    The "gentle giant" doesn't sound very gentle to me. "Stupid oaf" would have been more accurate. And they make it sound like this wonderful thing that he actually kept in touch with his childen after the divorce. We also don't know that he wanted the money to take careof his children, as they keep on saying. He just wanted to pay off his debts.

      Yes I noticed the constant smiling right away. It is so incongruent. Doesn't she get the gravitas of what's going on? The taking of a life? This reminds me of all the hundreds of pop singers who are singing a tragic ballad or tragic love song and they're smiling all the while they are agonizing over painful memories. Even Frank Sinatra did it.

    • @thankyouverymuch
      @thankyouverymuch Před měsícem +1

      Oh no, not another ignorant child in the comments. 🤦 It is not redundant. I understand that in the second grade you are taught the concept of "redundant" and are eager to use your new vocabulary. However, in later years of school, as you learn more about writing, you will learn the concept of emphasis. Emphasis does not mean putting text in all-caps, which is rude. However, since that's your preference, I will include some all-caps, so that maybe you can understand it at your level.
      First, it isn't redundant at all. A person can take a selfie of themselves WITH OTHER PEOPLE in the same picture, so in some cases one may need to specify that a selfie is of one single person, not including others.
      In this documentary they were emphasizing that he took a selfie of HIMSELF AT THE LOCATION AT THE TIME. It is important to emphasize that it was HIM at THAT LOCATION at THAT TIME. You could also say "he, himself, took a photo." That is not redundant. That is EMPHASIS.
      Hopefully you've learned something that you can use to impress your teacher as you enter the third grade this fall.

    Love this episode: eccentric rare book dealer, lives in Oxford with no security system, murdered by an oaf who places for sale on eBay a book that is being looked for by the global rare book community. The oaf receives a life sentence for premeditated murder which means he is out in 13-years. It doesn't get more British than this. Well, perhaps we need a spinster lady who momentarily is a suspect. Very sorry the dealer was murdered but this was a glorious story.

    I'm just fascinated by the story of this horrible pointless murder and the subsequent tracking down of the murderer, and I've watched several CZcams videos about it. Maybe it's because I love Oxford, and I loved the tv Inspector Morse series. I love books, too, although I wouldn't pay £50,000 for a book just because it still has its dust jacket! I've got a paperback copy of 'The Wind in the Willows', published in 1961, which cost 3 shillings and 6 pence! Who remembers shillings and pence? Before decimal currency, we had 12 pennies = 1 shilling, 20 shillings = £1. I must have been 13 or 14 when I bought this book, and I still re-read it now I'm 76! My favourite character is the Mole and my favourite chapter is 'The Piper at the Gates of Dawn', which makes me cry when the father otter finds his missing son, with the help of the great god of nature, Pan. His image is on the dust jacket.
