählt habe ISO Auto 3, AF-C und aperture pritiority zum Beispiel. Wenn ich dann C1 verlasse und auf normal Manuell zurück gehe ist das alles hinfällig und ich habe alle Einstellungen wieder die ich sonst in M nutze. Ich brauche also dafür kein eigenes custom setting anlegen.
      Liebe Grüße
