She made it clear that she was answering a specific question and it was not related to Miles depression reveal. Miles also did an interview about that comment /scene and he was upset that the show would edit it that way. He said it was disrespectful to his mental health journey and to Karen. He said Karen was very supportive to him when he revealed his diagnosis. MAFS is notorious for this ish.

Yes, whenever watching a “reality” show, you have to be mindful of editing for drama. I LOVE them together. I think they will complement each other well.

My friends dad is a pilot and her sister is a flight attendant and they basically think Christina is probably homeless without being actually homeless. I guess it depends on the airline and what type of flights you usually do, but a lot of flight attendants sleep in crash pads or rent out a place with a bunch of other attendants between flights. Especially when they are new like Christina, the pay isn't good yet so they don't wanna spend a bunch of money having their own place and only sleep there 3 nights a week. So she probably isn't sleeping in her car, but she probably is staying somewhere with a bunch of people who probably wouldn't want a camera crew coming in and filming.

Yea I had a friend who after her lease was up didn’t bother to get another place until a few years had passed cuz it’s not like she was ever home much to begin with.

It’s no big deal if she rents a crash pad or makes another arrangement b/c she’s a flight attendant; it is a big deal to be so particular and outspoken about every detail of this experience EXCEPT when it comes to discussing her living situation (especially during an episode about merging their households).
Brett was very disappointed that Olivia was not at all impressed with his house.
Also important to remember with Olivia is that she doesn't want kids. She doesn't see a future that will involve having to pay for a kid to go to college or other long term expenses around having a family. With that mindset, of course she would rather put her money towards going out instead of having to budget for property taxes and kitchen upgrades.

Yes I agree. If you don't have children and you have a good job with a good matching 401k plan. You can do ALOT and even though I am a home owner, I can see not wanting the commitment.

honestly I found their interactions this episode more pleasant and casual than previous episodes. I am 50/50 about Karen but I agree that she was being playful.

Agreed, and while I think they both lack compromise , Brett is do melodramatic! He overreacts to everything. He decided that her choices for how she spends her money was a complete judgment of him and I don't think that's true. She knew what she wanted and the experts didn't give her that. That's not Brett's fault but it's also not Olivia's fault.
Right. They both refuse to compromise or even budge on their position. That wouldn’t work for most relationships, let alone marriages.
Yea she’s probably staying at a crash pad which is typical for flight attendants when they switch bases. So she more than likely couldn’t bring people there where other crew members also live per their housing contract (flight attendant scheduler here so these are facts lol)
I think that makes perfect sense, but why not just say it on camera? Or who knows, maybe she did and production cut it out to make her seem shady. It's pretty clear the producers are not big fans of Christina.

also been a Flight attendant shes able to fly her base to start a trip, and fly back hone when she ends. thats why she said she does 3 day trips.
He wasn't saying she couldn't cut her hair or need his permission, he just want to be in on the decisions. Don't surprise him, they communicate well. He knows he can't control her that's what he loves about her.
I actually appreciated Woody's willingness to stand in his convictions and double down on how he felt. From a communication standpoint. I think too often these days women are being told that a relationship should only fit their needs and anything outside of that is control and thats not true.. men in marriages have needs and expectations. Everything comes down to communicating and negotiating.

Actually, he said that he wouldn't be physically attracted to her if she did that. I think that is what made Amani double down and before she could answer and go in on him, he had to explain the past hurts that made him that way.
Right!! Everyone is misunderstanding Woody and making him out to be out of line. He specifically said he don't want surprises if she walked in bald headed. I agree with him 100%. Two become one so out of courtesy they should discuss the situation.

I thought I heard Bennet say is home was made as a prop for a play, and he decided to make a residence out of it instead of throwing it away. Hence, no bathroom or kitchen. Love them as a couple. Could see them with their own spin-off show one day.

Christina is a flight attendant it’s not uncommon for them to not have physical places they stay where they are based they just commute. She said her things are in California which would explain her attitude if that’s where she’s originally from.

I don't think Henry was ever attracted to Christina. I can think back to the wedding day, when Henry saw her coming down the aisle, he started to twitch and commented that she was tall, (not beautiful or pretty, but tall).
Christina said she had some of her things in her car as well as in storage in New Orleans, but most of her things in California.

Ladies don’t hold yourselves back. There are “Whole house warranties”. I’m a single mom and bought a home and when there is an issue “few and far between” that warranty comes in handy - HVAC, plumbing, etc. Don’t forget you can make money if you decide to sell. Owning is a great investment.

Bennett was very impressed that his wife was a homecoming queen. He mentioned in school being with the homecoming queen was not possible and he hoped he don't messed things up with them.

Henry always looks like he is having a constant conversation in his head. I watched him on unfiltered and he looked like he was having a hard time talking like things were happening in real time lol. He looks like he took that ring off a long time ago😂.
I think he has tourettes and as a result has to concentrate on what he is saying so he doesn't tick .
@@breannacarlisle5441 I noticed the tic. I'm talking about the fact that he always seems to be in deep thought but says very little. Seems like he processes a lot in his head but says very little. Didn't he say he was bullied as a kid? He probably grew up with very few people to talk to and often observed his surroundings a lot. He also could have been concetrating on not revealing that he and Christina aren't together anymore lol. He just always seems like he has a lot more to say than what he does.
Brett’s jerk-ish ways appear to be a defense mechanism which ties back to the fact that he seems a bit insecure. Still doesn’t make it right but I don’t think he’s a jerk when he is truly feeling comfortable or confident.

Their philosophies on finances and their philosophies on children are completely opposite, and it's not even a fair start to put too people so incompatible together. I'm really struggling to see why Olivia and Brett were matched. Everyone else, I can see why...even Christina and Henry, but not Olivia & Brett. Like you said, their money values differ. It's not even about compromising. They don't view money the same. It's not going to work.

Most of those folks were from season 10. It was such a mess. This season is so much better.
Kia Freeman They low-key were doing worse on the show. I think having their daughter put a band-aid on their problems temporarily, but they were also a bit mismatched.
The only time Karen seems open to Miles touching her is when it’s in her favor... the foot rub, taking the clips out of her hair. She’s always making him bring in her luggage and do things for her. My issue is, no one can fault her if she just doesn’t like him, but he appears to have a super easy personality to get along with. She can at least be nice and polite considering this was a risk for him too. Hopefully next week is a peak into what we can expect from them going forward and bit just a moment like y’all said.
With Karen’s response to the confessional, I feel like due to her contract she can’t out right say that wasn’t my confessional for that particular scene. Once the contractional agreement is fulfilled I think we’ll hear more about that. They can’t say to much during the airing of the show and a little after the show has been aired.
- Y'all should watch the most recent unfiltered where Amani says she does not know how to say nice things about Brett! I fell out!
- Christina says she had some stuff in California because she used to be based out of SFO (she talked about this in an insta post). She also said that she gave up her apartment after being picked for the show - she said there was no point in paying for 2 place while she was getting some place for free for 7 weeks and that she has a transient lifestyle because she's a flight attendant. Her mom lives in NOLA though.
- Unpopular opinion - i think Karen likes Miles, she's just scared to fall/give into it.
- Also Unfiltered is filmed after decision day but before the reunion which was August 29.

I think that Olivia and Brett have two completely different lifestyles too. I'm not sure if the experts used "opposites attract" to match them or what. Olivia doesn't want kids vs. Brett wants kids. Olivia is a Christian vs Brett isn't religious. Olivia wants to enjoy life in the moment vs.Brett enjoy life later. Olivia values her social circle vs. Brett who doesn't talk to anyone. Olivia is a traveler and enjoys entertainment vs. Brett likes to stay at home. Olivia seems to not care about owning her own home vs. Brett who owns his own home. Other than cats and Taco Bell they just don't match. Olivia wants a non traditional marriage while Brett is traditional in his own way. I honestly believe that Olivia would compromise if Brett presented her with "meet me halfway" solutions rather immediately shutting the ideas down.
Everything about them is wrong. Nothing makes sense.

I'm guessing Olivia benefits from the new hospital on Tulane Ave. Good for her. But that's not the norm in New Orleans.
Brett’s pride is his biggest issue. He came off like a jerk at first because he was trying to overcompensate for his insecurities. The money situation just made it worse.

After he explained it, it was understandable. That experience was traumatic for him and later triggers may seem minor to others. I think Amani understood after he explained it, too.
I feel like her response wasn't what he wanted, so he resorted back to the abortion for sympathy. But I'm biased. Lol
Aleasia B, yeah, it wasn’t what he wanted or expected, but I think it was what he needed. I think because he’s cute and can be charming, I think he’s probably accustomed to women just going along with him, but he needs someone with Amari’s approach because she will let him know. I like them together.
The experts can’t build the perfect mate, but it seems like they take some God-like liberties in determining what’s best for each person or who will most help them unlearn perceived undesirable traits. I don’t think that’s the role of a matching expert. They need to tune in to what’s important to each person, what they value, and how they prioritize those values. If you can’t find a suitable match then oh well. But it’s not ok to match ppl who differ so grossly on issues like finances, children, beliefs about gender roles, etc. No one in real life would purposely choose that partner so why arrange a marriage between strangers with those stark differences??!!
I completely agree. I commented about this. They are hoping that these "opposites attract" couples value each others differences and compromise. In reality, they should've either just been unmatched or found someone more similar to the actual participants.

Yeah. The fact that it’s a tv show makes a difference. How do ratings impact the experts and producers matches? How does being on camera impact the way the couple’s act and handle situations? These 2 questions definitely inform what we’re seeing and why we’re disappointed that things aren’t going better for the couples. Maybe the bottom line is to make good tv rather than produce well-matched couples who stay together happily forever.
Agreed. It’s different if it’s more of a preference, but when it’s a requirement, it’s just doing them both a disservice. People break up all of the time over financial, and other domestic issues, it’s hard to believe they matched these two thinking they would actually work long term.

Yeah I understand her not paying rent for somewhere to stay for 6 nights a month. I know people who drive trucks and don't have a "home". They stay between family and friends when they are home.
Nope, she’s a flight attendant, at one point I stayed between my moms and my aunts in two different cities and paid rent in both places. It’s a lifestyle many don’t understand

Brett/Olivia & Henry/Christina aren't made for each other, but their great for TV.
Also I look at the posts on the spoiler IG page, this season is very different than past seasons, and I think because of Covid they had to stay married way longer than the two months, which would also be a major contributing factor as to whether they stay married or divorce.

Now I don’t care for Christina, but flight attendants live differently. Figured I’d say this rather than going to individual comments and saying it. We have crash pads or stay with family, or have roommates. We can switch bases often and some fly high time. So putting down roots isn’t a priority. Some have literal homes such as myself because I have a family. But before that I stayed between my moms and aunts because I was gone all the time. High time fliers just need a place to sleep and shower, dasit.
I used to have a neighbor that was an International flight attendant. She was only home once a year for maybe a month. So Christina probably just stays with someone or in a hotel when she’s in New Orleans.
Also, she did say she just moved to New Orleans and still had stuff at her old place (I don’t remember what state she said she moved from but Texas is right there so it could’ve been Texas).

- I've been saying from the beginning, as soon as Henry finds his voice, Christina will not be able to handle it. She signed up to have a husband but she is not ready to have someone hold a mirror to her and she definitely isn't ready to make any changes in her personality.
- Karen has not completely healed from that past hurt if she keeps bringing it up like that, and this type of show was not a good fit for her
- I am not feeling Olivia and I no longer see Brett as the villain of the season; he is sarcastic and a little petty but she also expects to just bring a hubby along on her journey as opposed to adjusting to creating a new life with him; I don't think she's willing to make him a priority
You hit the nail on the damn head with Olivia. Olivia is looking for a sidekick not a husband. She is not prepared to start a new journey and new life with a man, she wants a man to come join her on her ride of life. She needs to stay single.

Christina said she had stuff in storage in California. I think she was living with her mom/grandmother, and maybe didn't want camera crews in her mom/grandmother's home.
I just want to point out a pattern when it comes to Brett. When his feelings get hurt or he feels offended, he lashes out in an attempt to inflict the same level of hurt.
Example 1: When he wouldn’t “rate the marriage” but overheard Olivia giving it a 7.5. He felt some type of way about that and immediately iced her out and started interacting with her in a passive aggressive way.
Example 2: When Olivia wasn’t impressed with his house and didn’t compliment him on it- he lashed out on the money issue. I don’t think he *really* cares that much but he harped on the fact that he had a house and she didn’t. He was being really ugly about the finances because he felt like he could hurt her and hold that over her head in retaliation for not liking his house.
At this point in the show it’s been a little over a week and Brett’s behavior has been trash. I’m not Olivia’s biggest fan but I understand why she responds to him the way she does. When you give jerk energy- you get jerk energy back.
Yesss the friend get together in the preview reminded me of Jephte and Shawniece from a past season like Jephte wasn’t feeling her completely but it took a slight turn for the better after that. Sitting on his lap and everything.
Karen was trying to be funny at the apartment. It was a joke between them. They have good banter at times.
I’m here as I cook Sunday Dinner. I came to comment to say thank y’all for this recap. As I watch the show each week the commentary I think y’all will give definitely gives me LIFE 🤣! Also Angels sneakers are 😍
I think there's a wide spectrum between Russell Wilson and Future, and just because you don't want one extreme doesn't mean you'd like the other. There's a lot that I like about Miles, but I do feel his desperation to just be in a relationship emanating from the screen, which would be a turnoff for me. That he didn't really know what he wants/needs in a wife, and that he said Karen feels like his "safe place" or "home" when she's barely willing to give him an inch suggests to me that he isn't quite as self-possessed, self-assured as he presents. This doesn't mean she wants a man to do her wrong, but possibly a man with a little bit more of a clear backbone (ala the "balds").
I think it’s fair to note that we don’t see all of their conversations. Those are the places where she may make him feel comfortable.
I do feel that the fact that she keeps bringing up “masculinity” is indicative of some sort of unresolved issues she’s got though. While I do think Miles would be happy married to any pretty girl who would have him, I think he’s taking the marriage more seriously than Karen. She’s treating it like a series of dates while he actually wants to learn how to be a husband during these 8 weeks. She doesn’t seem to be putting much effort forth, but hopefully that will change soon.
Right?! It’s possible to want a good guy but Miles may not be that guy. That doesn’t mean she wants a Future type. I agree that she has put up so many walls that it will be difficult for her to figure out her true feelings about Miles, and at the same time I think that his try-hard behavior is probably having the opposite effect of what he’s intending.
Just be easy man, and show her who you really are - at least that way, they will be both be able to evaluate each other more fully.

Re: when Unfiltered is filmed...a few episodes ago the guests were Bennet, Woody and Miles. Bennet was fiddling around with his “I Voted” sticker and LA primaries were mid-July. So we’re probably seeing the Unfiltered episode about 3-4 weeks after they film it, which is a few months after the actual show wraps filming.

Because you are literally throwing money out the window! If you can avoid that, do it.
I don’t know about it being an obsession, but I wanted one so that I wouldn’t still be making payments for a home when I retire. Also, it’s an investment so I may sell it at that point and use the money to live well in a less expensive country once I reach retirement age. When I transition, I’ll leave it to my niece or if I end up being a parent (or step parent) I’ll leave it to that child. If you can afford it, it’s not a bad decision at all, especially since you never know how your life may change over the course of a 30-year mortgage.
I haven't watched this show, but listening to the analysis of married couples gave me insight into aspects of relationships that I had not considered. Thank You

You guys I have to disagree with you all on Woody and Amani. My opinion about the whole thing about the hair had nothing to do with hair. He used hair as an example but the main thing that he was trying to get over to her was he wanted to be involved in decision-making that involves and affects both of them . It had nothing to do with controlling her because he already said he needed somebody to call him out on his stuff so he knows he's not going to control her but he don't like surprises, therefore any decision that affects both of them they need to run it by each other. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should always do it. He also said if you cut off all your hair (I.e. Tiffany Haddish), and you're bald I don't know if I will be attracted to you he wasn't saying you can't cutoff your hair into a style he was saying if you make a drastic change like becoming bald we need to talk about it. Just like he said I could go quit my job tomorrow just because I can it's my job but that doesn't mean I should quit my job tomorrow and if I haven't discussed it with you I shouldn't be doing that just because I can. And I was glad to see that Pastor Cal let them continue to talk it out until they got to the final analysis. Now we know why he was trying to get a honeymoon baby because that abortion affected him some kind of way. At least that's my take on it.
The experts mess up on Olivia and Brett and Christina and Henry. It will be tragic to watch their marital demise. Karen and Miles have potential. Karen can grow to find Miles attractive. She just needs to be realize he is not her ex.
I think a part of Miles' battle with depression can be linked to his accommodating nature. He's so selfless that his needs go unmet creating an internal firestorm. The best thing he can do is honestly communicate his needs and give Karen some space. At least he'll know what's up then, he can proceed accordingly.

Christina said she has most of her things in California. The biggest issue with Olivia and money is that she is unwilling to pay for both of them to travel together and that's Brett's issue. If you make more than you have to be willing to share to offset his lack. Also I would bet the reason she rents is cuz she just doesn't want the responsibility of homeownership outside of marriage, however I find it interesting that she has a lot of debt given the amt of money she makes. I think the issue with Woody n Imani was not her cutting her hair short it was shaving her head bald and I think that is valid. Typically women don't choose to be bald and most men aren't attracted to those that do and that was exactly where Woody was like to make that choice requires a conversation with me first cuz I have to look at you every day and find a new physical attraction for my wife outside of her inner qualities simply because she decided to do something weird.

Regarding Christina, she probably has a crash pad where she is based. A crash pad is an apartment/bed in a house with other flight attendants that you rent by the month. So technically she may not live in New Orleans. Her mom probably lives in New Orleans, which is why she felt like she could even apply for the show. Christina mentioned she had stuff in CA I think.
