CAPOEIRA is fantastic. I have seen people use it to hold there own in many fights. Street fights to professional ring fights etc. I love how it almost forces your opponent/friend to adopt an unorthodox way of fighting/defence. Music, dance, spare, fighting all mixed into Capoeira. Love it.
Capoeira is a martial art, I think people who say it is not have never tried, read up on it nor been kicked by someone doing it. It's one of the hardest I've ever did. So before you say it's not an art, try it for 6 months and you'll see for yourself also tell the people there how you feel about it and they'll make sure you feel truth (not beat you up but teach you the truth). LOL
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL.
The moves themselves are pure, like a dance between lovers, in sync.
The music is a wonderful blend of the native beat, plus the techno introduction.

I actually teach free Capoeira classes in Pittsburgh and I tell people to watch this video if they don't know what Capoeira is because it is the cleanest, most well-shot film I've seen of the art.

One thing I amazed with capoeira art is that they seems to understand the gravity force and they can flip as smooth as they want to be without feeling tired.

The soul is in the rhythm. Forget oriental martial arts for comparison....the berimbau....West African, Angolan influence...when all set foot in Brazil..all were transformed, transfixed and bewildered....Capoeira is unique....it's funky...maybe if Bruce Lee had erm..tried LSD?

Awesome, thanks for sharing! Capoeira was done in slow motion by the African slaves so that the captors would think they were dancing. The were actually practicing an African fighting art. Check Angola Africans transported to Brazil as the origin. This is GREAT!
There's no mistakes. The ginga is different depending on whatever group you are and who your mestre is. Some mestres teach different styles of it based on what they think should be taught. And keep it up, capoeira is really worth it.
you're never too old, seriously, i know a 60 yr old guy that does capoeira, and he's no less then younger capoeiristas

Great film, but the male had about twice the agility and strength of the woman. It's more likely I think that she was smiling because she knew he was going easy on her than because she believed she surpassed his skill ^^ Awesome video with great meaning :)))

Capoeira is a fighting style, a game, a dance, and a culture even. I've been taking a class at my college and my only regret is that I'm too out of shape right now to do some of the moves.. lol
My teacher is Mestrando Jamaika. I think there's a vid of him breakdancing around here, but I'm honestly not sure if it's him.

that's cool, i like how you build up the intensity of the moves. the only thing i would've changed would be having the girl wear black to have more of a contrast between the two fighters.
Really a very good job. I have never seen a movie that can better transport emotions about art and style then this one. When you see this video you can understand this words better: The art to kill.

i agree with you that it's far from the most deadly.. ninjitsu,krav maga, bokator,BJJ are deadlier..but as a striking martial art, it's on the same level as Sanda Kung Fu, Muay Thai or Savate and capoeira kicks can be lethal just like any striking M.A , plus it's a lot more effective than people think, capoeira is underrated because theres no 'sport combat' like other striking M.A

I just Took my First Capoeira Class 2night...it was....AWESOME!!!! i mean it's hard if u can't stretch and handstands and cartwheels and etc..but i was and it was unbelievable!!! it just amazing..i pay $50 a month and meet ups are 2 or 3 times a week it's AWESOME!!!

They deliberately slowed the flips in the first few seconds of the dance to show how long ONE of their arms could support their full weight.
Nay pick a fight with those people. They would blow you to pieces with their strength and fluid movements.

Capoiera's fantastic. If it's done well, it looks amazing to watch and is a real art. It's also a great way to keep very fit. I was learning it not that long ago, but recently had an operation, so I've had to stop. I hope to re-start at some point soon.
Alessandrobrs is completely correct, people. Capoeira is a culmination of customs from different enslaved African cultures and social influences in Brazil of the time. The game as we know it never existed in Africa until more recent times.
