I used to hate getting the black pieces cause the only thing I knew (barely) how to play was the London system. Now honestly these kid and pirc positions are more enjoyable and fun to play. Very unbalanced and usually lead to decisive games. So thanks for having so many videos on these openings and helping people enjoy chess more
Dear Robert Ramirez, Your lessons helped me improve my chess tactics. Though I'm still the beginner level player, Pirc Defense helped me to reach 900 plus from 700 and still progressing well. Big respect ❤
Robert, I wish you all the luck and success in the world. You've given so much to us through this channel. Thank you for creating such clear and understandable content.
Hi Robert, I really like this format where you interact with GM Avetik Grigoryan. Both of you are excellent teachers. In this video, your casual back and forth makes me feel like we are all sitting around the kitchen table and I am listening in on a very interesting discussion between people I respect. Just wanted to say thanks for all the videos you provide and I really appreciate what you do for the chess community. I recently purchased your Counterblow course and it looks like a gem. Keep up the good work!
I wondered about h5 also, but just assumed that it had to do with wanting to still be able to play h6 if white's dark square bishop was sitting on g5 threatening to pin your knight on f6. If the h pawn wasn't there, it might be pretty difficult to make them decide whether to take or move, so you would have to keep your e pawn on e7 until after you moved your queen. I can't remember having a problem with that pin because if they go there, I move c pawn to c6 and follow the rules for the Czech Pirc, but I am still learning.
I had a similar question in mind. Why not playing h6 instead of h5 in the first place to have the same affect that Bh6 is not playable by White anymore, but at the same time g5 is not available for their Bishop or Knight. And if needed you can push to h6 later. Or do I miss something?
Pirc? I have so much to learn. I never play theory, I calculate and play the current position. Probably why I'm only 1800. The 8 versions of sicilian defense is frying my brain.
I have two things that really bother me when I play the Pirc. One is that I lose a tempo when I play Bg7 against the Byrne and this video gives some ideas for that! The biggest thing that bothers me is that when white plays Bf4, Qd2, and follows it with Nf3 and 0-0 I really have a hard time with black! The normal strategy after Bf4, Qd2 is for black to delay Bg7 and 0-0 and instead expand on the Queenside, but then when white switches to Nf3 and 0-0 black suddenly needs to play Bg7 and 0-0 himself, and the time spent on Queenside expansion always feels dubious.
Hello! If White switches gears, then we focus on making e5 happen and the queenside expansion gives us more space in that sector. The move order suggested by Avetik with Nbd7 before b5 and Qa5 might help with that too 👍💪
Hello what if after e4 d6 d4 nf6 nc3 g6 be3 c6 a4!? preventing your queen side advance and then playing qd2 f3 nge2 and only castling when black plays e5? i believe this is the most critical test
I'm not knocking the video at all, but I feel like it's geared for 1600 elo and below. These concepts are not difficult to understand as to as much thought they're putting into it. I've peaked at 2069 uscf, to make it clear I'd be lucky to hold a draw in a position with these guys, but I'd like to see some more advanced training methods if possible. Great content.
Broo love from india❤❤ but one thing i would like to ask that i have started to watch your beautiful playlist i am 890ELO player and i am 13yrs . Pirc and King’s Indian systems are my favourite, thank you so much for this video

Thank you, Andres! It means a lot to know you found value in this video. Enjoy Counterblow and let me now if you have any questions 👍😎

Yes, that's a good point! White could even place a knight on g5 👍💪

Thee mighty pirc💪 I'm excited
wow, what an unbelievable opportunity! keep the gems coming!
eyyy another idea with the pirc 💪 together with the Gm so lucky to see this video coach
17:38 I think there is e5 if black plays Nbd7 instead of Bg7
One of your best videos ever! The last part is very interesting. My Elo 1950
Thank you for your kind feedback! Glad to see you found some value in it 👍😎
great video. nice to see you with avetik
wow sir
Great lesson to enhance Pirc
Two amazing guys

Is that a copy of Think Like a Monk by Jay Shetty on GM Grigoryan's shelf?😇
👍👍💯

Why not play h5? At 12:09
Because it opens up g5 to become a permanent home for a knight.

You got it, Tony! I want to explore more advanced concepts in the Pirc and KID 💪😎
